I had a nice stay here in Big Bear. My room was near the lake area. Room was spacious, clean, and modern. The bathroom door was a strangely placed and need to be careful not to hit someone.

Wish we had more time to enjoy this gem! I booked our studio cabin in January '23- via telephone. Think I searched the website before making the phone call (can't remember that far back LOL). Here's the thing. The plan was to book a property in Big Bear to accommodate an overnight stay for my motorcycle gals to enjoy. But, as I was calling around various properties- many wanted a 2 night minimum of booking on a Friday or Saturday night during summer months. So, as I was on the phone with Big Bear Frontier, the agent mentioned if we booked in a Sunday night- a one night minimum is okay. And it worked out perfect! Didn't book this cabin for the gals- instead it was a Father's Day/ birthday getaway for hubby & I. There are many driveways to enter the property on Big Bear Blvd and Lakeview Drive. The lobby is spacious w/ a fireplace, board games, and places to sit and relax. Although 4pm is check in- we arrived early into Big Bear and grabbed lunch in the Village. By the time we were done- it was 2:30pm and I called the front desk- our cabin was ready! Whew! It worked perfect because we planned on leaving the following day at 7am. I totally forgot I booked the room with a jacuzzi inside! So, for a studio cabin- perfect size for 2 people- but, there are no sofas. The bed is super comfy. The bed and jacuzzi are in front of the tv. Seems like all cabins on property have a porch and some chairs to enjoy. Our cabin had a kitchen, decent sized mini fridge, toaster, coffee pot. Within walking distance to the Village! I would book here again, in a heartbeat.

Mostly very good. Very cute cabins in a great location. Our cabin was small, really only about the size of a small hotel room but it had everything we needed including a micro kitchen and a fireplace. Very comfortable bed and pleasant surroundings. And a pool with spa I'd come back

We loved our stay here in the summer, the front desk is so helpful and friendly and they worked with our plans. It is clean throughout the cabins, and the pool is clean and well maintained. It is located so close to the village you can totally walk there. It's only a few miles from grocery stores, gas stations, and the lake. We got a cabin with a full kitchen , 1 car port, and it was perfect for our end of summer getaway.

Our room looked just like on the internet. modern and clean. Although it's on the lake, there isn't a good "beach" area to spend time. Close to everything- The Village, Bowling, Alpine waterslide, which made it idea for us. I'd like to try their cabins on our next visit.

Loved this place! Upgraded last minute to a cabin & it was so cute! It's about 10 minutes to the mountain. Heater worked great inside, everything was clean & in good condition. I would return for another stay here.

I'm giving this place three stars because there's good and bad things about it. There are actually two sections one is the cabins that are single story. They have no air conditioning which is not really an issue however when we went in August it was pretty hot. The cabins actually have woodburning fireplaces . They have a second building across the street. It's a two story hotel type building with no elevator. The cabins are actually more expensive so I booked a hotel room in the two story building. Here's the good and bad. Good: 1. Close to village (15 min walk) that has restaurants and shops 2. The beds are very, very comfortable. 3. Has a huge bathtub which is good for kids or if you want to soak in a tub after a long day. 4. Dogs are allowed in every room. 5. The two story hotel building is right in front of the lake. It's nice to have your coffee what and Thank you ere's a table outside for the view. 6. Cute electric fireplace. 7. Has a huge bathroom countertop, which is nice. 8. There's a table that sits two in the room and the room is huge. Has a small fridge and microwave. Bad: 1. The two story hotel building is across a live street. It's very far from the Pool. 2. There is no fence in front of the lake in front of the two story hotel . kind of dangerous if you have children, you have to keep an eye on them. 3. To open the door is a flat card that you flash in front of the door and when it turns green you turn the handle however we could not open the door. It seem to be stuck when I went to the front desk to tell them that the door won't open and they responded with, it should open, not sure why it's not opening for you. I felt that this was very unprofessional and felt like they're not even listening to what I have to say, if you have poor hand Dexterity, you're gonna have a real issue opening the door. the people next to us also had the same problem. I had to take control of the situation and tell the front desk person what are you gonna do to help me? He seemed annoyed and said I'll send maintenance over. We had dinner reservations so we had to leave and then when we came back and found the front desk was closed. There's only a phone number for emergencies only. He could've told me that before we left. we finally got the door open after pushing the door with our shoulder really hard. They could've easily told us after I told him we are leaving for dinner reservations that we won't be open. Later a different rap said that it's due to the weather well then you better fix it for future guest because that's not our problem. 4. There is no elevator for the two story building. this could be a problem for elderly or disabled people. I don't remember that being on the website. 5. The pool Jacuzzi did not work. when I went to the front desk to ask them how we can get it fixed, this was at 4 o'clock and there was a note on the door "at lunch until 6 pm". There was no one at the front desk, the door was locked. I''m not sure how people who come to check in would check in but I thought this is very unprofessional and we could not use the Jacuzzi and later when I complained to the front desk, the response was, well, We have to take lunch. Apparently you can't afford to hire another employee to watch the desk when the other person takes lunch. 6. The toilet got clogged. They had a plunger next to the toilet, but I could not unclog it. I guess if it's after hours you can call the emergency line but I'm not quite sure, meanwhile, it took them an hour to get someone to come and unclog it. 7. Bring your own body soap. there's a dispenser in the shower, but it's so light, It doesn't even bring a lather. 8. There's a keurig coffee machine, but the coffee is horrible so bring your own Keurig pods My main complaint was the office staff. I felt they were very unprofessional and if you're not gonna have someone who's gonna be on the premises the whole time then it's kind of like you're on your own. You might as well just rent an Airbnb.

