There is no little and no overgrowth, though a few of the paved lanes through the park could use some pothole attention. Nothing that you can't drive around though. There is a dedicated area for veterans and they do offer appropriate funeral honors. It is a peaceful park and nice for a walk to explore though it is not shaded at all. My solar light, solar powered hot air balloon, and flowers were all stolen from the marker. When I called the cemetery to question them, they told me a group of teenagers 'cleaned them out'. I'm still not sure if the teenagers were hired or they just came through and took what they wanted. Either way, they had no right to take anything from the marker. This is MY property and if I find out who took MY stuff, I will press charges! It doesn't get any lower than this for these so-called human beings. The Cemetery people said they were responsible, which they are and that these teenagers were assigned to clean up the trashy looking stuff which is all well and fine. I assure you, however, my husband's marker has NEVER been trashy looking. I, and or my granddaughter visit it frequently and refurbish it with flowers / decorations. They said some of the stuff had been recouped and may be in the yards manager's shed. I want my stuff back and I want it back now! Below is a picture of the marker before it was all stolen!

Marker L-71 reads, "Cornwallis' men buried here in 1781. Granted to city in 1770 by British government. Grave of Gov. John W. Ellis is here." The online essay has more information. "The land for what has come to be known as the Old English Cemetery in Salisbury was originally set aside for the town by the colonial assembly in 1770. The title for the "Burying Ground" was assigned to the town commissioners, one of whom was Thomas Frohock. Frohock donated the plot to the city upon his death in 1794. Over the ensuing decades the cemetery became the final resting place for generations of the leaders of Rowan County. Best known of those individuals was Gov. John Ellis (1820-1861), who died seven months into his term as the state's chief executive. The cemetery includes a number of unmarked British graves, those likely being the remains of soldiers in Cornwallis's army who died while in jail in Salisbury. Cornwallis's camp was situated on the property where the Rowan Public Library now stands and his soldiers used the old town well at the back of the library property. "The oldest grave in the cemetery is that of Col. Daniel Little who died on December 10, 1775. The cemetery was restored by the Pine Tree Garden Club of Salisbury in the 1960s. The Freedmen's Cemetery is separated from the Old English Cemetery by a stone wall. In recent years efforts have been mounted to memorialize those buried in the Freedmen's Cemetery and to repair the monuments in the Old English Cemetery." This truely multi functional space offers "Broadway compatible" lighting, sound, print, and visual media support that runs the gamet of use from current kindergarters in a "summer camp" like setting to newly retired professional performers. For many years to come, this facility will help deliver to the greater LKN population the artistic focused support it has badly needed for so many years. They don't have a Genius Bar, but they sell the full range of Apple products. And since it is summertime the campus is empty; I have never seen them with a customer. You could walk in there at any time and have their full attention. I wish I had known about this store before my disastrous foray into the SouthPark melee. I know that some people enjoy the culture of the crowded Apple Store, but that's not for me. As far as I am concerned, this location is perfect.

This was done as to accommodate a situation where a local elevator vendor was not available. For a number of years these guys actually traveled 4 hours to support the elevators they installed (and did so promptly). We are now able to be supported by a local vendor in Wilmington, but to this day Mark and Robert both promptly return our calls to answer questions and provide valuable advice. The person was blocked by a vehicle that may have been for the county, or may have just been a person dropping off. They were there the whole time. Anyway, when you pull in, go directly to your right if you want to recycle something. There are different stations based on the material. The bins in the middle are for cardboard and such, all labeled so you can tell. The electronics were on the right side in a covered area. TV monitors and accessories are separate stops FYI. The exit was confusing... I drove toward the exit signs and they seemed to be leading to where the trash trucks were going?? I turned around and went back the way I came. You may never need to come here, but if you're disposing of a TV/computer monitor, this is the place to go, as it is illegal to throw out with curbside trash. This facility also seems to have compost/mulch services. They do a lot here, so it really is a good thing for the community. Just felt like I was wandering through a maze.
