Where to start?... I've had Excellent service for at Big Al's for years! I've been taking my vehicles to Big Als for about a decade now. I can't say enough good things about this business. They have always fixed me up. Skilled mechanics, knowledgeable front office that's friendly and always have communicated with me all the way through the repairs. I've had work done on my diesel trucks, an Acura, and my Toyota. I've even had them work on my 78 Camaro that was a nightmare to diagnose. They chased down the problem and fixed it properly. 3 other shops failed to find the problem but they found it. Not only are they a family business but they've always listened and communicated so well. They have warranted several parts over the years no questions asked. From towing , technical repairs to gremlins on my classic car. These guys and gals deliver every time. They are a successful shop and they'll have cars stacked up out front and they motor thru the work. My vehicles have always gotten handled in an appropriate amount of time. They gave us a quote and then charged us hundreds over their quote, and they didn't adjust the installed part and then charged us $150 more to adjust it later when the car wasn't working right. The main problem was we were paid by the company that did the damage for the repair and had to sign a waiver for that amount, and so we had to pay Big Al's for the Adjustment out of pocket. We feel they took advantage of us and were not shy about it. read more

Our RV shut down on the side of the road along our travels and Big Als was able to help us throughout the entire process. (Many shops don't work on RVs but they do) We had thought we got the problem fixed a few months back at another shop in UT to come to find out it was the other fuel pump that was actually giving out. The entire team of the shop were great. Andy let us stay outside the shop to avoid additional costs of a hotel, which really helped. He made sure we were good to go and I really appreciated the communication throughout. We were able to continue on our travels and the RV has been doing well since. I also really appreciated the thorough notes sent to us after explaining their finding and what they did to fix it. It included pictures and even recommendation for things to fix down the line like wipers and lights that were going out. My car broke down just after getting off the freeway. Lights came on and it had NO power. I called AAA to send a tow truck. Since I am totally unfamiliar with auto repair shops in Cheyenne WY, I asked for a recommendation from the tow truck driver. He strongly suggested Big Al's Auto & Exhaust. To say that I was very impressed with Big Al's is an understatement. They were very busy but they were able to get my vehicle diagnosed and repaired in less than a week. I was treated with respect and dignity even though I was stressed to the max!! Everyone from the tow driver to the receptionist AND Andy were so very professional. Feel totally taken advantage of by Big Al's Auto and Exhaust and their dishonest crew. They did not clean my oxygen sensor and charged me $2100 for new catalytic converters on my truck. Doesn't that just go with the territory when it comes to exhaust systems and especially after charging me so much? It was also causing my engine light to come on even after the new cats were installed. Unprofessional and dishonest. I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

Do not trust them with your diesel vehicle! They don't know what they're doing! They will screw you over! They sent a guy out who was supposedly and expert. He made a horrible mistake turning our key over and it cost us over $10k. We're seeking legal assistance to deal because they won't take any responsibility. The absolute worst! I also found out my grandmother had a similar experience with them pulling incorrectly and damaging her axle. Do not use these guys. They may destroy your vehicle. read more

I was stranded on the Highway with my Uhaul trailer and my AAA requested that Big Al's pick me up. A young man, Steve picked me up within 15 min who was courteous and did his work thoroughly and quickly. The owners, Andy and Jeanie were very understanding and helpful in MANY ways beyond simply diagnosing my car issues, including rental car and uhaul truck options. Both of them were extremely helpful and seem VERY honest and trustworthy. Andy explained that he belonged to a network which would guarantee the repairs outside of the local area. Andy showed me the proof of a blown head gasket and even recommended that I NOT repair the car given the cost of the repair.....again, very honest. My only regret is that this place isn't located in my home town!!! read more

I have dealt with Big Al's before in getting a battery for my car. This time it was my transmission. I had my vehicle towed to Big Al's, and then realized that there may be a recall on the transmission. I was going to have it towed to the dealer, but Andy V. took the time to explain to me that, getting another transmission from the dealer could result in yet another problem, and isn't the way to go. He told me that they use Jasper transmissions, and had the same warranty as the dealer (3 yr /100,000), and better quality. The two were not far off in difference of price, but Andy tried to help out in cost where he could. As it turned out, he was able to get the transmission in and Matt was able to complete the job quicker than promised. Very knowledgeable, and very professional IMHO. I really do appreciate all the hard work and the compassion, as I really did not have the money for this job, but it had to be done, and it was a job well done. I was on my way down I-80 across from the West coast to the East coast again last month, and got an "idiot light" on the upgrade east of Laramie. Of course it was late afternoon on a Thursday, so I needed help right away so I wouldn't be stuck for the weekend - had a moving crew lined up for Sunday morning in Vermont. Called AAA and they sent a (very nice) tow truck and gave me the name and number of Big Al's. I called and then spoke with them, told them I needed to know on Friday morning if I could resume my trip or needed to leave the vehicle and fly out. They took care of me and had me on the road again the next morning, with a clean bill of health and a cautionary note to get my automatic transmission fluid changed but be careful, as my Saturn Vue needs a specific kind. I made it back in time to move into my new apartment in Vermont on Sunday morning, and haven't seen the warning light since, so as a woman traveling alone (translation: frequently told I need expensive repairs), I am a happy camper! read more