They reimbursed bestie $100 but still ended up Paying $250 for one night. Hmmmm so weird.

We stayed here on Sat., 1/14/23. We were supposed to stay till Mon., 1/16 but it was shortlived. Let me tell you why. Disclaimer This review is specifically for the lodge (ROOM 118), not the cabins. The lodge is two floors in the back by the lake. Read the other reviews and heed the warning about the first floor. It's all true if people are staying above your room. It will get loud and noisy. I give four Stars for the remodel. The room has been remodeled, and it looks great. New beds, flooring, walls, faux fireplace, fridge console, bathroom then bam! Although the bathroom was remodeled, I don't think all that water on the floor was part of it. The bathroom was flooded; it looked like the water was coming from the closet through the floors. We called the front desk, and unfortunately, they were fully booked and unable to relocate us. They provided us with a lot of towels and told us the manager and maintenance would be by the following morning. So we created a barrier with the towels to contain the water inside the bathroom. But it's water and a towel, so it doesn't do much. We put on our snow boots anytime we went in the bathroom, but then we trek water spots all over the room. We used the bathroom as little as possible, but It was inconvenient. The following morning you can see the water is starting to seep under the new floors in the room. We jumped in the tub to change since the entire bathroom floor was flooded. We did our thing that day. I guess maintenance came in and checked it out. Bestie got the call and was told they couldn't do anything. The best they could do was comp us. So we checked out. With it being a packed mountain-filled weekend, we were unable to find new accommodation and our trip was short-lived. They didn't charge us for the other day, and it took a long time for them to comp us. My friend kept having to email them. They finally comped her $100 but she still ended up paying $250. Huh! *** Updated*** After this review and the response. My bestie received her refund. I will add a start and a half for the follow through, thank you! We would like to give you guys another go, just maybe one of the cabins.

I booked a 2 bedroom villa for 4 nights. We stayed in cabin 11 right by the heated pool. The cabin was 2 bedrooms with queen beds in each, a mud room with a twin bed, full kitchen, dining room, 1 bathroom and a living room with a wood burning fireplace and pullout sofa bed. There was central heat which you had to control the thermostat and make sure the vents were open, some were closed. There was 1 tv in one of the bedrooms and the one in the living room with plenty of channels to kick from. Excellent Wi-Fi connection for our 5 devices we had. Our key got jammed on the second day and maintenance fixed it in minutes. The place was perfectly clean except for the carpet. It could use a good shampooing. It's dog friendly so I was expecting dog hair like at previous locations but was pleasantly surprised to find zero hairs lying around. No weird or musty smells either. Stocked kitchen and bathroom. Space heaters and ceiling fans in every room. My only complaint would be that my bedroom faced the parking lot of the adjacent property so the headlights kept flashing through the blinds. Overall friendly staff and nice property close to everything. Will stay here again.

Our second time to Big Bear. I was having a hard time finding a nice but not expensive dog friendly place to stay in the beginning of February. I ended up settling on this place and I am glad I did. There were no cabins so we took a room with 2 queen beds. The hotel was really nice. It is right on the water with a little deck with chairs and tables to eat your lunch or what ever. We stayed on the second level, the room was clean, nice size and super cute with a fireplace, microwave, mini fridge. The shower was hot with decent pressure. We like that the parking lot is tucked back and not right off the main road so we have no fear of our dog running out into the road. Lots of spots for parking and we were able to see our vehicle from our window. The people at the front desk were nice. IMHO the room was a bit pricey. But I would stay here again and I would recommend it to others. read more

My jacuzzi cabin on labor day weekend was $345/night. If I didn't see somewhere that the normal rates for these were around $100 on a non holiday night, I would've been very surprised at the condition of these cabins. the cabins were definitely older and in desparate need of a remodel. The the couch had rips, the jacuzzi was cracked and looked like it wasn't usable and the floor carpet or whatever it was, was covered full of stains (Since its a pet friendly motel, which is why we chose it, we had our little furbaby with us) I assume it was from previous pet poo and pee stains. My whole family immediately started to have allergic reaction to the cabin within minutes of entering. We were prepared and took allergy meds but that didn't help at all. My husband reacted so bad we couldn't wait to leave early enough the day of check out. They tried to present a clean cabin, kitchen and bedding was ok, but the overwhelming presence of previous pets (i assume from the carpet and the couch that looked older than the cabin) prevailed and ruined our stay. I highly suggest ripping those old nasty carpet out and replacing with linoleum or something easy to clean and disinfect especially since pets are allowed here. It's way over due! read more

