This was a hot spot in town and busy on the night we were there. Located right in city center where the beautiful traditional buildings and shopping is abundant. I ordered a radler and it came out with only Weissbeer. I didn't return it however, because the beer was still good. Just not what I expected. The service was ok but slow. It took us almost 1.5 hours to order our drinks and eat. We waited almost a full hour for our food. I did enjoy that the chef hand delivered the more expensive plates himself. I am giving three stars because the food was excellent, but it took a long time to get it. Overall, if you have a lot of time on your hands, give it a try. It was still great food in an amazing atmosphere.

Pepper steak. Tasty; 26 euros.

Meh...I wasn't impressed. My biggest problem with this restaurant is that they have different menus for different nationalitys. Makes you wonder... I saw a delicious dish headed over to another table so I asked the server what it was. She said "That dish is not on the American menu; there are different menus depending" WHAT?! Large portions, but very expensive. The pepper steak was 26 euros. I would not recommend.

Here on a tour bus so we had under an hour for lunch. I pulled up Yelp & saw that this place had great ratings. The service was warm & friendly. The bread basket was excellent and each of us enjoyed our meal choices: Spatzle, Farmers' Meat plate & the sausage plate. Very good!

The food they served were just ok. Note that the pork knuckles are big and I think one order is good for 2 pax, though the waiter advised that it's good for 1 normal person. Service was kinda slow too

Long wait for service and poor food, mediocre at best. Our waitress miscalculated our check, which we almost left without noticing.

Beer is fine but the meat is too salty and not juicy. Besides, the Chinese menu's description is not same as the real food.

This is a relatively straightforward local Bravarian pub/restaurant. You have your waiters all in traditional dress and the expected cozy beer house settings. I had a chance to sample their weisswurst/white sausages, which are traditionally served before noon and always freshly made (at the right places). This place did not disappoint .. with the sausages tasting extremely fresh and pairing perfectly with that tasty traditional Bravarian sweet mustard. (Tip: You do not eat the skin of these sausages - locals typically cut the sausage in half horizontally and take the meat out that way). The beer here was also just right and adding pretzels to the mix made the whole experience feel so ... Bravarian. If you're visiting this lovely part of Germany, it's not a bad idea to stop by and sample some of their nice traditional fare. The service was spotty but generally speaking, my experience was very good overall.

I fell in love with the trout tank and the fresh trout to the point where we went back two more times that week. Later in the early 80s we were back and I went there again and had to trout once more. It was amazing! Even after 45 years those trout loom large in my memory of Berchtesgaden. Anyone else remember the trout tank? Does it still exist? Do they still serve trout if it doesn't? Can we get a photo?

Esszimmer is convenient, and there's off street parking (paid) a one minute walk away. I ordered the Starter of consumme with ravioli of red beet, beech nuts and kumquats. So refined, petite and delicious. Maximillian (Chef and Owner) knows precisely how to mix delicate flavors into a symphony! For my Entrée, I ordered roasted quail, presented with asparagus, morels, pumpkin cream and potatoes. All seasoned to delight my taste buds. Preceding it all was a special bite I can't truly describe other than delicious, along with a variety of fine sliced breads. An extensive wine list is offered, along with spirits. I didn't have room for dessert, however I'm certain it's of the same high quality. Our server turned out to be the wife, Roxana, who is a co-owner. This young couple is clearly doing their best to delight their customers. If we lived nearby, we'd be regulars beyond a doubt. The experience deserves a full 5!

We ordered the two tasting menus (meat and vegetarian) and the two drink pairings (alcohol and nonalcoholic). We've never had multiple options for the pairings anywhere else. This allowed us, since we share, to taste the entire menu Esszimmer offers. We can honestly say that EVERYTHING is fantastic.
