The office lady's are nice but you go to the clinic for the care. I'd avoid going to him at all costs.

I went in for an annual checkup and was not expecting a sincere doctor who cared to talk through any little or small concerns! And since he was asking so sincerely, I did end up talking with him about a few other medical issues that I wasn't going to bring up. Ended up getting a few answers and a diagnosis that have helped me since. He also has a great way of explaining things in layman's terms without it being condescending. Overall a great experience and I thank him and the staff at Kailua for being on my care team! I wanted to provide a review of my recent two experiences at the Kailua Straub Clinic because when reading the negative reviews on here, it was not the same experience that I encountered. The staff at the front and in the back were wonderful, patient, kind, and caring. I also thought it was great that their lab has saturday open hours which is very helpful if you don't have time during a weekday to complete lab work! Another plus is parking is convenient and plenty either in their plaza or nearby.

It's walking distance from my work, and I wouldn't have to take over an hour of time off for round-trip transportation into town for PT. Granted, there are physical therapists right in my office building, but my doc from Straub recommended his own PT...and since the PT specialist had attended my doctor's appointment, I felt like he was the best option. At any rate, the Kailua Family Health Center, where the Straub PT is located, is a bright, cheery office located above Red Bamboo and other retail stores right in the heart of Kailua Town. It's been very peaceful and quiet every time I was there for PT, and all of the front desk ladies were so nice and friendly It's clean, clean, clean, and did I mention convenient? I don't have a lot of doctors who practice at Straub, but if you do and live on the Windward side, see if you can get your services taken care of at this place!

Unfortunately, this is not an OB/GYN office I would return to for future pregnancies. The midwives, however, were wonderful -- compassionate, attentive, and helped provide some of the warmth I felt was missing during my interactions with Dr. B. Experiencing a miscarriage is difficult enough, and it became even harder when I felt out of the loop regarding what was happening with my body and what follow-up care I should expect. I was brought in for two follow-up visits. At the first, Dr. B performed an ultrasound and identified retained clots. At the second visit, I was left waiting in the back office room for about 20 minutes while listening to a healthy, active fetal heartbeat from the neighboring room -- an extremely painful experience under the circumstances. When he finally came in, I was asked if I was done bleeding and then told I was "good to go." There was no repeat ultrasound and no HCG testing. While I respect Dr. B's clinical knowledge, I believe compassionate communication and thoughtful follow-up are essential during pregnancy loss. Unfortunately, that was missing here.

Dr. Susan Chapman is the most brilliant OBGYN and surgeon you would *ever* have the PRIVILEGE of…read morereceiving care from. Period. She is respected and admired by her peers and loved by her patients. How do I know? I worked for her peers and I have been a patient since I was in my mother's womb. That would make me a patient of hers for the last 37 years. My mother's was an *extremely* high risk pregnancy back in 1985 and I was born via c-section a little over 10 weeks early, though my development was closer to that of a 5 1/2 month old due to abnormal uterine issues and low amniotic fluid. Dr. Chapman helped keep me and my mother alive and safe. She has played a HUGE role in my family that she probably doesn't even realize. From my mom to my birth, to reshaping my mom's heart-shaped uterus so that she could carry my brother full-term, to discovering abnormal growths that needed to be surgically removed, to finding and treating an infection that would have cost me my fertility, to helping me conceive with PCOS and delivering not one, but TWO babies (with a third on the way!)... She has helped my family grow for the last 37 years. To say that I am grateful for her and to her is an understatement. She puts your care FIRST. I've read some silly reviews about "bedside manner"- which I think is just absurd because she is nothing but kind and, honestly, if you got work to do 'down there' I really don't want to talk about the weather. She is a no-nonsense woman who will help you achieve not just your reproductive health goals, but your overall wellbeing goals as well. Whether that be excellent care and prevention, healing, conceiving, contraception, screening, beautification, intimacy issues, etc- she is your all-in-one Godsend. Keep in mind, she is AMAZING at what she does and has a lot of people that depend on her expertise and care. You are one of them but there might be a time that she could be called to do an emergency c-section or a complicated delivery or something and there could be a wait, an offer to reschedule or an offer to see any one of her brilliant peers that work alongside her in clinic like Dr, Moore, Dr. Song or Dr. Wallace or whoever. It could happen. If that does, pray for the woman and baby that she is tending to on emergency, pray that God guides her hands to keep them safe and understand that to her, you are a valued patient that she will be happy to see and instead of complaining about the inconvenience, be comforted to know she'll do the same for you.

Doctor Braun felt that I should meet Dr. Chapman on the off chance that if I went into labor while Dr. Braun was on vacation, I would know the doctor who would be delivering my baby. At the time of my visit with Dr. Chapman I had been married for three years, was 46 years old, and I was 6 months pregnant. I was thrilled to be pregnant as I had always assumed I would never be able to have children. The first words out of Dr. Susan Chapmans mouth on meeting me, said from behind her clipboard were "What could you be thinking getting pregnant at your age?" I was so shocked I couldnt speak. I wanted to cry, to scream, but I was paralyzed by fear. I later told Dr Braun that I would rather have my baby delivered by a complete stranger than have Dr. Chapman deliver my baby! In short if you are looking for a mysogynistic cun_ to deliver your baby look no further than Dr. Susan Chapman! And for the record Dr. Chapman, my daughter turned out perfectly! She just graduated magna summa cum laude from UCLA with a double major and she is the best thing that ever happened to me! So what was I thinking???? I was thinking I am so damned lucky and blessed to be having a child!

It actually started out fairly okay (still not where my standards are) but nobody's perfect. However. After I got diagnosed with Gestational diabetes, things went really really bad. My OB at castle put in a referral to this place to schedule a consult and set me up with a nutritionist. I waited a few days. Heard from no one. No way to monitor my glucose levels, no guidance. Nothing. I finally called my OB and asked what was going on. They called them again. Then someone from this office finally put a prescription order in for a monitor. No instructions on how to use it. No call to still set up anything with a nutritionist. Luckily for me, my dad was a type 1 diabetic and I have a nursing degree, and I know how to use one. It still never took away from the fact that there is constantly an underlying feeling that this office doesn't care and I'm just another number or name on their patient list. Finally. After 2 weeks I got a call after my OBs office was shocked I still hadn't heard from these people. Two and a half weeks later I finally was seen. Not by any nutritionist still However. Just Dr Burlingame who knew I was clearly over the nonsense this place was pulling. She explained that their nutritionists were out sick or had some other type of reasons why these people couldn't do their jobs or at least update patients as to what was happening. I know my OB sources out more than this office so I didn't bother making a follow up here. Finally today- a nutritionist called me to set up an appointment. It's been over two and a half weeks since being diagnosed. They informed me they're very backed up and maybe could squeeze me in, in a couple of weeks. Thanks but no thanks at this point. I'll monitor myself and work directly with my OB and use their other referral for ultrasounds and stress tests. Lastly. Dr. Burlingame said she was going to run a couple labs. It's Friday night. After almost 24 hours they send me an automated voicemail TWO min before their office closes for the three day weekend and the automated message tells me I can view the labs on my portal. Well- surprise surprise- whoever set up my portal made it so the only thing I can view on the portal is my bill. Or ask questions about my bill. Can't view my labs. Can't do anything for another 3-4 days. This place is the absolute worst. Don't expect to get your labs or any type of important appointment in any sort of timely manner. No one seems to care. This type of healthcare is garbage and I value the health of myself and unborn baby way more than the way I have been treated here. Counting the days until this baby is born so I can be rid of the stress that THIS PLACE has cause
