You never want to hear the moving crew say "we should have brought a bigger truck." The quote was around $2500-$2800, but we were only charged about half of that because they ran out of truck before we ran out of stuff. One of the movers told me they didn't like moving televisions, couldn't I just take that 80" TV in my car because they didn't have the proper equipment with them to move them. They made one load and we spent the next 4 days lifting and moving stuff in our vehicles--something we tried to avoid by hiring movers. This service was not worth the high cost of having to move things ourselves. We had used the service twice before, but never again.

When they inevitably can't do the job in the time frame given to them, you are then forced to pay an additional fee. I was given a quote of $1,800 to move a 2 bd home from East Lansing to Chicago. After I called to let them know that I had a lot of books and thought the quote was too low, the owner raised it to $2,000 without ever coming to see my things. On the day of the move, they only sent two guys, who worked extremely hard to try to load everything within the time window. Unfortunately, once they got to Chicago, their Ryder truck was too tall to clear under the El tracks, so they spent several hours driving around looking for another way to get to my neighborhood. By the time they were done unloading, it was 11pm, and I was charged an additional $1,400 above the original quote, plus I paid the guys a good tip for all their hard work. I should note, I was not provided with any kind of contract in advance and was asked to pay the flat rate prior to booking. That and the low bid should have alerted me that something was off. I also think the company should have been able to find a truck-friendly route in advance, since they had the destination address. I should not have been forced to pay $1,400 extra for the fact that they used a super tall rental truck and didn't use a trucker-friendly route. In summary, I ended up paying pretty much what I expected, but the whole situation was a poorly planned bait and switch that made for an extremely stressful move. I do not recommend using this company for any kind of interstate move.

They showed up on time with the appropriate number of people to accomplish a safe move and were very pleasant to work with. Not this time, I called and made the reservation for the move. Gave all of the detailed information he needed and was expecting everything to go smoothly as it always had in the past. I got a call 2 Days later asking for my information and when I said I just gave you all this information 2 days ago he told me he just was trying to make certain that everything was scheduled properly, I told him they had moved me just 2 years ago and that I was just moving about a mile and a half away this time but I still needed a large truck because it was a big job, and he said they could handle it. Come Friday morning at 10 AM, No one was here, 10:30, Still no one. I called and spoke with a young man who asked me what the address was! I told him I'd given them all my. information twice already, but gave it to him again. He said they'd be here in 20 minutes. It was 50 minutes before the 2 men arrived with 83 yr old Grandpa driving the truck. I was expecting 3 men, but they were polite and friendly so I hoped everything would go smoothly from that point on. I was so wrong. The move that had taken 4 and 1/2 hours in 2024 took 9 hours this time. Despite the fact that the first move was from Holt to Okemos and this move was only a mile and a half away from my current home. They moved slowly and inefficiently. One of the young men was having some health issues and the other young man was lifting and moving items that needed 2 men to move safely. After finally arriving at my house after 11:00 a.m they finally left at 8:30 PM, even though they were not able to complete my move. There were many items left behind because the truck wasn't big enough to hold all my belongings. Or possibly they didn't pack it properly to make the move because I didn't have any trouble moving there 2 years ago. They removed basement door from the hinges, and they never put it back on. They moved the washer and dryer and needed to use my tools. When they got to the new house they didn't bring the tools with them so I had to drive back to the old place and get the tools they left behind. Unfortunately, they still didn't hook up my washer and dryer. The move from Holt to Okemos in 2024 cost me $1,050. I was charged $1650 this time for an incomplete job. They did offer to come back and complete the move, but I was so exhausted. I just wanted them to leave and I knew I would be charged more. There's absolutely no reason that the move 2 years ago should have been so smooth and easy and $600 cheaper than yesterday's disaster. I would not take a chance on using this moving company again.

The only "oops" moment was because I forgot to disassemble an item and we got stuck in traffic behind a serious accident which closed the Interstate.
