I had a flat tire and needed an urgent replacement, called these folks and we had an appointment scheduled in an hour. Within 3 hours from that call, I had already gotten all my tires replaced and back on the road. I recommend calling ahead and ensure that they have the tires you need if you have a flat. They'll tell you the price on the phone too. Credit cards also have offers for Big O sometimes (like AMEX) so check before you pay to save some $$$. However, they do charge extra for alignment so keep that in mind (I declined since I didn't need it). No complaints from me tho, it was a last minute situation and they helped out within a few hours. read more

I can't rave enough about Big O Tires in San Francisco - the people and customer service was great! Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to get all new tires for my car, and I had a very tight window to get them done. My husband called and spoke to the staff at Big O Tires who got me some tires the same day (this is unlike other places we checked who needed a few days notice). I was about to drop off the car in between errands and a few hours later, my car was done. In terms of prices, it wasn't bad at all. And in terms of inventory, as I mentioned, they had the best same day selection that we could find. I have little kids who I have to drive around the city so having any car/tire issues can be scary. I was assaulted, belittled, and harassed. By the manager. A common theme in the reviews. I paid $598 on 4/23/2026 for 2 uniroyal tires, alignment, and a warranty package. The shop violated the agreement by leaving my vehicle unsecured with the key fob on a public street, after explicitly confirming they would not drive it off the property I politely pointed this out and kept saying let's move on just let me pay. They kept getting more and more irate, shouting in my face " you making a big deal out of it " and I kept calmly saying let's just move on? When I returned to address an incomplete service (TPMS not reset, lug nuts not mine, visible weights glued crooked on premium wheels) staff verbally abused me, followed me to my car, kicked my feet, blocked me in, and knocked on my windows until i pulled my phone out to record. They taunted me to roll my windows down, called my vehicle a "piece of sh**", etc I was unable to safely return to use the warranty services included in my purchase. The aggressor identified himself as the manager. Reading these reviews it seems to be a repeat pattern. I filed a police report credit card dispute and will pursue through small claims and also notify the bureau of automotive repair, BBB, corporate office, etc. read more

It's a scam! I called this morning to get a price on a tire installation. I have the tire so just the installation. I was quoted $25 which was to include installation and balancing. When I arrived this afternoon the guy said it would be $50!!! I told him about the quote and he said it was "probably a new guy" that told me this. I went down the street and spoke to the man at the other place. He said he knew those guys and that there were no new guys there at Big-O. Buyer beware and be wary of rip offs. read more

Lawrence gets 5 stars. He was responsive and helped me tracked down the tire I needed. He also didn't try to pressure me for more than what I wanted to spend. However, when I went to pick up the car it was a different experience. There was an Asian male with a long ponytail as the only person working behind the desk. There were two people in front of me. He looked overwhelmed. I waited over 12 minutes before I reached the front of the line. Instead of asking me what I needed to do, he skipped me and asked the people behind me what I needed. He started to assist them before I calmly added, "I was here first. I've been waiting longer." He sighed and reluctantly started helping me. I get it. They parked their car in the driveway and you were trying to move things along. But to not acknowledge my presence was a big red flag. I am not invisible. Not cool. Zero stars for this guy. Visited this location 3 times for the same issue. 1. Asked for rear brakes and rotors to be done but said please let me know if there's anything else you guys can do as my understanding of the issue is something specific. They advised me what the issues are and told me the work is complete and the issue should go away. 2. I came a second time and was informed the job was done incorrectly and it would be fixed. 3. I came in today and was told by one of the advisors that the inspection was done incorrectly and the issue was not resolved correctly and that I would need to have it fixed. I asked for a discount to remedy the fact the inspection was done incorrectly the first two times. The advisor was knowledgeable and let me know that he has a solution and I would need to ask the manager for the discount to remedy the situation. I believe the service fee was egregious since the work was incorrect each time. The manager offered a small discount and I let him know that wouldn't suffice. I let him know my grievances. Instead of helping he cursed at me told me to leave and became irate that his staff was helping me to remedy the issue he caused. Everyone at this location is very kind other than the manager, Will Pak. He shouldn't be a manager if he doesn't know how to speak to people or becomes angry at his staff members for assisting paying customers. read more