This place was great! We enjoyed our stay and will definitely consider returning in the future. We were a little nervous because we took our 2 small dogs with us but the staff was very friendly and the pet fee was reasonable. Since we went during New Years we decided to decorate our room a bit to make it feel like home. My bf actually proposed to me in our lil cabin it was the most relaxing and beautiful trip we've taken. Our room was very clean and spacious, we appreciated the lil kitchen which had mostly everything you need for a comfortable stay. read more

I booked a cabin here online at the last minute for a night at a pet friendly location in the area that would allow me to bring my both my dog and cat. The Big Bear Frontier accepts all pets for only an additional $15 each. The staff was friendly and helpful and the check in process was quick and easy. I got a studio cabin with a queen bed, safe, kitchen (stove, large mini fridge, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, dishes, etc), fireplace and small porch that was close to the lake with a parking spot. The cabin was nice, clean, quiet and the bed was very comfortable. They also provide limited toiletries but I did not have hand or body soap so I'd suggest bringing some. They have a variety of room/cabin options including whirlpools, a swimming pool, nice lobby/lounging area and great location. Only 1/2 mile from the village with plenty of dining and shopping available. My pets and I enjoyed our stay and wish I had time to stay another night. I will continue to stay here when in town and highly recommend. read more

I came here last week for my boyfriend's birthday. When I booked this place I thought it would be a nice time of year to come but I sure was wrong. It was cold and windy!!! So anyways, after passing by this place two times I finally found it and pull in. The check in was pretty smooth except I was given this list of rules (literally) like I was some high school teenager that came here for some crazy party. They told me not to stain the towels and that if I left the room dirty there was a charge for that and if I check out late there is a charge for that too. And they put a $100 deposit on your credit card in case you destroy the room or something! O.K. O.K. no problem. So we head over to our lakeside room and settle in. The room was really nice for $80 bucks a night and it came with a jacuzzi tub...which was great! After unpacking we went out to explore the view of the lake and it was nice. The property is really clean and well maintained. While checking in we were told that they had movie rentals and since it ended up being so cold we decided that we would watch a movie...so we head up to the front office to rent a movie only to discover that the movies that they had for rent were all VHS tapes! Yeah right...come on this 2010 not 1980! We drove over to the Blockbuster Video and got a movie over there instead. This lodge is not far from the Village which has a bunch of shops and restaurants but if it's cold and windy (which it was) it's not that close either. Overall, it's a nice place as long as you don't mess anything up! And be sure to bring your own DVDs from home. read more

It's 5 stars great for a not 5 star hotel. Who wants to pay for that kind of thing when you can have a cozy cabin. We stay here every time if it's available. Rooms have fireplaces. Pool and jacuzzi always clean. Walking distance to town. Really one of the best. Staff always great. read more

I would give it a 4, which is really pretty good, but I had to go with a 3 because the carpets are filthy and have not been cleaned in some time. Obvious it's hard to keep them clean in the winter-but still-it was pretty disgusting. I wiped up a spot on the carpet and my paper towel was black. Other than that, really a cute place to stay. And, they're pet friendly, which is a huge plus. I would stay here again. The staff has also been wonderful. Everyone I've talked to has been so accommodating, polite and kind. That really goes a long way. read more

DO NOT STAY on the first floor! We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the door of the 2 queen bed room we were given to stay on the building next to the lake with awesome views, the room fully renovated and looks really nice, we walked to the village which is really closed by and had a great time Until around 12am when we were all sleeping, the people staying on the second floor arrived and they're walk steps were so loud, they throw things on the floor and we can hear so loud that felt like the ceiling was going to break, then they decide to fill up the bath tub and we can hear the noise of the water louder than if we use the bath tub! They walked around the room and made all kind of noise posible for about 2 hours until 2am! And the. Started again at 7am. This was the WORST time we've had staying at a hotel/lodge,etc. Very sad that the property was renovated but they didn't think of sound proof for the ceiling/2nd floor flooring. read more

I have been coming here for many years now and have always enjoyed our stay. Great location, people usually friendly and I can bring my dogs. That all being said ............... upgrading is severely needed here! The TVs are very old, the finish is totally gone on jacuzzi tub and carpet appears to be filthy, also old. There are many broken tiles and things that obviously have been ignored. It gave me an overall feeling of being in unsanitary and dirty surroundings. Bummed out, hope it gets better. read more

