If you live in the Dana Point area and are looking for a circuit training group fitness studio, you generally have two options, BFT and F45. And honestly, you can't go wrong with either choice. Yes, there are a few differences (BFT has squat racks and mirrors, F45 is mirror-less and not all of their studios have upgraded their equipment to include racks), but at the end of the day both offer 45-minute classes designed to get your heart rate up with a mix of cardio and light strength work. As long as the instructors are motivating, the studio is clean, and the programming keeps things fresh (both rotate workouts daily), you're set up for a great workout experience.
I've popped into the Dana Point BFT a few times and every experience has been great. The instructors are super friendly and attentive, the workouts are varied enough to keep me interested, and I always get a good sweat. And for those of you who are not familiar with the format, each workout is displayed on a TV screen, so if you're ever looking for a refresher on what the move is or if your form is correct (and the instructor is currently occupied helping out someone else), it's an easy reference point to look at.
My only comment is that it would be great if they offered some kind of bundle or crossover membership with the Yoga6 one street over. From what I understand, they're part of the same fitness family, and it would be such a perfect pairing...strength and circuit training at BFT, balanced out with stretching and mobility work at YogaSix. It feels like the kind of combo that would keep members healthier, more consistent, and less injury-prone. read more