I had to share my experience after a second failure from an improper shock installation. I hope Big O management reads this honest and factual review. In 2018, Big O on Geary Street installed a new set of Rancho shocks on my truck. The Rancho shocks have a lifetime warranty. I gave Big O an excellent review back in 2018. In 2024, the Big O manager, Will, assisted me with a warranty replacement of all four shocks due to defective rubber bushings, paying for labor and realignment. Happy return customer at this point. Here's where things went wrong. The Big O mechanic who installed the replacement shocks didn't torque the front control arm nuts and bolts back to spec and my driver side front end came loose a week later and I lost control of the truck while driving. Couldn't steer the truck safely at any speed. Fortunately, this front control arm failed on a City street rather than on the Freeway with my son during our camping trip that week. It would have been catastrophic at freeway speeds or on a mountain road! I brought the truck in immediately and was charged the $125 "inspection fee" even after the mechanic and manager admittedly reinstalled and retorqued the loose control arm bolts that were improperly installed. The manager should have waived the "inspection fee" since this was a Big O mechanics fault, but I was just happy to get my truck rolling after a four hour wait and didn't push the issue at the time. Fast forward June 13, 2025. My driver's side rear shock broke free from the top mount bolt while driving. I heard a bang, which was the shock popping out from the chassis mount. On further inspection, I found the rear shock hanging by the lower bolt arm. Also, I checked the upper mount nut torque on the passenger side rear shock and was able to spin it freely by hand! From my understanding, the top nut should be torqued to 15 ft/lbs. Wasn't even close! I discussed this shock failure with another tire specialist shop and they pointed to improper installation torque settings. Although the front office and staff are professional, polite and they probably have many happy customers, I'm no longer one after two mechanical failures from a routine shock installation. If any positive comes from publicly revealing my experience, Big O needs to verify their mechanics do the proper installation steps and not disregard proper torque settings. The head manager's line, "it happens sometimes" is not acceptable when a control arm fails due to an inadequate shock installation. 100% NOT SAFE. Therefore, Big O will never touch my truck again. I personally don't trust this shop to keep my vehicles safely maintained on the road. read more

I went to Big O tires on Geary Blvd 2 weeks ago after work when my tire pressure light came on. I showed up close to 5:15pm and was nervous if they could fix it before their closing time. My tires were purchased from Big O earlier this year so the puncture repair was free. I was out of there in no time. Fast & efficient. Every one I interacted with was courteous. My only comment is to wait outside or at the lovely cafe across the street. read more

I had such a great experience here, I felt like it deserved a shoutout- especially for the customer service. Lawrence was super helpful from the moment I called in. He gave me all the information upfront, explained my options clearly, and never once gave off that pushy "salesman" vibe, which I really appreciated. I came in with my baby (which can make anything feel 10x more chaotic), and he was super mindful of that. He got everything moving quickly, and I was honestly in and out in about 45 minutes--with FOUR new tires. That alone felt like a miracle. The team working on my car was just as great--friendly, efficient, and clearly knew what they were doing. The whole process felt smooth and stress-free, which is not something I usually associate with car maintenance. As for the tires... they're still brand new, so I can't exactly give a long-term review yet , but so far, they're doing a fantastic job of being... tires. Morning was the worst of worst. Another vehicle cut me off, to avoid hitting the vehicle & fire hydrant, I hit a curb that blew out 2 tires. I look across, directly cross the street is BigO where I purchased the tires 4mos ago. Shaking, crying, went in for help. Called for tow, 90mins wait. Ridiculous. MsDolores asked for pod. She moved my vehicle with grace, caution and ease to the shop while I'm still in tears. When I say, a woman who took charge & knew what to do, that was MsDolores. My sincere thanks to her & the staff at BigO for their support, calming me down & repairing my vehicle. Staff was never disrespectful never a raised voice. Ordered the tires, installed & I'm ready. If I could leave this review with a -5 stars that would be amazing! I arrived at 12 PM for a tire change and they let us know It will be ready in two hours. We come back at 2 PM. They let us know it will be ready in 30 minutes. 30 minutes later he lets us know we are third in line as somehow they skipped our spot in line so we had to wait an extra 2 1/2 hours. Our car was the last car in the shop at closing time. Overall, they will lie to you and not tell you the real time that your car will be finished. We wasted our entire day! Additionally, the person in the front said we got there at 1:45 when we really got there at 12 so I could see how they must've skipped our spot in line because the car should've been done by 2pm since it was a 2 hour job‍ read more

My headlight went out on Saturday so I scheduled an appointment to have both bulbs replaced on Sunday. For any technician who knows what they're doing, it's not difficult. When the tech drove my car out, I could hear extreme noise and rattling coming from the front of the car, so I asked what he did because there was no noise when I drove it in. He looked at me deer in the headlights and walked away. Naively, I drove it home, and heard something fall out of my engine. I pulled over to walk across the street but didn't find anything. I popped the hood when I got home and was fixated on looking at the bulbs because I thought the tech didn't install it correctly. I also noticed the hood did not close. I knew I had to take it to my regular mechanic ASAP. This morning, I drove to a gas station to fill up and noticed there was a leak but I couldn't figure out from where. When I got to my mechanic at 8a this morning: Turns out the tech from Big O had left BOTH lightbulbs on the strut towers, and left the coolant reservoir ON THE ENGINE. The coolant had leaked all over the engine and the belts. I had to have the alternator, air conditioning compressor, and power steering belts replaced. And, have the coolant cleaned off the engine. Had the lightbulbs fallen into the pulley, it would have caused a catastrophic engine failure. The coolant reservoir thankfully did not melt. It cost me another $300 to fix, and the manager's response was that people make mistakes. There is no way I am paying for the labor charge and this is a warning to stay away from Big O unless your want damage done to you car by incompetent techs. It is absolute b.s. to be told "people make mistakes". I'd give them negative 10 stars if I could. Stay away. read more