2 stars just because the front desk lady was pleasant. But the accommodations are awful. Requesting a refund since we cut our stay short. First of all the place is dirty. I brought my own cleaning supplies due to Covid and all my paper towels were black. Obviously not much cleaning going on in their end. Toilet did not flush. Sheets were old and baling. Smoke from neighbors coming in through windows 24/7. Dogs crying. Not a peaceful getaway. Loud road noice. Please return my calls to discuss a refund. I appreciate the reply on Yelp but I am asking for a call back. A response in Yelp is merely PR. Update- I have called and left my phone number. I have messaged them through Booking. We loved our studio cabin this weekend! The cabin was very clean and the area is quiet. The staff is very friendly and helped with all of our needs. There were a few cabins under construction, but the construction crew left on Friday so the weekend was perfect. We cannot wait to stay in the newer renovated cabins on the lake next year. Also, the cabins are in walking distance to the downtown area and stores. We absolutely recommend these cabins if you want something different from the hotels. read more

Positives: -Great location, right on the lake. Very beautiful set up. -Great for families. Ping pong, basketball hoop, pool table, pool, trees growing through some of the cabins. -Pet friendly -Snacks in the lobby area, fishing off the dock -Fireplace in the room, rustic. -No bed bugs -Good value for the buck **if the skiing were better in SOCAL I would like to come up here for a long weekend in the winter.. I'm sho it's a very pretty winter wonderland.** Negatives: The bathroom floor was dirty and looked like it hadn't been mopped in a couple months. I'd still go back. read more

Long time I don't leave a bad review but after contact this front desk to make a reservation twice and got the awful attitude from the guy who answered is impossible to let it go. We ask him to check on his computer to see what cabins they have available, with a rude attitude he said: I don't know what are you seeing in your computer so you better check online. I said that the website is not showing me pictures of the actual room so I would like to book with him instead, I just need to know the size of the room and amenities, he said OH MY GOD!! and acted like he could not hear us and hung up. Tried again and he could "not hear us" from the moment I asked what type of rooms they have available Not even for free I would want to stay at this place.The sourness push us away. Replying to David: Good to know that. Bad apples like that one don't care for the hard work the owner probably put in to it and they should be out. Once they feel free to treat customers like that they don't stop. Even less if nothing is done. Lots of people are looking for jobs and would be grateful to have it. The location is unbeatable. You are on the water with this lakefront property. You can walk everywhere as it is close to the village. There is nothing like soaking at night with a fire going and then getting to sleep with the fireplace still glowing. I would highly recommend trying this place out. It is definitely not fancy, but is truly homey. read more

When you fist walk into room it looks great but, the wifi sucked, the shower had no pressure, the water barely came out of the shower head. The phone in the room did not work. When I called the front desk with my own phone. They sent over a there handy man to look at the shower pressure and the phone. Nothing got fixed. Pretty much just said .. that's the way it was. At 2 am I had someone trying to get into my room. That was not a good thing to wake up to. The AC in the room did not work. They should have given us a new room. read more

Wow, we paid $275 per night to stay at one of the dumpiest places I think we ever stayed. We understand mountain towns as we are from Colorado but this place is a real dump! We stayed in a little one bedroom cabin and take a look at the attached pictures. We had to wipe down the outside furniture before we could even sit down, check out the white rag. Take a look at the kitchen sink, I wouldn't wash my pet turtle in that thing. Very old, extremely dated, was 85 degrees in our room with a small broken down fan, bathroom screen ripped out, all drink ware was cheap plastic, everything was just crappy. Avoid this place at any cost, i wouldn't ever stay here again!!! read more

We rented cabin #11 with 2 (and a half) bedrooms and 1 bath, a kitchen and small dining area. This cabin is right next to the pool and ping pong table - so it would be an excellent location if you have kids. Pros: - cute grounds with a small basketball court, pool & hot tub and ping pong table - they have tons of BBQs - bring your own charcoal - the kitchen was sort of stocked (2-3 pots, basic utensils, plates, bowls, coffee cups, glasses) - they allow dogs (pets) - $15 per night, per pet (we had three with us and it was no problem) - walk to "The Village" - about a 10 minute (1/2 mile) walk - easy parking next to the cabin - short walk down to the lake (they have a dock, but it was in a marsh area) - beautiful view of the lake from the deck area Cons: - it's a cabin and it had a musty smell (which was expected) - nothing fancy here, just the basics - 1 room was super small (only one bedroom had a tv) I suggest bringing: - foil - coffee and coffee filters (if you want more than a cup or two for the day) - charcoal - BBQ type utensils (metal spatula, etc.) read more

My friend and I rented a cabin for a little mini summer vacation. They staff is very friendly, the cabins are super cute and clean. It's close to the lake and the village. The cabins have a kitchen which saves money from dinning out there's also a BBQ Pit. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the bed was too firm and I couldn't sleep on it I had to sleep on the sleeper sofa but the pad their was thin and I could feel the metal bars. My friend said her bed was uncomfortable as well. Over all I would definitely come back to rent again but I'll likely bring a couple egg creates for the mattress. Because outside of the mattress everything else was great. read more

