Stumbled upon this spot during our date night last Friday. My wife wanted to peruse the store for a bit and I agreed lol. What we noticed right away is that it is a small market with a big impact. It is an "Everybody is welcome" type of spot and they ensure all that ensure all that enters knows. They have all types of signs and flags up. While we were here the Mrs. wanted a few items. She got a hugh beef meatball, cauliflower salad and Kumbuchi (She never had this and really wanted to try it). We met Cristina who is the in the pics (Deli/kitchen assistant manager. She explained too us that we could taste anything in the deli that we wanted to. She also stated that she tasted tests all the food in the morning prior to it going out to ensure that it is made just right. She told us that part of their missing statement is "We feed and we are fed!". We both love that. Overall, we both felt this was a cute market and we really loved the whole vibe that it gives. Growing up in The Mission ( Never the Mish) and going to Mission High School and hanging at Dolores Park ( Never Dolo) in the city, I always went or passed by Bi-Rite. It is good to see it expand over the years and even having one of the best ice cream in SF which is hella good. One thing I always remember when visiting a Bi- Rite was they have the flavors to fit many people's personalities. I call them the three S's: Sweet, Salty, and the Sour in SF. You will definitely find sweet ice treats inside along with salty snacks and sour lemons at the Mission District location. I went to a different Bi-Rite to discover if they also have the three S's ( Sweet, Salty, and Sour) in SF so I went to the Divisadero location. On a Fall stroll and the last leg of the October Summer sun in SF, I landed at Bi-Rite on Divisadero street to discover if it had the three S's( Sweet, Salty, and Sour). First S, I found was for Sweet. Although this location doesn't have an ice cream parlor you can find sweet treats. They had the pumpkin pie cheesecake in a jar which was a bit sweet but also cheesy which also has a good pumpkin pie taste without the flakey crust like some in SF. They also have Angel cake and other sweet flakey treats in SF. The second S, I found was for Salty. I saw some salty tortilla chips which easily can be dipped in guacamole, and cheese which Bi-Rite has all ingredients available in SF. The last S is for Sour and you can differently find lots of sour lemons in SF but also sour cherry tomatoes. This Bi-Rite has all three S's and personality included. Planted outside you find a "sunflower"and find inside "cauliflower"and baked breads made with "flour"which some are sweet and some are salty and some breads in SF are "sour" This place has lots of food some are available sometimes due "seasonality"this Bi-Rite is in a good location in SF due to its "centrality" and it has the three S's which is Sweet, Sour, Salty flavors which match some "personality" it's human nature which is the way of the world and the way of "humanity" read more

had the sutro sandwich which has prosciutto mozz and focaccia etc and came out surprisingly small. also had one turkey and beef meatball from the case those were pretty good, turkey almost tasted like beef which I liked. good flavor but expensive (6$ each) even if theyre large. I've heard good things about their sandwiches and had to give it a shot but it was just a standard sandwich. Came by for some groceries the other night and it was a phenomenal experience. Bi-Rite is a high-end grocery store with numerous organic fruits and vegetables. They also carry some high-end and local artisan bread. Some staff wear disposable gloves and some even wear a name tag. Bi-Rite ice cream is also s-tier! Super fresh Sandos. I got the telegraph sandwich and the roast beef was beautifully marbled and bread had that fresh crunch. Cheese was high quality and they don't skimp on the fried onions. I love browsing this small but jam-packed market to try interesting, fancy, special, and local foods, and even better, they take EBT! Their selection of goods is quite impressive from breads from Rize Up (ube sourdough!) to a nice selection of chocolates (Deux Cranes' matcha chocolate with caramelized sesame!), but I wouldn't do my normal grocery shopping here because it's pricey. It's so cool that they collaborate with local businesses to create unique ice cream flavors. This location sells pints only, not scoops. I tried their limited edition sweet ume plum ice cream in collaboration with Rintaro, which tastes like a tart, original froyo. I couldn't taste any plum flavor, but it was deliciously smooth and creamy. I can't wait to try more of their collaboration pints. I also stumbled upon Petite LaFleur's salted dark chocolate honeycomb here, and it's absolutely delectable! read more

