Right off the bat-- as we walked in I asked my wife if we should ask to sit at the window counter (where we like to sit wherever we go) and the hostess heard me and took us there without asking us-- like she had ESP! And then the waitress was super friendly (like everyone we met in Florence). My wife had the ham po'boy which was grilled like a Cuban sandwich (yay!) and I had the fried shrimp po'boy. Both were excellent. For sides my wife chose a half grapefruit brûléed and I had marinated tomatoes. I remember having sugar on a half grapefruit as a kid, but bruleed? Epic! I loved the big wall in the front dining area-- half of a Cessna airplane on the wall, superimposed on a blueprint painting (see photo). Very creative. We'll be back! read more

we were visiting town for graduation and swung by here for breakfast. we had the privilege of being with mckenzie. she was respectful, fun, and prompt. she made our time there that much better. we ordered a good amount of food but i got the chicken biscuit sandwich with hash brown patties. the chicken was tender, juicy, and crispy! biscuit was so warm and buttery. they had an option to "make it dirty" which adds hot sauce, bacon, and cheese. the hash browns were crispy and they also had some onion flavor to them as well. at first i wasn't a fan but i enjoyed it after a few more bites. we had such a great time and we would definitely come back! read more

My husband & I went here for brunch on our way out of town. In looking, it was about the only place in the area that serves breakfast and is open on Sundays, so we knew it would probably be crowded. Our wait was 30 minutes. When we were seated, we already knew what we wanted because we looked at the online menu while we waited for a table. When our waitress came to get our drink orders, we went ahead & gave our food order too. I ordered a vanilla cappuccino. Our waitress was super sweet. Can't remember her name, but we found out she was from TN. She came back to the table about 5 minutes later and said they had just run out of espresso. As I said to her, "How in the world does a breakfast place run out of espresso at breakfast?" So I got regular coffee. It was rainy & chilly outside and they had the AC on in there and our table was under a vent, so it was freezing the entire meal. Our food took a long while to come out. When we finally got it, it was good. I got the biscuit crumble and my husband got an omelette. We split the Fall apple pancakes. They were ok. The apples on top weren't baked enough. They should have been more like a compote, but they were pretty hard. Between that & how cold it was in there and the food wait time and running out of espresso, I'll give 3 stars. In my book, a breakfast place running out of espresso should be zero stars, but the food was good enough and the waitress was great. read more

It could have been better. I ordered a bloody mary, the best thing about that was the pickled okra on top. You can tell they put some sort on salsa in their bloody mary which definitely adds an unpleasant texture that is impossible to get through the straw. Situated in beautiful downtown Florence, visiting BBB is always a treat. We always enjoy the yard work skillet and the fried oyster scramble, hangtown style. Good morning y'all!! I have moved to Alabama and couldn't be more pleased with the local restaurants here! First of all, Angela and Shannon (bartenders) are super friendly and very knowledgeable. The food here is excellent! When I first visited back in October, the fine folks over at The Remote Shoals treated us to breaky here and I had the chicken and waffle (which was good) but couldn't help but eyeball MacKenzie's choice (cathead biscuit) across the table!! I believe my daughter ordered the same thing! I vowed when I moved I would come back and have been back 3 times since and can't bring myself to order anything else!! SO good! I would also like to point out that all their juice is fresh squeezed and their cold brew coffee is pretty stellar as well! So sorry about the pics, I can't ever get one of the before because it's too tasty and I can't wait to dig in! Side note: in Alabama they don't serve alcohol or sell it before noon on Sundays so don't go thinking about that refreshing mimosa or Bloody Mary because you aren't gonna get it on Sunday before noon! But I did go on a different morning and had a greyhound and there's no better way to have it than with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice! Total game changer! The decor is also super cool with the entire half of what I believe is a piper cub taildragger airplane (forgive me son if I didn't identify this correctly) mounted on the wall! Very long wait time on weekends unless you want to sit at the bar, which we usually do, unless we have a big group. But they have free coffee out on the weekends, while you wait. Nice decor. Large interior, with hanging airplanes. Food is good. My grandsons are very fond of the little bad breakfast. One thing I do not like. They have very large tables in the front. And they seat two parties at the same table. This is weird and awkward. Makes me super uncomfortable. Kind of like restaurants in NYC. I always ask to wait a little longer, for another table, when I get seated there. Lots of college kids from UNA, close by. The service is always perfect, on point. read more

Everyone enjoyed their food. I thought my skillet lacked flavor and was smaller than I thought. I did really enjoy my pancake. I'd say this restaurant is well priced and worth a try. Absolutely loved this Breakfast spot. The food was soooooooo delicious and fairly priced which made it that much better! My brother brought me here while I was visiting family. It was a Saturday and the place was popping! Lots of energy filled the large room. Loved the high ceilings. Perfect for larger groups as well. And I loved even more the fact that I could watch sports while enjoying my meal. Not too many breakfast spots have TVs. I ended up going back several other times after that before I left town. The food was consistently good every single time. Best grits everrrrr!!! Only thing I would say that I wish they did differently is this.... If a customer wants to buy some BBB Mugs to take home, don't sell them used Mugs that you have in circulation on the floor. The Mugs I bought have words scratched off and that was pretty disappointing. I think it would be a better look for the business to have a designated batch of brand new Mugs to sell to guests who are interested in purchasing them. Just a thought. The experience itself was not bad - we had a relatively large party during busy hours and the food was given to us relatively fast. However, I was very disappointed with the food. Over the past few years, the food portions have been decreasing more and more, almost to a point where things are ridiculous. When I ordered, I got flapjacks, which were 11$. However, the size of the pancakes was very disappointing. They were about 3 inches in diameter and lacked butter and syrup. I had maybe half an ounce of butter and a lackluster amount of syrup. This lead to me having to eat my last 1 and a half pancakes "raw". If I wanted more syrup and butter, it would cost more. I genuinely felt like every single part of the experience was to nickel and dime us, and we ended paying much more with the tip on top of added gratuity. If you're looking for a mid meal fast, this is the place to be. Just be ready to pay a ton of money. read more

We were visiting friends, Florence and the University of North Alabama and decided to meet for brunch. We love the Homewood location of Big Bad Breakfast, so we decided to try the Florence location. Luckily my son was able to add us to the waitlist because we had 5 people. When we arrived we were seated immediately which was great because this is not always the case with some restaurants. Plus it was Mother's Day weekend. My only complaint was that it took awhile to get the food. I ordered the French toast with spicy bacon. It was so good!! I highly recommend the spicy bacon. The sweet and spicy combination really added to the meal. Regarding parking, there was only street parking, so we did I have to park around the corner because most places were taken. read more

After visiting the location in Nashville and Oxford was excited to see it on my trip. The chicken biscuit is $9 here as well but does not include a side as Oxford includes. The chicken was good but not as great though as Oxford as well. The biscuits were severely undercooked, nobody at the table ate them. Asked for a new batch, they came out just as bad as the first. Again no one ate them, or the gravy they came with.. when the manager came back we told her about the biscuits and that we didn't eat them.. yet we were still charged for all of them, and only given $10 off which didn't even cover the 3 orders of biscuits and gravy that we didn't eat because it was inedible.. this was the first time there because friends recommended it because of how good it was.... Pros: Our waitress was so sweet! She had a great personality and she was very helpful towards us. The chicken and waffles were delicious and that hot sauce (green) was so delicious we purchased a bottle! My vodka cranberry had a nice kick to it too. We stayed in the Strickland Hotel so the location was perfect.
