Great experience here! The owners were very nice and the campsite was perfect for our big tent. This was the first campground I have been to that I felt comfortable enough to let my small children go off to play at the park without "helicopter parenting". My husband and I stayed at Big Cedar a while back. While it was centrally located to many attractions, it is also located on M-77, which turned out to be a pretty busy road during our stay. The noise from the road made relaxation difficult. Even though it's located on the river, the view is very limited. We did end up taking a canoe trip down the river. The owner informed us that we would need to portage a short distance down the river but that it was an easy task. It turned out that it was very difficult for us, as well as others ahead and behind us. It is a very steep hill to climb up, without steps, rocks or otherwise to climb up, making it very slick. Re-entry to the river was also difficult. Exiting the river at the campground was just as taxing. Cell service was also an issue for us, as I had to cross the street to get a signal to call out. read more

I would love to know what was rude. I told you the site I was on had no grass and that your kayak exit was unsafe and I fell and maybe it should be improved for future guests. Maybe you're exaggerating on here so people think you had a reason for your attitude??? UPDATE: And now they're name calling because I called them out for giving out my name to a friend of theirs who wrote a fake review. Avoid this place and these people at all costs. The perfect campground for me and my friends! All sights are water and electric and the bathhouse is very clean and we could even do our laundry! Highly recommend one of their kayak/tube trips down the Manistique river It was so much fun. We had a ton of fun hanging out around the fire at night and seeing everything that's around during the day given that Big Cedar is right in the middle of everything we wanted to do! 10/10 we are planning on staying here again! read more

After staying at the park for eight days, it was very tough to keep any Internet signal. We kept trying to go between two different WiFi sites on the campground. SMH that the owner was saying that it was my iPhone and not their system. We did not like the fact that one of our campers moved and they put somebody in between our group, even though it was paid for two more days. I expected a little more for the 45 dollars a night, some of our friends when they backed their fifth wheel in had the sewer on the opposite side and the water hook up, which meant that the sewer pipe had to go through your camping area rather than on the backside. I think some definite improvements are really needed. read more

We stayed here with a group of 5 RVs. We had fun but the campground service was awful. First, one of our group that was in the middle of our bunch left early. They were paid up until Tuesday but left on Sunday. The campground was almost empty. They booked an RV right in the middle of our group. We were using the sot as our gathering area. And we mentioned that it was paid up until Tuesday, they said as soon as you pill out it is there call. Bit they had an entire canpground to choose from. Then one of friends mentioned a few improvements regarding safety and they were so rude to her. For one, the exit from kayaking needs some help. One of our friends got hurt. Not nice people running this place. We will never go back! read more

Warning to all those with big families who want to camp here with kids and dogs: if you want to camp more than a day and explore the area, go somewhere else. We had a horrible experience here and we will never go back!! We felt like public enemy number one for doing something that would be trivial at FUN campgrounds. Owners are not professional when there is a conflict. There were workers who spied on our family the entire time we were there to report back to the office. We are making this review as vague as possible but the owner will probably still reply to it and refute because that is how petty she is. read more

If you want a pet-friendly place to camp, good luck. if you don't mind having a park employee spying on you all the time, YOU HAVE IT! Setting your tent in a full-on mud pit. taking cold showers. THEY ARE HERE, if you have a polite disagreement with the owner they will yell out all kinds of things like "You are the worst camper I have ever had!" loud enough so everyone in the camp can hear! The owner will then threaten you with "I will call the Police!" Our group's disagreement was over an alleged barking dog inside a trailer. On our first day out of camp, we didn't take the dog. some of our group came back to camp early and didn't hear the dog bark. There was the first note on the trailer door. The next day we had another excursion planned without the dog, some of our party came back to camp early to see if the dog was barking. No barking but there was note #2 on the door. The next two days we were going to places we could take the dog. On our final full day in camp, we again couldn't take the dog along. When we came back into camp the spy was watching for us to arrive and ran to tell the owner. We were going to leave early the next morning we had started to hook up to the trailers before nighttime and then were going to make dinner. The owner came to camp and gave the dog owner a paper stating he had 30 minutes to leave the camp. Because we were leaving in the morning we called his bluff. Who in their right mind would kick a family out at 9:00 PM on a Friday night, when they were leaving the next AM? They called the State Police to come and evict the family. While talking with the Officer I found out that I was evicted also Both my wife and I are in our 70's and had a 5-year-old grandson with us. Friday night at 9:00 pm with nowhere to go or lined up to go to, our home was 10 hrs away. All over an alleged dog barking, I had asked several of our camp neighbors if they had heard the dog barking. They stated "no" This is not what I would call a great pet-friendly camp! read more

I too chose this campground for its location. Nice, very basic campground. Bring plenty of mosquito spray! Campground is on the Manistique River, but with limited accessibility to it. Two small spots to fish if you can stand the mosquitoes. Quiet place, except for the logging trucks out on the highway. Bathrooms are pretty basic and somewhat clean. Shower heads are great for a five foot person, taller than that your squatting to wash your hair...lol Bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible. Party store a mile north closes at 11 pm and the Jolly Inn across the street has decent food. Good place to disconnect from the world since WiFi is limited to close to the office and AT&T cell service for us did not work at our spot next to the river. read more

Quiet campground right on the Manistique river. Sites were average size and mostly grass. All sites had water and electric. The restrooms were clean with plenty of hot water. Laundry on site was very convenient. Playground had enough equipment to keep the kids busy. Basketball hoop, volleyball, horseshoes, tetherball, swings, etc. Nothing fancy but it worked. Campground had ice available, wood for sale and a limited number of snacks. Barry, the owner, was always around to help with issues. Thanks for the extra hose! He is a little quirky but very accommodating. A little warning, if you're a camping snob this place is not for you. If you're looking for laid back camping you found it. We would stay there again. read more

Loved it here!! Such nice hosts! Big Cedar is right in the middle of anything & everything you want to see or do. The sites are a mix of shady & sunny right on the river & tend to be a little on the small side but nice & level. Restrooms/showers are nice & clean. Germfask, located right on the edge of the Seney Wildlife Refuge (make sure you do the auto tour) is small & it is about a 10 minute drive in all directions for gas. There is a grocery store with a limited variety of groceries & a bar/grill, anything more is a going to be a bit of a drive. I highly recommend staying here if you're in the area!! read more