Bi-rite has good produce but it is also over priced. My issue is that i end-up with very often a scammy experience. I go to buy 4 lemon and a salad and they will charge me 25$. It is always due to a mistake, sorry i charge you 12$ a lb for the salad because i thought, it was little gem, sorry i thought the lemon were 5.99 a lb instead of 3.99$... Bi-Rite Market is a small grocery store that has almost anything you are looking for. They have fresh fruits to milk, ice cream, pasta, and flowers. The market does not have their ice cream to buy by scoops but you can get their ice cream that is already packaged in the frozen section. I got the chocolate pie the other day and it is very tasty! It is perfect for anyone who has a sweet tooth. It is not big in size but it is really dense so it is enough to share with at least 4-5 people. Shopping at Bi-rite has been mostly a pleasant experience. I have bought a few items at this location, and most of them have been relatively good. However, today, I bought a garlic noodle salmon meal from the prepared foods section. I brought this item home to put in my air fryer, and eat it for dinner. As I was enjoying this meal, I had noticed a small black item that appeared to be a small black hair. I looked at this object for minutes trying to decipher what it was. I also searched the rest of this product to see if there were more identical objects. Unfortunately, that was the only lone-wolf. I did not want to believe Bi-rite would have this happen. I understand mistakes happen, but this place is too expensive to have a foreign object in their prepared food item. Sigh. read more

Parking is on the street. Store is tiny. I came for the sandwich and it did not disappoint. It was absolutely delicious. I got the lone mountain and the bread was perfect. The content was also super neatly packed. It was really good. Wish I didn't live so far or I'd be here all the time. Local gem that I haven't visited in a while. I dropped by bc I was in the area and I tried the salmon salad which was fire. Most salmon salads I have had tend to be dry but this one was perfection. Perfect amount of moist. The sweet potatoe and kale salad was phenomenal. I could eat that for days. Great consistency and flavors. I also tried the banana pecan bread which was alright. I little dry for my liking but my friend liked it. The honey marshmallow was also a delight. Overall this trip reminded how much I need to keep comin back to bi rite. I hate spending so much money here but the quality of everything is INCREDIBLE and the employees are the nicest around. This isn't somewhere you should probably go to buy ALL of your groceries, but it's the perfect stop for a few things here and there. They carry all of the local specialty brand items that are a bit harder to find at places like Safeway or Lucky. I usually don't buy produce here because it seems to be significantly more expensive than the city farmers' markets. As far as ready-made items go, almost everything is delicious! I get fresh sandwiches from the deli here all of the time. The ham and cheese baguette is always a winner! They have really nice salads and bottled drinks as well. They have a super tiny space with a lot of shelving and people packed in. Definitely stay away if you are claustrophobic. During the day it's manageable, but at night it gets to be too crowded and uncomfortable. read more

Popped in here for their sandwiches and it was made with such fresh ingredients right after I ordered! I also didn't even mind the wait at all because during the wait we just browsed around the market. There's many things to look at and study--their meats and produce all look high quality and fresh. The sandwiches were also really good, they were put together well. The only reason I give it a 4/5 would be that it just felt like a sandwich I put together at home if that makes sense. Great selection of wines, food, and they also sell amazing flowers. I purchased a bouquet of dahlias and the cashier did a great job gift wrapping it for a friend of mine. He was very polite, patient, and took his time wrapping the bouquet with tissue and brown paper, as well as a flower wrap string which added a nice touch. This grocery store is so darn cute! Their strawberry vinegar is so delicious that I tried to alMost mimic of how it was made. I figured it be just pouring some vinegar in some ice cream lol haha JK I was tempted to do so though. Anyways I wish this market was in other cities!! Like Marin county can use something cute like this. But then you will be competing with Good Earth. I love picking up their fresh bouquet of flowers from time to time. When I used to work in the city I always stop by here at least once a week to grab some lunch/dinner. Staff are always so friendly especially the ones behind the deli counter. I do wish it was a bit bigger and have more items though. This place is more of a grab n go kind of place. Mainly sell a lot of specialty items wine, cheese, crackers etc, items you may need for a picnic. Also there's a great selection of chocolates. If you are looking for a mini gift chocolates/cookies that is nicely packaged and some of the items are from locals of SF. Simple perfect ice cream. Did not try the mixings, the simple straightforward ice cream was sufficient. Did the classic salted caramel and black sesame. Both were perfect blend of creamy and smooth. Complex and decadent flavours. A lot of thought and effort went into this. These guys know their ice cream and nonchalantly delivers. 2 scoops = very reasonably priced.