A nice place to stay if you're in Big Bear because the location of some cabins/rooms overlooking the lake and it is conveniently located about 5 to 8 minutes away from Snow Summit....The facility is nice and clean except our room had some dirty ass carpet that needs to be changed and maybe could use a new upgrades but all in all, the location and the price was right and the attitude of most people at the front desk was good....and was willing to help to make our stay pleasant so thank you Amy at the front desk :))))).....like I said besides the dirty ass carpet I do recommend this place located on the lake and near the epicenter of big bear... so keep improving and do it with a smile...:)) read more

Cabin #2 Comfy 1 bedroom cabin with bonus room in front. Good location. Bed was comfortable, Hot tub was nice, heat worked good, internet was not good and the two ladies at front desk reception were not very friendly. Beware. This place is NOT clean. Its August 2020 and the hotel website states they are cleaning up to covid standards,, but its not true!! Dust and cobwebs in room, the whirlpool tub was dirty and disgusting, we found a syringe and a mask behind the mini fridge. I would not recommend this place. I don't think the cleaning staff is following the cleaning mandates and the management must not care about.. Beware before you book a stay at this place. read more

Cabin 21. Love the location. Away from foot traffic and road traffic. Great view of the lake! I absolutely love this cabin (so far). Has more amenities then expected. Is this place is definitely not for someone who likes the normal comforts of daily life. This includes central air conditioning and a clean bed with a no bugs. I was recently up there and it was 95 degrees in Big Bear unknowingly to me this hotel has no central air, the room was hot and stuffy. Then the shower water made a loud noise for the first 5 min of the shower. Lastly as I laid in bed drenched in my own sweat a beetle was crawling on my leg. So I decided to not over react then me and my husband saw a spider on the pillow. It was not a romantic getaway at all. I will add that the walking distance to the down town area is wonderful and we enjoyed going into the downtown for dining. We checked out 1 day early!!! It was impossible to stay . read more

Cabins look really nice from the outside,The Outside was very well kept & clean. The cabin we had,had an extremely small kitchen but we were able to manage. I'm sure other Cabins had bigger ones. We had a decent size living room which was good having two kids we needed the space for them. I do wish the carpet was cleaner,it was heavily stained & dirty & there were spider cobs in our room. Pros: -Affordable -Close to the lake,Food & downtown -Jacuzzi in Cabin -Pool was open -Room had a safe -Fire place (you have to buy your own logs) Cons: -No dressers to put our clothes in we had to keep everything in suit cases -Spider webs in our room -Stained Floors -Silverware was extremely cheap (they bent) -WiFi connection wasn't strong enough,I went the whole time with hardly any internet connection even with the cabins connection read more

I can't wait to come back and stay here! At first we were praying we picked a good place to stay. Once we arrived we were absolutely sure we did. AAALLLLL the staff were extremely nice! We had cabin 25 which was cozy and near the lake. Our cabin was part of the back section on the land which felt like it's own little neighborhood... kinda. You get your own personal parking, fire place, it does have a Ac/heater. Fully stocked kitchen (fridge, stove, sink, dishes and utensils). The bed wasn't that bad. I slept pretty good. Yes they have WIFI All the shops were walking distance. The cabin was fully stocked and clean! it's big bear, it's a cabin. You go there to disconnect with the real world it's okay if some things are a little dated (tv, telephone etc) We had read some nasty reviews online and I'm so happy we took a chance on this place. can't wait to be back read more

We loved it here. Yes the rooms are dated, bedding isn't the best, but it was equipped with a working fireplace, great wall heater, little kitchenette, patio in the front, and pretty clean. We stayed in 13 which had a big tree going through the front room which was cool and we were right next to the pool. Front desk people were very nice, we loved how they had a room full of old vhs movies and dvds to rent free of charge. The biggest plus is the fact that it is totally dog friendly! We always travel with our two dogs. The pool is perfectly heated and the hot tub was great after a long day on the mountain. No complaints, will be back again! read more

My favorite getaway spot! I have been here twice so far. I love the rooms, it is equipped with a mini kitchen, perfect size room in my opinion and BIG PLUS, a big size tub in the room :) cherry on top, if you have fur babies, you are allowed to bring them to enjoy the beautiful outdoors with you! Second time I went, I asked for a room closed to the lake. Had a porch and beautiful lawn for my pup to run around. Lounge chairs available on the lawn with bbq pit to fire up some food on the grill :) this room was bigger with a spa, and separate room for the kitchen. Had a cute little nook dining area. Cups, microwave, stove top, plates, pans, utensils provided :) Customer service in the front was awesome! had even a cute lil selection of movies you can take to watch in your room for free. I absolutely love this place and for what you get, it's so incredibly worth it read more

