It was really affordable, the room was small but modern, 24 hour front desk so i felt safe as a lone traveler, the area is pretty lively at night. There's a cab line right in front of the hotel so that's a huge plus, if you book a tour The Bayswater Sydney is right next door to a centrally located hotel that all tours pick you up from, it was just the most easy place to stay. I had everything i needed right there. there are restaurants, corner stores, bars, clubs surrounding the hotel. and if none of those interested me then I just hopped in a cab right out front and went on my way. Every cab knew where my hotel was and I was never lost! there's a pieface around the corner HUGE +! I'm not sure if they are located everywhere like Starbucks is in NY but I was just happy to have an amazing meat pie every day!!! The hotel was quiet at night and you barely run into people. It's a nice boutique hotel. I stayed in the small double and I tell you ITS SMALL! two people can stay there but it'll have to be a couple that know each other well because if you're shy about being heard using the bathroom then forget about it, the small double isn't for you! But it was perfect for me because I was alone. The bathroom is nice and modern looking but small of course with a stand up showers with glass doors. You get free 24 hour access to the gym across the street, there's a tours desk, flat screen TV (unfortunately crappy channels) a fridge, closet with plenty of space, a desk and that's it. I had a good stay here and i would do it again! NOW GO! Lay your head on the Bayswater Sydney!

We stayed here for a total of seven nights late…read morelast year during what was a homecoming visit Australia for me, and works stay here again. ++ Location, location, location: steps from Kings Cross station as well as countless shopping, dining, and entertainment. Super tiny rooms but we managed an ensuite with a little extra per night, and it was well worth it. On at least one occasion I had to use the common bath/shower room, and the facility was surprisingly tidy and clean. Did I say how tiny the rooms are? We stayed in two different rooms for two check-ins, as while there was a major problem with the shower, the room was clean and had pretty everything we needed for a short stay. TV...and it worked! - - Okay, the ensuite shower: it's not even that it was 1m x 1m, but the shower recess being so close to the sliding door, coupled with the already cramped bathroom space, meant an inevitable and annoying flooding into the room every.single.time! The only partial solution we found was extra towels, but I hope it gets fixed somehow. Brick facade 'view' out the window really didn't bother us since we were in the room only to wash and sleep. Noise: yes, we could here the footsteps and hollers late at night, but they didn't last quite long enough to make it impossible to sleep. All in all, we had a good stay and would go back.

Easily accessible to Woolloomooloo wharf and wherever you need to go. The service upon checking in was ok, nothing wrong with it. The room was a double bunk with single on top and extra single. At one point the guy asked my husband how it was all going. He said jokingly, 'Great. We've got four beds between the two of us.' Then the guy said, 'oh, can we move you.' I'm pregnant so my husband said probably not. The guy tried again but then stopped. I'm really glad he didn't pursue it. I would not have been happy. It was a bit of a struggle for me up to the second floor. The place is pretty secure. A coded gate after hours and another code to get to the floors. Bathrooms are ok, a bit of a squeeze and water changed temperature a bit top often. The room came with two towels which was just as well because we didn't bring any. It was clean and good enough for us for our purpose. Can't beat the price.

The wooden floors creak, it's noisy with thin walls & it's above a bar, but nevertheless it is well located and showing its age, which is okay, actually. It is wildly expensive for what you get, but still a fun place to stay for a short while. Note: you must pay a surcharge for en suite facilities and for WI-FI. Not cool. I'd love to give them 4 stars, but it's just not there.

Anyway I always thought the Russell was its own pub, however on my last visit I had to go and find the little boy's room, so I went down the back, along the hallway, and discovered that I had walked into the Fortune of War. Okay, maybe it is the one and the same pub, but they certainly look at lot different (and the Russell is somewhat more expensive, as well as not having midis on offer, which I find somewhat annoying). Anyway, I've come here a couple of times but I can't say the place really enthuses me all that much. Sure it is a nice looking pub, but it does seem a bit classy. Also I ordered a Mountain Goat IPA, a beer that I regularly drink, and it didn't seem all that right. I'll probably give it a pass next time I'm in Sydney.

Today there is a karaoke event going on in the bar in the next room. Add about 2000 starlings outside trying to settle for the night and it's very noisy. Other times I have walked through and it's very quiet. They have some interesting menu items but what is on the website is more extensive than what is actually offered. No veggie nachos, for example. They have beef nachos but you can't take the beef off because it's all mixed together already. I ordered the nachos anyway, figuring I could separate the beef, which I was able to do partially. I liked the dish over all. There was a goodly pile of chips with the beef mixture, guac and sour cream. I would have liked more beans. The tomato bits and jalapeños added flavor. With the addition of a draw of Tooey's it was a tasty meal. The place wasn't busy and the staff wear masks as do customers. There's a sign on the door that says you must be vaccinated to come in, but I don't know if they check it.

