Today I Brought my expensive Coker white wall tires for them to install ,350.00$ each . They damaged one of them with a bad installation .Said it was the fault of the tire and tried to tell me a fable as if I was some dumb not knowing the difference between white wall tires and add ons flaps .It Has a defect they said .I insisted they redo the installation because the white wall was all pinched and all wavy around the rim .Horrible .Never saw such a bad tire mount in my life .At the second time it worked .Tire went into place properly .Did the tire defect run away ??Problem is the wall is damaged now and Johnny treated me as a dumbass .I used to like this place but now seems to be a new era .Don't go there besides basic cheap needs and even so....They suck at paying attention to job quality .Even in the worst cheap tire places I have been in my younger years did I ever see such a bad work and service installing a tire . read more

Sooo, I have 0-little experience with cars. But with YouTube's help I managed to replace my power steering pump. But guess what I destroyed my rack and pinion in the process. (Don't ask me how) so I gave the guys at Big John's a call and they saved my car from certain death. Rob took great care of my car and keep me updated every step of the way. These guys are very reliable and great mechanics. So in all I learned 2 valuable lessons 1. Never work on my own car 2. I had my 28 foot Tioga RV wheel alignment and tires balanced at Big Johns. I found them to be honest, had integrity and cared about doing the job correctly. Very efficient, friendly and considerate of all the customers they were handling all at the same time. Josh at the counter has great PR skills, is communicative and is fair. Jakob (Mechanic) is competent, smart and made sure he touched all the bases in dealing with my Motorhome. He has integrity and seemed to treat my rig as if it were his own. Where to start .... These guys rock!!!!!!! Steve is an amazing guy when it comes to fab work. when I first brought my car in for some exhaust work and man was I impressed with how he took care of me. and man does he know his cars. defiantly the only guy in scv I will ever let do exhaust work for me. Rob & Dan and all the guys up front great guys always willing to help and get you taken care of. I have had some car trouble as of late I was stranded on the side of the road and called these guys up at 5:55pm they answered and said go ahead and have it towed to us we will get it up and running for you.... once I arrived with the car on the tow truck 6:45pm there was still a guy waiting for me waiting to take my car in.... Very disappointed with the recent customer service at big johns. I have been a customer of big johns for many years and the last time I went in to inquire about some service for my vehicle the man at the counter was rude, very quick, and not willing to offer assistance or guidance and I was the only person in the shop at the time (wasn't trying to hurry because there were customers waiting). Don't even CONSIDER having these guys give you any advice on performance. After spending over 25k at "Big" John's on the rebuild of a Camaro I finally had to pull it out of their shop to have it finished somewhere else. To add insult to injury there were MANY things that I had paid to have done that were completly hacked (exhaust, brakes and Dakota Digital instuments to name a FEW). I also bought a "refurbished" Muncie transmission that developed a seal leak that we agreed that I would have repaired somewhere else for a $400.00 store credit. When I went to collect John refused to deliver. BUT DON'T BELIEVE ME - just ask around at ANY car show or performance event and you will find that this "performance" shop is a joke. They should stick to overpriced tires and batteries. read more

I have been going there for many years and have spent thousands of dollars there. John does great work but has let those younger egotistical young punks take over the show. I recently had an issue there with a job. Rob sets up a truck the way he likes it, and not the way a customer wants. After spending $2600 on wheels tires and a lift, I was unhappy with the size and set up that he ordered. And when I asked him to change out the tires, he turns it all around and throws it in my face. Not only did Rob lie about what happened during the deal, he and Josh begin shouting at me in front of numerous other customers at the front counter causing them to all turn their heads. They also accused me of trying to bring back damaged tires and cheat them out of the deal. John I hope you read this review, you know who I am. i hope you resolve this matter because it's beginning to be a common issue there from what I've heard. Sold me tires that are already almost a year old. I called them out on it and all they did was try to give me a pitch about the warranty starting from purchase date. The warranty hardly covers anything anyway, so that argument is irrelevant when what I care about is the tires lasting. On top of passing off a "new" almost year old set of tires, they also parked my vehicle across the street in the Target parking lot and left it there all weekend. When I saw it sitting there completely unattended and for anyone to steal, I took it home. I expected a call from someone either telling me my tires were ready or my vehicle was missing and I got neither ...for weeks!!! Finally called them and they said the tires were ready and to bring back the vehicle so they can be put on. Bring it back, they dont have the right lugnuts. So my "new" tires have been sitting out for weeks unattended and not once did anyone bother to check if the lugnuts they ordered were the right type. A few days later I come back, they have the right type but wrong size? seriously?! I tell them Ive had it and just leave with the tires and will get them mounted somewhere else. If things are this bad just trying to get tires I cant imagine getting actual mechanic service done here. They seem to be way too busy to provide good service so do yourself and them a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Brought my classic mustang here for alignment after having new stock suspension installed, was told that they could do it. Received my car back, alignment tech said "he did the best he could." That's sounds like a quality professional. After driving around for a week noticed my tires where wearing inside to outside on tread pattern. Thank you Big Johns, I had to go out and buy 2 new tires and had the alignment redone right. Over $400 down the drain and wasted a whole day of my time. read more