My boyfriend booked a one night stay in a studio cabin with whirlpool. The room had: -Stove/oven -Microwave -Cooking utensils and dinnerware -Coffee maker -Toaster -Dining table and two dining chairs -Mini fridge with freezer -Flat screen tv with VCR/DVD player -Queen size bed -Fireplace and heating system. -Jacuzzi -Full bath, -Ironing board -Small safe with keypad. -Free WiFi The bed sheets, towels and overall room looked clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable. And we enjoyed the jacuzzi! I recommend you bring your own shampoo, conditioner and body soap. Our bath soap crumbled into 3 pieces and the bottle of shampoo dried my scalp. The cabin we stayed at had a driveway next to the cabin for one car. Our cabin was a nice distance from the next cabin so the noise level was close to none. In the morning a snow plower truck cleared the snow off the roads on the property and there was a person that went around shoveling the snow off the porch, steps and behind the cars. I found that to be very helpful! Oh, and Stater Bros supermarket is about 5 min drive! There's also a Von's right across from Stater Bros. Take your pick but if you read my Stater Bros review, you might make the wiser decision! =P Overall, we had a very pleasant stay, the price is reasonable and we would return. read more

During the week they have great prices! We had to air out our room of perfumes/cleaner smell but once it was cleared my allergies were better. Loved the jacuzzi in suite. Hope to be back but will be prepared for the hours to clear the air out first. read more

(Big deal in the cold) current cabin elsewhere (because they didn't have a room for us the second night) no hot water for the jacuzzi tub! Been here twice now when I visit Big Bear. There are individual cabins you can rent as well as hotel rooms (connected to eachother). All the rooms/cabins have a nice cabin/mountainy feel to it. Staff is very friendly and lobby has games and free coffee/tea. PET FRIENDLY ($15 charge) Basically on the lake which is awesome. Close enough to downtown to walk :) **some rooms have jacuzzi/hotutub inside the room, bow chika wow wow. Definitely recommend! read more

Okay. I don't do this often... but: Woman at the front desk was very friendly and informative. However. Our room ($200/night, king bed with jet tub) looks and smells about 10-15 years older than the photos on the booking site judging by the dust encapsulating the wooden decor. This was supposed to be a romantic getaway for my fiancée and I and this is borderline disgusting. The tub was filthy. The shower is cracked beyond repair and there was half a turd in the toilet when we arrived. The group (8 teenagers by my count) staying in the room above us will not stop dancing around, screaming "I'M WASTED!'!!!" and there's no employee to be found post 9pm. Never again. I've paid $40 for a night at Travelodge and been more satisfied. This place is a waste of money, and I HATE writing Yelp reviews. To the owners/management: I am sorry for the public shaming. Had you been available, I would've made these complaints directly. But we have to leave. I understand that Big Bear is a tourist trap, a desirable location, etc. but you ripped us off. Oh, and the TV doesn't work. At all. read more

Not sure how anyone can complain about something like this. The shower head has a rainfall head, the stones in the shower, to the shape of the mirror, it was all intentional. I saw nothing "icky" in selecting the specific stone-like accoutrements to complement the theme. There's a tv in the bedroom but why would you even wanna watch tv in a castle garden? COME ON! Loved the vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, flickering lights, ambiance - we put on Celtic music and enjoyed the peace away from the city. This isnt even our first day here I just couldn't wait to update my review. This was 7:30 pm. Walked down the hall to the pool and was stopped by 2 cats just roaming. I am good with kitties, but seemed strange at first, then again seemed on par for our experience so far.... Onto the pool. Sign on the door..... pool closes at 6pm. HUH???? At that point we just went back to the room. Tucked in for the night. NEXT MORNING! Went to use the restroom and noticed either blood or poop SMEARED ON THE WALL directly across from the toilet under the towels. YUCK!!! Spouse tried to use the coffe maker in the room and it wouldn't work. Now, I have just about had it. As we were getting dressed to go address everything with the manager, we were both half naked and A STAFF MEMBER WALKS RIGHT INTO OUR ROOM!!!!! ABSOLUTELY DONE! Screamed at him to get out. Now our saftey is in question. We packed our bags and got a refund! This was by far the MOST HORRIFIC experience I have ever had. If I could give no stars I would. False advertising, poor staff etiquette and not to mention a HUGE safty factor if anyone can walk into your room even when it's locked.