I took my car to this shop for a tire repair and an oil change. They told me the service was done, but in reality they never changed the oil and sent me home with the oil tank completely empty. This mistake could have destroyed my engine and left me with thousands of dollars in repairs. After driving away and noticing that the warning light was still on, I assumed it was a deeper issue. I spent time and money calling mechanics, scheduling appointments, and even planning to take my car to the dealership -- all while unknowingly driving with zero oil. This was extremely stressful and unsafe. When I confronted the manager, his only response was: "We're human and we make mistakes." That is not an acceptable or professional answer when the mistake put my entire vehicle at risk. I'm writing this review to alert others: be cautious if you trust this shop with your car. I love going here, last year I decided to take my car to big o tires this location. I always had service at Lexus, almost every time service Lexus said my 4 tires need to be replaced or damaged, cost about $2000 for 4 tires, this frustrated because Lexus never ask me to buy tires warranty, if tomorrow my car tires flat again after I replaced the tires that mean $2000 again. I decided to take my car to big o tires, the lady at front desk so helpful, she offered me if I want buy warranty for tires, & which brand I like, also she tell me the price, how long the coverages, very nice. SF alot constructions, no wonder I got 3x flat tires within a year. So I bought the insurance, if Lexus offered Michelin tires, Big O tires have that brand too, I only pay labor fees & tax for repair or replace with new ones if my tires flat again, make my life easier. They also offered me wheel alignment after replaced the tires, I am ok with it. Lexus did wheel alignment too a while ago, but with Big O tires wheel alignment I feel drive my car better balance than Lexus the one who did alignment, so Big O tires does correct alignment. The staff are nice, & waiting time not too long, usually about 1 hour, lets say give them time 2 hours. I love this place ! read more

I bought my employee a car and had him drop it off here since coolant was leaking. These guys said I had a cracked radiator. Knowing how the industry can be, I rented an auto trailer to pick it up and bring it back to my buddy's shop in SJ. After assessing the situation, the issue was simply two bad radiator hoses and some worn out clamps. Been driving it around without any issues.. other than tires, don't come here - I would even suggest supporting a mom/pop shop. Tsk tsk.. big O tires? More like Big O Liars. And the Filipino cat with long hair & a choppy beard had the tenacity to talk down to me like I was a kid saying he said this & that over the phone.. man check your quality assurance recorded phone call and learn how to speak to your guests with respect. Really poor experience... no help from customer service. This is not a safe tire shop to visit. I went in for new tires about 2 months ago. I didn't feel like they had the best customer service when I was in there. Not enough for a bad review, but enough for me to not want to return. The discouraging part is that right after getting all new tires, one of them bubbled. I brought my car into the tire shop where my partner has gone for many years and that they trust. I was told by this tire shop that the bubble in my tire was caused by a cut on the inside of the tire that was the result of whoever installed the tire, accidentally cutting it with a tool. I brought my tire back in to Big O and was told I'd get a call back. Weeks past and no call. My partner called back once or twice to check in and they've not done anything to rectify the situation. They told us about 3 weeks ago that they were calling the manufacturer (even though this was the fault of the person installing the tire). We have not heard anything from them. They still have the tire and have for about a month and a half. read more

I've been to this Big O multiple times over the years living in the Inner Richmond & was surprised with their "ok" Yelp rating only. I've had to either replace my old tires (Michelin) or needed service with running into darn nails in the city (2 times in 3 years). Each visit the service was prompt, seamless & professional. This past Saturday late afternoon the low pressure light came on & discovered another F**king nail stuck in my tire. Made it to this location near closing time and explained I really needed my car the next morning to cross the Bay Bridge. BIG shout out to Myles at the front desk. He was able to squeeze me in & had the tire patched & good as new. I wanted to call out Myles as he was a one person show behind the front desk, fielding phone calls and managing multiple customer issues by himself. He was patient, kind and answered all my questions with a smile. I could understand he could have easily been overwhelmed since I popped right in near closing time for this location. Absolutely one of the best in person customer expereience's I've had with my stressful situation. As a bonus, the past few visits to patch my tires were $0 cost, not sure if it's because the tires were originally purchased at Big O. Big O Tires & this location has a customer for life.
