This place is filled with toxins!! Awful place. They even have yellow 5,red 40, and blue 1 in food. Everything has seed oils. There's no gluten free or vegan options. It's overpriced while being cheap toxic food. I went in and immediately left after I saw how toxic the food all was. It's all processed. Stay away if are into health. read more

Super fresh Sandos. I got the telegraph sandwich and the roast beef was beautifully marbled and bread had that fresh crunch. Cheese was high quality and they don't skimp on the fried onions. I love browsing this small but jam-packed market to try interesting, fancy, special, and local foods, and even better, they take EBT! Their selection of goods is quite impressive from breads from Rize Up (ube sourdough!) to a nice selection of chocolates (Deux Cranes' matcha chocolate with caramelized sesame!), but I wouldn't do my normal grocery shopping here because it's pricey. It's so cool that they collaborate with local businesses to create unique ice cream flavors. This location sells pints only, not scoops. I tried their limited edition sweet ume plum ice cream in collaboration with Rintaro, which tastes like a tart, original froyo. I couldn't taste any plum flavor, but it was deliciously smooth and creamy. I can't wait to try more of their collaboration pints. I also stumbled upon Petite LaFleur's salted dark chocolate honeycomb here, and it's absolutely delectable! read more

Bi-rite has good produce but it is also over priced. My issue is that i end-up with very often a scammy experience. I go to buy 4 lemon and a salad and they will charge me 25$. It is always due to a mistake, sorry i charge you 12$ a lb for the salad because i thought, it was little gem, sorry i thought the lemon were 5.99 a lb instead of 3.99$... I ordered a sandwich here today at the counter. The guy asked me my name, and then proceeded to write an obviously different name on the order slip. If I hadn't been paying attention to what he wrote, I would probably have been standing around waiting an extra 10 to 15 minutes wondering where my sandwich was. My name is Pedro, not Pablo. Shopping at Bi-rite has been mostly a pleasant experience. I have bought a few items at this location, and most of them have been relatively good. However, today, I bought a garlic noodle salmon meal from the prepared foods section. I brought this item home to put in my air fryer, and eat it for dinner. As I was enjoying this meal, I had noticed a small black item that appeared to be a small black hair. I looked at this object for minutes trying to decipher what it was. I also searched the rest of this product to see if there were more identical objects. Unfortunately, that was the only lone-wolf. I did not want to believe Bi-rite would have this happen. Bi-Rite Market is a small grocery store that has almost anything you are looking for. They have fresh fruits to milk, ice cream, pasta, and flowers. The market does not have their ice cream to buy by scoops but you can get their ice cream that is already packaged in the frozen section. I got the chocolate pie the other day and it is very tasty! It is perfect for anyone who has a sweet tooth. It is not big in size but it is really dense so it is enough to share with at least 4-5 people. Local gem that I haven't visited in a while. I dropped by bc I was in the area and I tried the salmon salad which was fire. Most salmon salads I have had tend to be dry but this one was perfection. Perfect amount of moist. The sweet potatoe and kale salad was phenomenal. I could eat that for days. Great consistency and flavors. I also tried the banana pecan bread which was alright. I little dry for my liking but my friend liked it. The honey marshmallow was also a delight. Overall this trip reminded how much I need to keep comin back to bi rite. The food here is really fresh and they have unique options I can't find in Whole Foods or other healthier stores (at least in Sacramento). Highly recommend. read more

Always reluctant to shop here because of the snootie people they employ. You work in a grocery store I understand many might not like their jobs. If I'm coming in to drop 100$ on a few items I would expect a smile and a greeting. Most recently, Walter waited on me as I checked out and I just felt rushed and uncomfortable the whole time. He wasn't pleasant and just seemed mad at the world. I'd rather go to Gus's and shop if this is how coming here makes me feel. I hate spending so much money here but the quality of everything is INCREDIBLE and the employees are the nicest around. This isn't somewhere you should probably go to buy ALL of your groceries, but it's the perfect stop for a few things here and there. They carry all of the local specialty brand items that are a bit harder to find at places like Safeway or Lucky. I usually don't buy produce here because it seems to be significantly more expensive than the city farmers' markets. As far as ready-made items go, almost everything is delicious! I get fresh sandwiches from the deli here all of the time. The ham and cheese baguette is always a winner! They have really nice salads and bottled drinks as well. They have a super tiny space with a lot of shelving and people packed in. Definitely stay away if you are claustrophobic. During the day it's manageable, but at night it gets to be too crowded and uncomfortable. read more