After a long day of traveling with kids, it was definitely disappointing. That said, the staff members who were working truly made a difference. Joshua, who checked us in, was very apologetic. He was the only person working the front desk at the time. He stayed professional the entire time. A huge shoutout also goes to Edwin, who was working unbelievably hard. We saw him helping with rooms, assisting at breakfast, and keeping things running smoothly. His work ethic really stood out and he deserves recognition. Once we settled in, the hotel had lots of positives: The complimentary s'mores kits were a big hit with the kids. Each kit included four marshmallows, one Hershey's bar, and four graham crackers, wrapped in a festive Thanksgiving bag. The outdoor fireplace courtyard is huge and made the experience even better. This was especially great because the little town of Big Bear tends to close early, so having this activity at the hotel was perfect. The pool area was clean and well maintained, which is also perfect option for family with kids (just a way to entertain them while having fun). The complimentary breakfast was also surprisingly good. The waffles were awesome, and there were plenty of options like cereal, oatmeal, eggs, and potatoes. I would love to see a few more condiments added (like mayonnaise or mustard), but overall it was a great breakfast spread. The room layout was spacious, very comfortable, and perfect for a family. Despite the rocky start at check-in, the hotel has a lot of charm, great amenities, and truly hardworking staff members who care.

This particular room was well appointed with 2.5 bathrooms, a large living room and 3 balconies. The hotel, the furniture and everything around is old - as in 20+ years old by the looks of it. The living room TV was newer but very small for the size of the room. I'm giving this place 4 stars because the staff is great and even though the property is outdated it is reasonably priced for Southern California particularly being the only true hotel in Big Bear.

The hotel has many different perks each day including: smores kit, evening snacks/movie nights. They also had a nacho bar night, lemonade, churro night- which was unexpected but a nice surprise. There is also an indoor pool and jacuzzi, perfect after a long ski day! There is an abundance of seating indoor and outdoor and it seemed like Many guests enjoyed hanging out in the lobby/seating area each evening. We stayed on the Home2 side, which was perfect for a longer stay. Lastly, there is a fancy keurig coffee machine that makes lattes, caps and even hot chocolate; it is available all day/night. The minimal cost for the breakfast is also well worth it :) overall, great experience.

It was huge and the water was always super hot and the shower was hot right when I got out of the tub. A little soap goes a very long way with bubbles, proceed with caution. The room and the spa were very clean, there was a sticker on the door with the name of the person and the date that our room was sanitized which was reassuring to me. Once inside it smelled clean and everything looked clean. I did take a bottle of Odoban and did a once over but it was during COVID paranoia. Whenever I stay anywhere I strip the bed and put on my own sheets and blanket but when tearing the bed apart our white linens were very white and clean. I read reviews about a rouge hair or two and myself having very long dark hair I find it silly that it would be a huge deal, even in the most immaculate environment one is bound to pop up, trust me, I know but I understand with COVID everyone needs to be on top of their game with cleanliness. I found the location to be really convenient, it was close to everything we wanted to do. We had several exchanges with the owner, we checked in after midnight and she was friendly and professional. Since we were both working remotely due to COVID we decided we wouod like to stay another night if they could accommodate us and she was very courteous and made the process easy and that extra night actually turned into 3 extra nights! I suppose one could find the rooms dated, I personally felt like they were cute and cozy and felt cabin like,I didn't mind the decor at all. We stayed in cabin 16, I was able to scope out 17 and has been updated recently and is more modern. They both cost the same so I would probably go with 17 it's really the best bang for your buck. Finding our cabin at night was fairly difficult if you are able to check in during the day I would definitely say do that. We eventually found our cabin, they all look the same and aren't marked terribly well. The parking is a bit tight I came straight from buying a new fairly expensive car so I had to park a few different times until I was satisfied I would avoid a door ding but that was probably new car paranoia and if you don't arrive after midnight like a dummy you'll probably have a better chance at choice parking. Once in the cabin I saw there was one of those QR codes on the wall for you to scan and when you do they offer a coupon code that can't be applied retroactively of course so I was kinda bummed by that because it only required a 3 day stay to receive the discount and we stayed over twice that long so perhaps it could have been offered. I found it online as well so before you book look online for coupon codes because they're available. I found booking straight from their website was less expensive than Expedia and the other travel sites. For the price I think this place is unbeatable. Just when you thought I was going to shut up I pop back up... I forgot to mention that one night a family checked into one of the family cabins and they were out until after 10 pm and they were loud eventually I called Cathy at the number she provides for you to call if you need anything and within 5 minutes she had sent someone to take care of the issue. I'm not sure if any of the cabins are pet friendly but I know that the one we stayed in was not and that was really the biggest issue we had. I have a 4 pound Yorkie with separation anxiety and he's grown quite accustomed to going everywhere with me so we had to hire a pet sitter and I really missed my Lil guy! I wish they allowed pets of a certain size with a deposit. Other than that I can't wait until it's time to go back. We went in the last week of April for my birthday and the weather was perfect. Not too cold but you still definitely get that mountain experience and since it's the off season everything is very affordable. Remember to look for that coupon code online and to book through their direct website and the price is unreal.