Today I had a nail in my tire and another place down the street said it was not repairable and a new tire would be $350. I only went there because the BMW service place was next door and I needed an oil change. Which they also couldn't do because they were too busy. I immediately thought of Big John's because I've always had awesome and honest service there. They charged me $20 and fixed my flat!!!! I also got my oil changed and an included car wash for $109. (Better than another quote I received that day as well). Big John's took care of it all! I am sooooo thankful for these guys. Called and understood they don't take appointments, however we showed up when they opened and numerous cars were ahead of me as several cars were left over from day before - which is not a problem. But walked in the front door and met with Josh (manager & I believe owners son). Needed an alignment and everything tightened & checked. ( back story: had just purchased and replaced shocks, Evo lift kit on my own, which we have installed before) Josh then became very irritated and commented it was going to take hours to fix my install & the mix match parts I put in . I explained I have done this before and know what I was doing. He then proceeded to tell me " I don't like your attitude, so kick rocks and get out of my store"! Wow! Only place I go for work on my trucks! They have done suspension/lift/wheels/tires on several trucks for me over the years. Yes, you'll need a little patience if you want to lift, or lower your ride and have a wheel/tire package installed. These guys are good and people know it. So don't expect your stuff done in a few hours if it's a big job. Sure I have been frustrated at times with a delay in parts or my project not being finished on time. However, I try to keep in mind, I want my rig set up right and not rushed! All of the guys are cool, laidback and knowledgeable. I try to always work with Josh. Nothing against the rest of the crew, they're solid guys, but Josh has always come through for me, so I go with him whenever I need anything. read more

I found this place online when we were getting ready to drive to Anaheim for a part (hour and a half drive for me) so I tried to see if I can find something closer to me. I don't know what I searched that brought me to big johns website. My boyfriend called them and asked if they had a specific part in stock and they did! I was so happy because this trip would be 30 min or less. So off we went to big johns. Immediately greeted when we got there and waited about 2-3 minutes for an associate to help since they were busy. I wish I got the name of the gentleman that helped us because he was so nice! Extremely unhappy with Big Johns. I live in Washington state and was passing through town on my way out to Texas for a job. On the way from Seattle down, a seal where my driveshaft meets the rear differential gave out and was spinning out oil under the whole underside of my hummer. I called up big johns (only place open on Saturday) and asked if they would be able to replace this seal. I was very very specific which seal considering my hummer is 4wd and there are two driveshafts and two differentials (front and rear). To properly replace this seal, the differential pinon nut has to be torqued accordingly which is why I didn't do it myself. They let my know that they had the resources and tools to complete this task but today being 1pm on a Saturday, they wouldn't be able to finish it. They let me know however that they would put it on the rack to take a look and get me a price by the end of the day. I had my phone by my side the rest of the day but no phone call. Monday morning I called them at 8am to check up (a.k.a I need my car guys). They told me they would get it up on the rack (same thing they said Saturday) and get me an estimate. 11:30 AM i called again to see what's going on, getting kind of frustrated at this point. They again told me they are about to put it up on the rack and midway through his sentence one of the guys cuts him off and tells him the estimate created for my car. It was reasonably priced and AGAIN I explained which seal it was and how vital it was to me getting back on the road again. They said it would only be an hour or so (to be completed 12:30pm). 1:30 I showed up thinking all I had to do was sign the papers and had the piece of plastic over to pay. I stood there for 35ish mins before the guys upfront ended their conversation and asked if I had been helped yet. I let them know I'm the owner of the hummer and they said it was still on the rack and should be only 10 or 20 more minutes... 4 HOURS PASSED. I REPEAT FOUR HOURS. It was kinda hysterical at that point because I heard them tell the same information to people who brought their cars in for a simple tire nail patch. Each person ended up staying there for hours... I do not understand how this place keeps its business. 5:30 I finally get word that my hummer is finished. They apologized and said that a car was blocking my hummer and the parts for that car arrived late so they could not move it out of the way of my hummer. I paid early to get it out of the way since I was anxious to leave. Walking out the door, the technician drives by in my hummer taking it around the block (not even sure if this is legal) he came back and said everything was good. I went on the ground under my rear axle, showing him all the oil that had spewed out on my drive down, he looked at me kind of weird and said "yeah you should get that fixed". Confused, I asked him what he meant. He said that he noticed this leak as he was changing the seal. After going back and forth I realized HE DID THE WRONG SEAL. THE WRONG SEAL WHICH I THOROUGHLY EXPLAINED more than twice. He gave me the sheet of paper explained the repair requested and apparently whoever I spoke to about the issue wrote down a very simplistic description on the work order "seal from driveshaft to differential". Not once did I describe the problem this simply. I was very very clear that it was the pinon seal where the drive shaft meets the rear differential. The mechanic changed the front axle seal. A seal I could've replaced in a driveway. I am extremely unsatisfied with this business and I would encourage people to go else where. At this point I'm concerned because I've just wasted a bunch of time at big johns, and the problem is still occurring. The leak was so bad, I would not make it to Texas without constantly refilling my differential fluid or without completely blowing a differential. First thing Tuesday morning, I found a jeep shop in Santa Clarita and explained my story to them. They were just as amazed as I was with my experience at big johns and put my hummer on the rack in under 5 minutes. I was expecting to be there for hours. The technician changed the seal out in under 30 minutes and I was on my way. Listen to these bad reviews. I looked past the negative reviews and boy was I wrong. Never again read more

