The store itself is nice and clean. I went in on a Sunday right before they closed and they still had a great selection of fruits and veggies. They also have some fun cheeses and dips to choose from in the back. I love these types of farmers markets because they're really inexpensive and great quality produce. I also loved their barrel of pickles, you can never find those anymore and they're always the best. I left with a full bag of produce and spent less than 20 bucks! They also have a flower section with fresh bouquets and even someone there to arrange one for you. Overall, a great stop when you need some fresh fruits and veggies.

For Polish bakeries, few holidays are bigger than Fat Tuesday the day before Ash Wednesday and the…read morebeginning of Lent. The consumption of Pączkis (pronounced punch" and "key"), or traditional deep-fried doughnuts with sweet fillings like fruit jam, is believed to bring good luck. A properly made Pączki is a yellow ball of heavy cream, pasteurized egg yolks, yeast, salt, flour, and a splash of rum. Then, the balls are flung onto a tray in neat rows and dunked in oil heated to 375 degrees. After each Pączki cools, it is sprinkled with powdered sugar or slathered in glaze, leaving a smooth, rounded exterior and a tiny pocket of air between the fruit and dough. Today being my partner's birthday, he was in the mood for these sweets. Unfortunately, our local Polish bakery was closed for vacation. Our friend has informed us that he shops at this establishment located off River Drive in Garfield. Upon arriving, there were shoppers lined up by the deli next to the bakery, and the sighting of these donuts made me smile. These came in 2 flavors: raspberry jelly, and rose hips, or thick prune-and-apple lekvar jam. We decided on three each at $1.50. These were freshly made and hit the spot.

I randomly found this place on Google because it said they had fresh tortillas (they did not). I…read morealso saw they are popular for their smoothies so I thought why not stop for some while I pick up the tortillas. I had some smoothie that had radishes in it. Don't ask me why I got this one because I don't know the answer to that myself. The whole thing just tasted like radishes, and I couldn't really taste anything else that was in there. I also saw them adding SUGAR to the smoothies! Not sure if it was mine they were adding it to but why is anyone adding any sugar to a smoothie?! My husband ordered a different smoothie (can't remember which now) and it was way too sweet, so maybe it was his they added the sugar to. Google has definitely deceived me on the tortillas, and I wasted money on smoothies I could have made better myself at home.
