Cheap merchandise marked up higher than it should be so it can be "marked down" to a "sale price" that is really what retail price should be. Some of the staff really should find something else to do. Last trip over there (it will actually be the LAST trip for me), I said hi to the fellow at the register as I entered. He didn't even acknowledge. The item that was advertised was not exactly what the advertisement said. No; not merino wool socks, polyester socks with 21% wool. But the price was ok enough to at least try them. Same dude at the register had a customer who really didn't have stuff together and kept sending kids to go take things back and get more stuff. Eventually the customer just walked away. The staff NEVER EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED MY EXISTENCE much less just went ahead to ring up my ONE item and send me on my way. The other customer came back and started asking all kinds of silly questions, like "How many items am I buying?" I left the socks and walked out never to return. My advice is avoid this business. I can't say if staff at other locations are the same, but I'm sure the business model is -- inflate prices so they can go "on sale" and only slightly more than what they should be. Oh well. Maybe somebody will open a decent sporting goods store in Corvallis again. Remember Andersen's? They had it all. Even Les & Bob's was a good resource. Nope. We got cheap-O Big Five and another local shop that claims to be an outdoor store, but they really just sell expensive clothes. read more
