The consumption of Pączkis (pronounced punch" and "key"), or traditional deep-fried doughnuts with sweet fillings like fruit jam, is believed to bring good luck. A properly made Pączki is a yellow ball of heavy cream, pasteurized egg yolks, yeast, salt, flour, and a splash of rum. Then, the balls are flung onto a tray in neat rows and dunked in oil heated to 375 degrees. After each Pączki cools, it is sprinkled with powdered sugar or slathered in glaze, leaving a smooth, rounded exterior and a tiny pocket of air between the fruit and dough. Today being my partner's birthday, he was in the mood for these sweets. Unfortunately, our local Polish bakery was closed for vacation. Our friend has informed us that he shops at this establishment located off River Drive in Garfield. Upon arriving, there were shoppers lined up by the deli next to the bakery, and the sighting of these donuts made me smile. These came in 2 flavors: raspberry jelly, and rose hips, or thick prune-and-apple lekvar jam. We decided on three each at $1.50. These were freshly made and hit the spot.

I love being able to pick up your favorite soda or polish snack without having to buy the plane ticket to Poland The deli meat and kielbasa are super fresh with high quality ingredients and if I'm feeling super lazy, the hot food section has an amazing variety of dinners with that fresh home cooked meal vibe. Also super affordable

Why would you even compare to the GIANT super markets?? if you want a local ,friendly and top rate MarketPlace this is the place. It's smaller , cozy and fun to walk around inside to see the different types of foods they sell. Besides it's in a great little neighborhood and a cozy little area. Keep Up the good work!!

This reminds of a low-end Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace, which I like a lot better. The vegetables look good at this place ( I bought some) but the prepared food I tried was awful. I had a Mediterranean focaccia sandwich and their potato salad. The sandwich was super dry and tasteless and the potato salad had one note of vinegar. I made potato salad for the first time this year and it came out 1,000 times better. Besides this the store layout is a little maze-like. Had the New Jersey article not touted this marketplace as some place I can spend all day and get lost in, I probably would have rated this 3 stars. Nevertheless, it does not live up to the hype for me. I live many miles away from here but even if it were in my town, I would barely frequent it it or just stop by for the vegetables. Their organic scallions were the best, however, so that gets 5 stars. Everything else was mediocre.

They were busy but it was manageable. The shop is clean and bright. They have plenty of staff working behind the counter. The woman who helped me was awesome! Very patient. I wanted lunch for my wife and I and some leftovers for the next day. I certainly came to the right place! Absolutely huge portions! Outstanding prices! I went with two platters of stuffed cabbage, buckwheat, and sauerkraut, a pork shank plus a small split pea soup. They threw in a dozen cookies and the total was $33. Cannot beat that! Didn't get to eat it for about an hour, everything was still hot. Absolutely loved everything! Tender stuffed cabbage, falling off the bone pork shank, delicious soup, and buckwheat galore! Even enjoyed a few of the complimentary cookies. This place is a hit!!

Piast Meats and Provision is an authentic Polish supermarket located off of River Drive. Their team is made up of professional butchers, bakers, and cooks laboring in their craft with care and passion. Customers like us often seek out their signature pierogi, cold cuts, stuffed cabbage, beef jerky, and hot entrees that are served on site. My partner and I have been here numerous times and decided on takeout. We opted for Breaded Chicken Cutlet with Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Vegetables as well as Chicken Cutlet with Mushroom and Cheese accompanied by Pork Meatball, and Red Cabbage Salad. The delicious and well-seasoned meal arrived home still hot, as it was sealed tightly with Saran Wrap. The portion size was generous and can easily serve two people at a reasonable price. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and bilingual. We continue to recommend this place.