Was not happy at how my car was poorly worked on. My car sat there over a month waiting for them to complete repairs, they couldn't get the parts. I had to find a vender to ship them my own parts to try and finish my repairs they missed half the list I had gave them to work. Definitely don't recommend poor customer service! read more

I had never been there before but a very honest business they have a lot of repeat customers and a great waiting area with a TV to watch. Very clean waiting area. I went to Big John's after searching yelp and asking around for a knowledgeable tire shop to mount some tires I ordered online. Everything was good until I did a walk around on my M3, to find that they cosmetically damaged two of my expensive aftermarket wheels! Three guys who seemed to run the place checked the wheels out, first saying I'd curbed them (obviously not the case) and then steadfastly insisting such damage could not have happened at their shop, despite me explaining that I'd inspected the wheels just before driving over. I made what I considered a very reasonable offer: that they split the wheel repair cost with me, and they flatly turned me down. I won't be going back to these guys, their workmen are no better than big chain suppliers and their customer service is far worse. read more

If you have to pass a drug test anytime soon, AVOID THIS PLACE! There is almost always someone smoking weed in the work areas, which can easily cause people within 1,000 yards to fail a drug test...... That being said.... This used to be a FABULOUS place! Until Big John quit coming around. Now, they'd rather try to intimidate you, rather than do any work for you. They'll give you anything, except what you ask for (told them I wanted an MSD starter for $325, then they tried charging me over twice that for one so cheap, it didn't even have a manufacturer name on it, and it died in less than a month and they refused to honor their own warranty), they'll tell you "Come in tomorrow at 8am" and even when you get there before that, you will be LUCKY if they don't wait till 4pm to tell you to come back again the next day, and the next, and the next. Not to mention they can get VERY arrogant and vulgar, even if all you do is ask what your options are for parts. Had to tell their welder FIVE TIMES to stop shining his ultra bright flashlight directly in my face, and he kept doing it, at very close range. Will NEVER set foot on their property again, especially after they took it upon themselves to do work on my motorcycle without my knowledge or consent, in which they also drilled 6 holes in my windshield to install a bull horn that I never even asked them to order. I told them to let me know a price, and then I would let them know if I wanted it. They NEVER told me anything about a price, then I show up there one day on my bike, parked in the back, went into the lobby for a bit, came out, and find that there's this huge eye sore of a bullhorn bolted to my plastic windshield, and wired straight to my starter solenoid (two counts of EXTREME stupidity) then they tried charging me $350 for it (NOT including labor), when it retails for $69. When I explained to them that I NEVER told them to order it, and never told them that they could install it (especially to my windshield) they decided to start with personal attacks. read more

Very disappointed to the point where I need to write this review. I walked into this facility at approximately 8:40am and saw about three customers sitting in the lounge area who were waiting for the completion of their car and one in front of the service desk. I figured I would stand behind him and patiently wait my turn. Being there were 4 male adults behind the counter I figured I would be next. I was never given ANY acknowledgement but I figured that was not part of their conduct. Not always necessary but it would be an added benefit of some place where you will spend your money. After 5 minutes of waiting another male customer walks in and sits in one of the stools in front of the desk. Still no acknowledgement to either of us but we were entertained by the stories of the workers car club to the only customer that had the attention of the 4 workers. NOT REALLY. Anyhow about after another 5-10 minutes that passed another worker came in from the work area and immediately walks over to the gentleman who walked in after me and started to help him. Not a single worker acknowledged that I was next and they continued with other stories of how they know third parties fathers etc. Being oblivious and self-centered is not a good trait for businesses in the SCV. This is only one situation that occurred with me and this business. Several years ago I had them install tires for me. They put the front rims on the rear of the vehicle and the rear in the front. They did not realize that my vehicle uses different size from the front and rear of the vehicle. I was not able to drive the vehicle because of this. They also appeared to be bothered that they had to change them back being it was close to the time where they had to go home. It was not my fault but they acted in that manner. Being they are a business that deals with alignment and tires you would think they would have knowledge of this-again they are very oblivious to their surroundings. Today I thought I would give them another try even though their history with me was not good. However, after this situation I would never go back to them because I am huge on customer service. If a business can offer 0 customer service, they should get 0 business. I also read another person's review where it is stated that you will get good service only if you have a personal relationship with the staff. They better have a lot of friends because I understand that being a good business person involves being good at business, not only being a good friend. read more
