A traditional beer hall style restaurant, with most people clustering in the plaza outdoor seats, but with a smaller space both inside and out, compared to similar area restaurants. The food and dessert menu is listed sequentially in the same book in multiple European languages (and Chinese); flip to the preferred section. The beverage menu is German only; translation apps help. Although understaffed at the time and our waitress constantly running back and forth with orders or empty plates/glasses, service when we got it was cheerful and friendly. The theme for the food, unfortunately, was excessive saltiness. The leberknödelsuppe had a decent liver dumpling with good flavor and finely ground texture, but the soup was a salt bomb. Likewise was venison goulash, which improved when mixed with cranberry relish and fluffy, housemade spaetzle. The sausage platter had four types and levels of sausage saltiness going on. Beers are beers and were fine. Although the restaurant was comfortable, the staff good, and there being some very good spaetzle, three for three food orders being overly salty is too much a pattern to try more. read more

Having spent a good deal of time in Berchtesgaden I can attest to Bier Adam's authentic food. After the Golden Bear closed down for renovations last year, my wife and I, during our last week in Berchtesgaden spent a good deal of time here instead. The waitstaff is very accommodating and friendly (and puts up with our broken German). The food is delicious and warming and the location is a perfect spot to sit and have a Weißbier. read more

I got into Berchtesgaden late in the evening, checked into a hotel, and then walked down the main retail strip up in the hills. It was probably nearing 9pm, and already most of the restaurants seemed closed or utterly dead. Luckily, I hit Bier Adam near the end of the strip and it was bumping. Well, as bumping as a small Bavarian restaurant can be in the middle of the Alps. Better yet, the food was really good too. Definitely try the "Rehmedaillons "Schloss Hubertus" mit Pfifferlingen in feiner Wildsauce, Speckbohnen, Kartoffelkroketten und Preiselbeeren" which I think roughly translates to really good venison medallions with mushrooms, a cranberry sauce, some green beans wrapped in bacon (!), and the ever present potato dumpling. The venison goulash was good, too. The dark beer was excellent -- probably the most flavorful of all the beers I tried in Germany, so I still remember it distinctly. Dessert, the apfelschmarrn, was mostly forgettable, but still did the trick. I'd go back to Bier Adam in a heartbeat. read more

VERY SALTY food+TERRIBLE service=HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! One of the dish was forgotten to serve until we have almost finished the dinner. We asked the waitress why it was served so late, she replied us without any explanation or apologize, but with an eye-roll! When we asked for bill, they simply gave us a hand-written bill with a list of scrawl numbers without dish names, by which we couldn't even tell how much was charged on each dish. We had to ask them to provide a printed bill, and wait for another 10 minutes to get the printed bill, so that we could confirm whether we were charged correctly. I guess they know we are Chinese tourists and we are going to pay cash, and by giving us a hand-written bill, they can avoid tax. In a word, I DO NOT recommend this unprofessional and dishonest restaurant to anyone! read more

This was a hot spot in town and busy on the night we were there. Located right in city center where the beautiful traditional buildings and shopping is abundant. I ordered a radler and it came out with only Weissbeer. I didn't return it however, because the beer was still good. Just not what I expected. The service was ok but slow. It took us almost 1.5 hours to order our drinks and eat. We waited almost a full hour for our food. I did enjoy that the chef hand delivered the more expensive plates himself. I am giving three stars because the food was excellent, but it took a long time to get it. Overall, if you have a lot of time on your hands, give it a try. Had a good dinner and few beers here and was not disappointed. Place is cute and in a good location, service was decent and reasonably priced. They offer a comprehensive menu and have it ready in many different languages which is always appreciated! What we ordered: Their wheat beer is really good - I'd suggest trying the dark version though over the light one. Both are worth it though. Regular Goulash and oxtail soup were both very good and I'd highly recommend. Veal medallions were decent. A little on the dry side - but I'd still order it again. They had a great selection of desserts but we didn't have time to give them a try. They all looked amazing though! Place starts to get busy FAST, so get there a bit early for decent seating. Final Verdict: If I lived in this town I'd definitely stop in on occasion for sure! read more

Meh...I wasn't impressed. My biggest problem with this restaurant is that they have different menus for different nationalitys. Makes you wonder... I saw a delicious dish headed over to another table so I asked the server what it was. She said "That dish is not on the American menu; there are different menus depending" WHAT?! This ain't it for Bavarian food. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but the meat in the Farmer's Feast was dry and the gravy bland. My wife had a slightly better experience with the mixed sausages. They do offer a nice quiet location a walking block behind the main road, and service was responsive. Lastly, I was surprised to find out when I tried to pay that they do not take credit cards--had to run down the street to the ATM. This was probably posted clearly on the menu, but my point is more along the lines of: its 2019 and you operate in a town so frequented by foreign tourists that you offer a menu in seven languages; you need to take credit cards. On a Sunday at 6:20 we were refused a table by a very rude waiter. Said they were full and we can't wait, yet there was a couple waiting, 5 open tables outside and 4 people walked in and were seated one minute after we walked out. OMG? On Saturday, not a problem. Went for dinner on Monday at 18:23. Took my order at 18:51. Beer arrived at 19:12. Food arrived 25 mins later and was inedible. Staff was rude. Saw others seated and had their orders and meals before us. Not sure if it was because we were Americans, but this was the worst I have ever been treated in Germany. read more

Here on a tour bus so we had under an hour for lunch. I pulled up Yelp & saw that this place had great ratings. The service was warm & friendly. The bread basket was excellent and each of us enjoyed our meal choices: Spatzle, Farmers' Meat plate & the sausage plate. Very good! read more

Beer is fine but the meat is too salty and not juicy. Besides, the Chinese menu's description is not same as the real food.

I was really excited to try Bier-Adam on my visit to Germany, and made sure we gave it a try while spending the day in Berchtesgaden. On our visit we all had some different dishes such as Fish, Sausages, and Pork Shank. All the foods were middle of the road as far as the local food goes. I found the Pork Shank to be just a little on the dry side, but still pretty good. Overall this was a middle of the road place with a touch higher prices. read more
