This applies to BDH's Ebay selling methods only. On Ebay BDH advertises bike parts with FREE shipping to US. They enjoy an exchange rate advantage and use that to compete on Ebay. However, the real cost of ordering unfolds after the commitment to buy. I was very disappointed to receive a separate invoice from Fedex 2 months later, for 15% of the item's value. I went back and reviewed the fine print on the BDH Ebay page and yes indeed it says in much smaller and lighter font that customs duties "may" apply. This fine print gotcha experience also manifests in any attempt to return the item. Their clearly stated return policy looks fine when you are ordering, but should you actually need to return the item, you will find out, as I did, that the duties, fees and Fedex Ground shipping back to BDH compared to the cost of the item itself. When I brought this to BDH' attention, the rep was exceedingly snarky in his response, made no room for my point of view whatsoever, challenged my findings, and rather unapologetically characterized my need to return the item as my own mistake and my own frustration. I suggested that they make it much clearer that their 'return policy' was in reality so prohibitive that it would not end up making economic sense to return an item. No interest in doing that! The insult added to that injury was the surprise invoice for duties 2 months down the road. Quite simply, BDH Bikes is baiting with the exchange rate and burying the real implications of CA-US mail order in the innocuous language of their T's & C's. Clearly a one and done strategy of selling to US customers. They've covered their butts in the T's and C's, but their method of advertising and describing the deal offered is unnecessarily misleading and serves their interest in one-time gotcha transactions. read more
