It was fun, but absolutely exhausting because of the heat, humidity, and lifting the baby so he could see stuff. The next day, we wanted an easier adventure. We decided to go and explore Ollie's. Neither of us had ever been there. The baby is easily entertained by sitting in a grocery cart and being pushed around new places. It was the perfect venue for him and a great chance for us to see what the store was all about. The first thing that got my attention was a huge book department. They had a lot of great books at super discounted prices. For example, hardcover Michael Connolly novels were only about $9.00. They had several children's books for around $5.00 a piece, some of which we had recently bought on Amazon for as much as $20.00. They seem to have just about everything in the store. Most of the prices I saw were really fantastic. We were really just looking and only bought a few books for the baby, but I can see us filling a cart with awesome bargain finds. One thing that surprised me was how neat and tidy this store was. Similar businesses in San Antonio usually look like an earthquake happened. Wow! I just discovered that we have an Ollie's right next to Ingram Mall in San Antonio. I can't wait to get there without having to keep my cart in motion for the grandson. At Christmas they had quite a selection of inflatables and very reasonable at $19.99. They have a whole array of goods to include rugs ,Automotive ,and pet aisle .. the place looks a little bit disorganized, but this may be the fault of the customers moving things and dropping things off that isn't the proper area . sometimes it's hard to find the products that were advertised in the flyer because they have sold out .so if you're gonna go to Ollie's go as soon as the flyer comes out.

Clothing is pretty much reasonably priced. Employees are hard to find while shopping but this seems like the trend no matter where you shop. Sometimes there are a lot of people in the checkout line. Better to do your shopping during the week to avoid long lines. Great place to do shopping for presents whether birthday or holidays.

Admittedly, it was late in the day around 6:30p, but it wasn't a Saturday or Sunday. The store was fairly trashed, meaning merchandise on the floor and out of place. It wasn't exactly a minefield, but it also looked like staff apathy was contributory, and there hadn't been an effort made to restore order in quite awhile. I can't blame the staff for merchandise landing on the floor from undisciplined children and adults (watched it happen while I was there), but they can pick it up and return it to home just as easily as I did. I don't get paid to work here after all. There were staff roving the store, after all. Did I find what I came for? Yes, and more. Am I encouraged to return? Big nope.

I had this new listing added, and I'll fix the flea part later. My couple of pictures only represent one twentieth of what's here. I could have spent two hours here. This certainly isn't a "flea" market because there is beautiful furniture in here--many in individual consignment booths; others have permanent set ups. They also conduct auctions, one regular one is the first Thursday of every month; and from time to time, they conduct specialty auctions selling jewelry and other collectibles. They have specific estate auctions too. Come check out this nicely adorned, air conditioned marketplace, where you are free to browse without being harassed or watched; however, staff is here to answer your questions.

I will say that their selection is not as big as some of the other stores that i've seen, but they still have some great deals. There's a ton of facial masks that you would be paying much more for, the expensive ones. You can find name brands once in a while. If you don't want to read the whole thing: I've shopped here for years. The older lady who works here, with reddish hair, was rude and dismissive. Shes been rude before. This was the last time I'll be at Perky Peacock. When I shop here I typically spend a decent amount as I have a larger chest and they have many bras to choose from, as well as quite a selection of clothes. I've lost some weight in the past six months, but haven't updated my bra drawer so I decided to visit perky Peacock. I need an accurate measurement to buy some new bras as well as some clothes for a trip I have coming up. When I went in a young woman asked if I needed any help and I said I needed a bra fitting. She didn't have experience in fittings so she led me to the counter, where there was an older woman who would be able to help me. She groaned, looked extremely annoyed, and asked if I would be in the area for the next hour as another employee had just gone to lunch and she was helping another customer (I was the only other person in the shop outside of the two employees.) It looked like she was doing inventory from what I saw, but maybe she was working on a large order for someone who was coming back? Either way, l told her I wasn't sure but would shop for a while. When she realized I would be sticking around to shop she asked if I knew what band size I was. In which I replied, "No, that's part of the reason why I need to get fitted." She made another annoyed sound, rolled her eyes, and mumbled something to the other employee as I walked to a rack to peruse their sundresses. I didn't let on that I had heard her mutter to the other employee. She has been rude before to myself and other customers and I didn't have any desire to buy anything at that point. I just calmly walked out of the store shortly after. I'm writing this because I was treated as a burden and an annoyance. To treat someone so rudely who could be spending hundreds of dollars, or even someone just window shopping, at your establishment isn't ok in the least. I try to shop local. I love this town and I love the many shops around here. Unfortunately, there aren't very many locally owned places that cater to undergarments for women. So, I'll be heading out to get fitted at Soma and buying my bras and other various items somewhere else from here on out.