And was not stable to move plus that was the only place to hang clothing. No drawers The mini sofa at the end of the bed was torn and poked your behind if you sat on it. Everything is done by text message, yet conflicts aren't resolved. It was our ;9 wedding anniversary. We were deeply dissapointed after reading other's posit reviews. We won't be back

You can drive, walk, or even ride your bike to other restaurants and activities near by if you aren't too busy playing corn hole or lounging in the hammocks

Ok since my nickname is also one of the Stone Brewing Company's best beers (AB) I'm first going to start by telling Goldielocks (the whiners and complainers who post negative reviews about this place) that first of all YOUR IN THE MOUNTAINS! If you want to be pampered like some wannabe celebrity then stay down in the smog and go to the Ritz Carlton! I have been coming up here to this place since I was a kid when it was two seperate lodges. Now I bring my kids here. This place is fantastic! Great for kids of all ages. The cabins are very nice and the staff is great and the main character (Big Bear Lake) is the reason we come here. So if your some wannabe celebrity from LA, The OBC who thinks they are wine connoisseurs and must be treated as such, then go somewhere else where people will kiss your !&$ and make you feel like your important when your not then don't come here. For us in the real world, bring your kids here it's great! You will leave here with the same kind of feeling I have for this place and now my kids have. They look forward to our annual family summer vacation in Big Bear at the Frontier Lodge. The staff is very helpful, respectful, and very nice. The cabins are clean and relaxing. When you are in your cabin you have a sense of peace and relaxation while your surrounded by the amazing wood interiors and if you are near the lake the wonderful views. You cannot beat the location which is walking distance to downtown Big Bear Village, the Big Bear Marina, and the lake itself. I booked this cabin for me and family with 2 kids, very excited to get there, as I checked this place, close to the lake and have access to the lake to swim, we arrived and checked in, went to the place, first it was a room not cabin, then the lake was way far and very low because of the drought, can not swim in it all dirt, grass and mud, went to the office told the young lady to refund my money after I explain why I booked here and what I found out is totally different, she said sorry no refund, I said we come here to swim and enjoy the lake, she said yah you can swim if you want, I said where, she said go to the left pass the muddy area, so we went can find any place to swim, so we drove around the lake could not see a single person swimming, so we stop by few guys fishing and ask them any good spot for swimming, and one of them said, no not any more, for almost 8 years the water going down and all grass. so I was very disappointed my kids as well with this lodge for falls advertising, the photos they have are more than 10 years old and does not reflect todays condition at all, so i'm asking the management again to refund my money so I can take my family to a real vacation. read more

The cabins do not have AC & the bedroom temperature was 87 at night and stuffy (even with windows open there us no air flow). Impossible to sleep. I had a separate room at the two-story building near the water and it was very noisy especially on the first floor. Guests above were very loud as well as outside. Kids running wild (and on e-moto bikes) until midnight. No security on property and phones do not work. Wi-Fi does not work. Tried a dozen times over three days and it just kicked me off immediately after signing in. The lobby attendants we're unhelpful. They stated "I'm a part-time employee and could not help". "Owner was out of town". I don't believe they have property staff that manages guests versus visitors on property. It was crowded and many had to be friends of friends. The location is great and the wooded trees on the property and cabins are cute. However, I would NOT recommend this hotel, for the reasons stated above . read more

We rented a 1 bedroom cabin with the hot tub. The cabin was adorable! The staff was great, especially Louie. I am only sorry that we couldn't stay longer and the leaves hadn't changed colors yet. They provide movies and games in the lobby, and there is a pool, cornhole in different areas of the property, etc. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I was actually expecting a "hot tub" and not a jetted bathtub. I enjoyed the jetted tub, but was hoping that I could sit in the hot tub together. Will definitely go again. There is a quick mart across the street and the Village is within walking distance. We got some great shots of the sunset from the North Shore, but the lake backs to the property as well. read more

My family and I come up every winter and always stay at Big Bear Frontier. We always stay in differant cabins and have not yet found one that we didn't just love. On this last trip up we stayed in Cabin 12. It is close to the pool/jaccuzi. This place is always so clean and the cost to stay here is soooo reasonable. We love the fact that the cabins/rooms have fireplaces. The staff (Laura) was so pleasant and helpful. The cabins are so close to the Village for shopping/eating and also walking distance to the lake. The rules are also so reasonable. Our next visit, we plan on getting a cabin that has a jacuzzi. :) Just love, love this place. Adina L. read more

The Big Bear Frontier is a great place to stay while in Big Bear Lake. My entire family was able too stay together in their 5 bedroom cabin which also had 2 full baths, a full kitchen and outdoor grass area with picnic tables and a BBQ. It is also a quick walk to the lake. The staff was very helpful and the general manager Ryan was very available. Thank you Big Bear Frontier for a wonderful family vacation! read more

Fair quality and service in terms of what you pay. They don't have breakfast. Receptionist was rude. She was made because i didn't answer the phone when she called me. I was on the first floor. Some body was very loud on the second floor. I requested the room be changed. They did but you have to bear the receptionist. read more
