Their small section of outdoor seats and tables are orange and white (not the seats/tables in the center of the plaza). Inside are more seats in an airy, colorful space, plus a cute loft area in the back. Great spot for a light meal, dessert, or drink, and a break from the heavier, traditional German foods favored in the area. Foods are along the lines of bruschetta, antipasti, and pizzas. The 30 cm pizzas are relatively thin crust, with many topping combinations to choose from, and gets a pass (if not a thumbs up) from this New Yorker. Antipasti are reasonably good; the platter that had a sampling of all included hard cheese and mozzarella, cured ham, olives, pickled peppers, grilled zucchini and eggplant, and a refreshing, tangy curry-mango spread. A slice of mandarin orange cream pie was unexpectedly delightful: creamy, light, and not very sweet. Cappuccino and coffee are fine. For something more modern and fun in Marktplatz, Genuss delivers. Our visits were relaxing, and our server always very hospitable.

We started with drinks and the feta cheese appetizer with bread. Then I had the spaghetti con pesto genovese and my bf had the spaghetti carbonara. Both pasta dishes were incredible, but the highlight was the dessert. Their homemade tiramisu came out of a 9"x13" pan, looking like it just came from Nonna's house. It was the BEST I've ever had, and I've had a lot of tiramisu. Service was good, both servers were helpful and friendly and I liked the open kitchen so I could smell the food cooking and see it being finished.

At first you might be hesitant, but this Cafe can really pull you in with its charm…read more We stayed in the Cafe Malerwinkels hotel part, but didn't get around to try their, so we've heard, amazing Kaiserschmarn. So I won't be able to comment on the Cafes hospitalities. When we arrived, we were greeted by the house owner herself. Who was a very nice woman. All throughout the week we felt very comfortable and she was always very sweet and helpful. When you walk in you can immediately smell a little wooden, fireplace like smell. Which makes it all so cozy and on rainy days it will warm you up the moment you. walk through the door. The house has a very old fashion style, which we enjoyed, cause it just fits the scenery. The rooms might seem a little bare and cold to you at first (google the cafe, in the reviews you'll find some pictures: what you see is what you get) but as soon as you unload, you'll realize that it fits your personal chaos perfectly. We especially loved the heigh ceilings, the winter garden (really comes in handy, when your significant other takes an afternoon nap or its rainy outside) and the balcony. All three of those made our stay very homey. We spend some afternoons out on the balcony, playing games, enjoying the view and the sun setting behind the mountains. Also, when it got chilly or rainy out, we could easily move inside, while watching the town calm down. This room (Room #4, definitely recommend!!) was just perfect for us. After getting used to the old fashion style... Some things that might also seem odd: you don't get a bathroom separate to your room. For us, we had a shower in one corner of our room, with a sink next to it. Our toilet was in a room next door to our room. If these are things that bother you, this might not be a great fit for you. A couple last things to note: the waitress in the cafe during the day, also a very sweet and humorous. she was very helpful on the daily, since we basically brought a tick home, every time we went out. The beds are very comfy! Very soft! The service we experienced, especially as young people, was very nice. Almost unexpected, since this rare, for people our age. The cost/performance ratio is great. For two people we paid 70€ a night, which is around the same for the hotels in the actual town area, but without the view. All in all, as you can tell, I WOULD RECOMMEND!