Popped in here for their sandwiches and it was made with such fresh ingredients right after I ordered! I also didn't even mind the wait at all because during the wait we just browsed around the market. There's many things to look at and study--their meats and produce all look high quality and fresh. The sandwiches were also really good, they were put together well. The only reason I give it a 4/5 would be that it just felt like a sandwich I put together at home if that makes sense. He was very polite, patient, and took his time wrapping the bouquet with tissue and brown paper, as well as a flower wrap string which added a nice touch. That is a significant difference and not what's advertised in their pricing policy. Instacart says the MERCHANT determines the price of the products. This grocery store is so darn cute! Their strawberry vinegar is so delicious that I tried to alMost mimic of how it was made. I figured it be just pouring some vinegar in some ice cream lol haha JK I was tempted to do so though. Anyways I wish this market was in other cities!! Like Marin county can use something cute like this. But then you will be competing with Good Earth. I love picking up their fresh bouquet of flowers from time to time. When I used to work in the city I always stop by here at least once a week to grab some lunch/dinner. Staff are always so friendly especially the ones behind the deli counter. I do wish it was a bit bigger and have more items though. This place is more of a grab n go kind of place. Mainly sell a lot of specialty items wine, cheese, crackers etc, items you may need for a picnic. Also there's a great selection of chocolates. If you are looking for a mini gift chocolates/cookies that is nicely packaged and some of the items are from locals of SF. Simple perfect ice cream. Did not try the mixings, the simple straightforward ice cream was sufficient. Did the classic salted caramel and black sesame. Both were perfect blend of creamy and smooth. I absolutely love this market! If you know, you know. If you're looking for all the cool kids, hipsters, and locals shop for quick meals, groceries etc. this is where they are! Located down the street from the historical Dolores Park, Bi-Rite is always a stop I make when I'm in the area. The market is incredibly small, and yet, it feels like a bazillion amount of people will pack themselves in the store just to shop. The fresh produce section features locally sourced fruits and veggies that are priced for that silicon valley worker. You'll find some really cool and unusual produce, so it's definitely worth checking out Artisanal bread's and cheeses are my why. The store actually has someone that works in the tiny cheese section, but she is so incredibly knowledgeable about all of the cheeses, it's insane. I always look forward to trying a new cheese, and back in the day, they used to offer samples. They Artisanal breads are amazing, and I personally go for the crunchy lemon flavored bread. It's truly delicious when it's warmed with butter. They carry a lot of packaged foods that they packaged themselves and make in there in House kitchen and deli. The deli and the fresh meat/seafood counter I have some of the best cuts of meat that I've seen. Again, it's worth it if you were silicon valley employee because the price points are definitely up there. So what do I love about this market? Everything! You literally can find anything and everything you need even in the small it feels like New York spaces. The employees are always friendly and willing to help you find whatever it is you may be looking for, or make suggestions for other items that you may be able to substitute or use. They are the truly a fresh food market. I have indulged and purchased fresh meat and was not disappointed. This review is mainly for the Bi-Rite ice cream, which is one of my top Bay Area ice cream shops. I usually go to the Dolores Park location but friends and I found ourselves in the market after running the KP race and pigging out at 4505 BBQ. Of course, ice cream was a must. I love Bi-Rite ice cream because of the awesome flavor profiles, smooth creamy consistency, and is made with the best locally sourced ingredients. My top flavors are honey lavender, salted caramel, and ricanelas (snickerdoodle). However, I love the seasonal flavors as well, like the Meyer lemon and orange cardamom that I tried this time around. Each bite is packed with flavor and is everything that I would want in an ice cream experience. Whenever I am in SF, I try to make it to Bi-Rite for a scoop or 3 of my trifecta flavors.