I chose this hotel mainly because it's located near CBD, adjacent to George St, and within walking distance to several touristy spots. Reviews for Meriton were very positive, and although there are multiple locations in the CBD (Pitt St, Kent St, and World Tower on Liverpool St), Campbell St was the cheapest. ROOM -- Meriton Serviced Apartments' rooms are designed to be the size of a cozy and luxurious apartment, yet it functions as a hotel. Our apartment had a king-sized bed, a separate bathroom with shower, a kitchenette with a fridge, stovetop, microwave, plates, pots, and cooking utensils, a dining table, a flatscreen TV, an iPod docking system, a desk, and washer & dryer. The room was very spacious for two adults. The amazingly soft and comfortable bed made me want to sleep in all day and skip exploring the city. The kitchen is nice to have if you plan to cook. AMENITIES -- Meriton has a pool and gym, both open from 5am to 10pm daily. There's free room service and delivery from nearby restaurants if orders exceed $20. Guests can use up to a maximum of 1GB of free WiFi daily. With a washer and dryer in each room, you can also do your laundry if needed. Liquid detergent is provided. Paid parking is also available. LOCATION -- Meriton is on Campbell St (adjacent to George St, but not on George St), so it's a little quieter. The free 555 bus is right around the corner too. The hotel is within walking distance to several popular spots: Chinatown and Paddy's Market (less than 0.5 km, 3 min), Darling Harbour (1.5 km, 15 min), The Rocks, Circular Quay, the Harbour Bridge, and the Opera House (2.5 km, 30 min). The Chinatown/ Thaitown/ Haymarket neighborhood area felt safe at night, because there's always people around, so I didn't feel worried or paranoid walking back to the hotel past 10pm. STAFF -- Reception was extremely nice and friendly. Check in starts at 2pm, and check out is 10am latest, and it was a quick process. Reception is open 24 hours, so if anything was needed at 3am, someone could assist you. During check in, we were given a map of CBD and surrounding neighborhoods (Darlinghurst, Surry Hills, Potts Point) and were told where the best places to visit were located. Rooms were serviced daily, which included towel and soaps replacement, made beds, and cleared rubbish bins. Overall, staying at Meriton was a wonderful experience. Services were great and location was convenient. The hotel is all about energy conservation. Hallway lights were motion sensitive, so they remained dim unless a guest walked by and triggered a sensor. The room lights, TV, and outlets were always off, unless you activate them by putting your room key card into a slot by the door. Also, the hotel has high security and doesn't allow visitors past 11pm; guests are required to scan their room key card in order to use the elevator. If I ever go back to Sydney (and I hope I do!), I would definitely stay at Meriton again.

The service has improved slightly, this time our studio was serviced after the 3rd night of our 5 night stay. However we requested fresh towels after the 2nd night - and returned to our apartment to find the new towels, but the used towels were still on the bathroom floor. Apart from this little hiccup we were happy with our stay - the studio apartment was well equipped and spacious and the bed was super comfortable. We did find the on-site parking very challenging - the vehicular lift is very small!! 15 April 2022 Great Chinatown location We had a spacious, modern, well equipped studio apartment in an excellent location just on the edge of Chinatown. When we checked in, we were advised that our apartment would not be serviced at all during our stay (contrary to the information provided in our booking confirmation) but we could request towels, supplies, assistance etc from the guest services team. This was ok but we stayed for 5 days - which is a bit too long to go without a service. The in-room laundry facilities were really useful and the fully-equipped gym was excellent - except the air conditioning did not work at all during our 5-day stay. This is a good option for a budget friendly stay in Sydney CBD.

It's within walking distance of the botanic gardens, Elizabeth Bay, Potts Point, and if you're really keen (I was) you can even walk a bit farther to downtown, Circular Quay, the Opera House, and Sydney Harbour Bridge. We became very familiar with the couple that worked here. They were so friendly and every morning they always wanted to make sure everything was perfect, which it was. The breakfasts that they put out were scrumptious! Choices of cereal, tea, coffee, toppings for your cereal, english muffins, cheese, ham, fruit... Wonderful! The rooms are spacious and a bit old looking, but everything seemed to be working well. There is also a living room that has books and comfy couches, and complimentary PORT! I may have taken advantage of that. I'm getting nostalgic thinking about this place and if I'm ever in Sydney and have the money I'd want to stay here! It's really a wonderful place with wonderful people.

Awesome location, but sub par amenities. Coming from America, we unfortunately forgot our converter. We asked the front desk if there were any, and were told no. They provided then to their guests, but the guests never returned them, so when they ran out, they RAN OUT. Sorry. Ummm..okaaay. So, what about wifi? We were told: Since you went thru a 3rd party like Expedia..and didn't directly book with us, you have to pay for WiFi. Well excuse me madam, but we would have never heard about your apartments if it wasn't for Expedia. Why are we being punished?? That was super rude and wrong! Finally after making a complaint that since there wasn't even a business center to use to check in for our flights, the front desk made an allowance to give us the WiFi password. Thanks! Regardless of the ridiculous WiFi rule, the location was sweet. Right next to the ferries. It also was in the same lotof Sails restaraunt. A little pricey, but right on the waterfront. Sidenote: there are a lot of trees in the area,and parrots will land on your window sill. It was really beautiful to wake up and have your coffee overlooking the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge...but also have red and green parrots land on your windowsill to boot!! Only in Sydney! They also provide delicious muffins at the checkin desk in the mornings. ONLY on weekdays. Saturday and Sunday you have to find your own! Enjoy!
