I got a pork sandwich platter with a side of brisket for $23. Their sauce is a little spicy and I like it! Sides are pretty good as well. Overall a solid BBQ joint.

The wings were smoked, honey hot, and came with a homemade sauce which was delicious. All the bbq items were super tender, melt in your mouth, plain awesome. The staff were all very helpful and I had questions on cook time, when things were wrapped etc. which they were happy to discuss. I think they excelled most at tenderness. The meats weren't very Smokey which my daughter loved but my son lamented. The flavor of the meats were all excellent. The cornbread, also excellent. They place has a backyard bbq feel to it which we liked. There is a parking lot out back, we never had a problem parking but the lot was not huge. This was also the least expensive dinner/lunch we had. I terms of value you cannot beat this. Update: we went back the next day because.. why not? Got more ribs, turkey and brisket burnt ends. So good, so very very good!

It actually felt comfortable and welcoming and had a really good, casual barbecue-joint vibe. The pulled pork sandwich was good, and I appreciated the attention to detail, especially the buttered and toasted bun. The pork had very good flavor, and I got quite a bit of bark in my sandwich, which I normally love. What surprised me was that the bark didn't seem to have any seasoning on it. There were some fairly large pieces from the outside of the pork butt, and I was expecting to see a good coating of seasoning, with visible salt, pepper, garlic, and other spices on the outside of the pork. Instead, there really wasn't any seasoning on it at all. It was basically just the browned exterior of the pork. The meat was also a little dry, almost like it might have been a day past its prime, but it still had good flavor. The Brunswick stew was very tasty, although it was thinner than I expected. I'm used to Brunswick stew being pretty thick and hearty, and this was definitely on the thinner side. The portion was also surprisingly small. It came in a little ramekin that I'd consider closer to half a side than a full side. Service was a little unusual. The guy working the counter when I ordered didn't seem particularly comfortable dealing with customers. After I paid, another gentleman who appeared to be the owner came back and took over the front. He was extremely friendly and made a point of thanking me for stopping by, which left me with a much better impression. Overall, there were a few things I think could have been better, but nothing that would keep me from coming back. The food had good flavor, the place had a welcoming feel, and I definitely want to give Sparky's another try. Next time, I'm going for the brisket.

If you know Dickey's, then you know what to expect from layout, decor, ordering flow and of course, food. The only different thing with this location that you do not see too often is they have a photo wall, where if you pay $5, you can get up on the wall. Lots of folks do it and it seems to be a cool way to engage folks and make memories, even through a chain restaurant. Food wise, we went with a few classics. Pulled pork sandwich with a side of slaw, then a Two Meat plate, with turkey and jalapeño cheddar sausage sided with fried okra and green beans. The sandwich and slaw were classic, the jalapeño sausage was solid, while the turkey was a bit dry...but the star of the meal, which is honestly one of the main reasons we stopped in, was the fried okra. Always perfectly fried and on point...worth the macros. Service was friendly, helpful and efficient. The owners are super kind, and pay it forward for the local community, which is noted in several places throughout the restaurant. While Dickey's is not the best BBQ by far, it is consistent, well portioned and tasty. No major issues and we will definitely be back when in PP and craving a bit of easy, fast casual BBQ!

Sometimes it's not all about the food but the people and reason behind the business and food. One guy was working this location all by himself. The food way really good the second time I stopped by. I had gotten a brisket sandwich earlier that week bc I was coming into town for a week. It was terrible and the bread was awful. I had to give it a second change on the way out of town. It was a great experience. Food was sweet tea was great. I really enjoy Dickey's vibe. They support the right stuff. Glad to see it.
