The difference is that here, you dont have to take out a second job to get your hair done every two months. The stylists are fantastic -super friendly without being overly intrusive, and they treat their clients with a sense of importance, like they value their business. I like to book in with Dianne or Donna - Dianne is the owner and Donna is one of the younger girls there, but still does an amazing job. My hair has never looked better. I get colour and highlights, and its the perfect colour for me. My highlights look natural, and they manage to keep my hair long but stil healthy by chopping off just the right amount each visit. Honestly I cant recommend this place enough. If you are in the area, or even if you arent, and are looking for a new stylist, give them a call. You wont regret it.

Caprice is owned and run by the multi-talented Kelly. She occasionally has an assistant on hand but sometimes it's just her so it's best to call ahead of time and book an appointment. Kelly has been doing my shellac manicures for about a year now. The prices are very reasonable: 25-30 dollars and about five dollars cheaper than the same service at Jade and Opal nail salons in Yarraville. Her shellac rarely chips and stays on a lot longer than at some other places. I can usually go three weeks between reapplications when I've been to Caprice. A few months ago I went home to the US and got an amazing haircut for 35 dollars. I just couldn't stomach the idea of paying 75-80 for the same (usually subpar) service in Melbourne so when Kelly told me that her haircuts were priced at 30-40 I reckoned I had to give it a go. SO happy that I did. At Caprice the hair wash is optional, which is partly why the price is so low. A blow dry is still included and Kelly spends quite a long time making sure my hair looks good. She doesn't rush through the process. I've now had two haircuts here and they've both looked phenomenal. My partner usually prefers me with my hair up but he likes my Caprice cuts so much that he's been requesting I leave it down: A first in our six years together! There are two other salons down the street that both charge 70 dollars for a simple cut. I can't imagine that they'd be any better than the cuts on offer over at Caprice. The extra forty bucks probably goes to a complimentary latte and a five minute shampoo. No thanks. For price and quality you can't beat this place.

Being new…read moreto the area 12 months ago and following the birth of my baby, I was in desperate need of finding a hair salon to fix me up. Being a bleached blonde with damaged hair, I'll admit I'm not the easiest client. But quite frankly a visit to the hairdressers used to give me the shakes, nobody could seem to get my hair the shade of ash blonde I desired, and the long hair I craved went up in smoke as it would be snapped away. And then by miracle Toni K became the only salon I knew close to my home. Twelve months later I am a devoted client; making my way to the salon every six weeks to pamper myself with a cut, colour and treatment. My hair is now half way down my back with not a tint of brassy blonde. I've never been one to enjoy the banter of forced conversation between hairdresser and client, but the atmosphere of the salon combined with the genuine chit chat between hairdressers, Toni K himself and clients alike gives the salon an olden day barber shop feel with all the modern trimmings of a modern salon. I simply can't speak more highly of the results I've received. Every time I leave I feel like a million dollars, ecstatic at my cut, colour and the price I've paid for it all. If you decide to book an appointment, Astin is a tried and tested professional. She is respectful about what you want and is able to pull it off with perfection. And if you're a guy, the girls can look after you just as well, but you might want to test out Toni K; I've seen him work his magic on quite a few fellas who are obviously regulars, and all I can is the man certainly deserves a self titled hair salon.

All the great amenities of a good salon come with it: current issue fashion mags, coffee or tea offered and a head massage with your wash. Open before business hours so you can pop in at the start of your day or in your lunch hour.
