The Good: You will definitely catch fish. Lots of fish! There are tons of fish literally visible from where you stand. You can see at least 50 of them from any place you stand. You dont even have to cast your line -- you could literally just drop the line down and a fish will bite. This is an excellent place for children since they will definitely catch fish and will leave happy. The staff here is very friendly and accomodating. They provide everything you need to enjoy your fishing experience -- rods, worms, buckets, ice, etc. They even clean your fish when you're done. We asked them to fillet the fish and they did an amazing job! There is a large lake with trout, medium lake with bass, and a small lake with trout. Again, you will catch lots of fish regardless of the lake you select. The Bad: Their rods are very outdated and do not function well. They get jammed often and the staff is eager to help but it just happens again. I recommend coming with your own rods -- especially since they charge $10.00 to rent a rod which costs under $30.00 to purchase. I also recommend fishing in the large lake since it will take you a few minutes to catch a fish, as opposed to the small and medium lake which is pretty much instantly. It also gets a bit pricey since besides paying for the admission, rentals, etc., you're also paying about $10.00 per fish. We caught 6 fish within 20 minutes, so if you're going to spend hours there, you're bill will be in the hundreds. Lastly, the ridiculously easy way of catching the fish sorta takes away the true fishing experience where you go and actually try to catch fish as opposed to here where it's pretty much guaranteed without even trying.

Before I review The Lakes I just want to say the staff members I encountered were absolutely fabulous. Now the Links were full of trout off to the left side of the main house. To the right where bass fish in the lake. I chose to fish for trout. I caught one the smallest one of the three. You can literally see the fish swimming in the water. The fish that were caught are to be kept and paid for. However they do have in the same late bluegills and yellow perch which probably came in the delivery as fry or eggs and they grew into the small fish less than 3 oz in weight. These fish should always be thrown back I don't know if they allow it but I did see some people throwing them back which I'm going to assume it's okay. Don't ask me ask the people who own and run the lake. I feel all baby fish should be given the opportunity to survive. And if this establishment wants to have a good look I think they would agree that returning small fry and Adolescent perch bluegill back to the water would be the correct thing to do. We stayed approximately 45 minutes and then Wade our fish paying a whopping $30 for three fish. I will never do that again. I must admit the fish were tasty after we got them home and cook them but clearly the price per pound is not fair market at least not on the day we were there. The grounds were kept neat and tidy.

Don't visit this place. Rude staff. Accused us of purposely throwing back fish. Meanwhile we had a bucket overflowing with fish.

They caught beautiful trout--a 4-pound brown, a palomino and rainbows in about a half-hour.

Anyway I had a fabulous time. Read on for more por favor. My commentary is about the HIKING - nothing more nothing less. We had a tri-chapter meetup with my peeps from Body Liberation Outdoor Club - Northern NJ, Hudson Valley, and Eastern PA. Btdubs, if you're looking to enjoy the outdoors in an affirming space, holler at me. Anyway, we met at the Christman, Falls, and Cove Ridge trailhead and hiked a substantial loop to the falls, the Pohopoco river(?), and in and out of the woods. It was fantastic! Some nice elevation, soft packed trails, not too much mud, leafy forest bed, and as is common on the east coast - some roots and rocks to make sure you're paying attention. 5 miles of glorious spring sunshine and whispering trees. Couldn't ask for more! You Should Know: -parking at this trailhead is safe - room for about 8 or 9 cars and directly across from houses -this trail is NOT accessible -some parts of the trail sit high above the river - watch your step or else you'll take a devastating tumble to the great beyond -about 3/4 mile grassy walk to the actual trail from the parking area -If you use All Trails app, it was surprisingly accurate IYKYK - no bathrooms anywhere near here - pack in and pack out

We wanted a quiet walk along the banks of the lake and found the best place for us to park and walk was at the Pavillion 2. Loved finding all those tiny white shells along the banks.
