O am a previous client of Don the owners. I was transformed after cranial sacral sessions. I have known Don for 20 years and am also a massage therapist. The rooms are warm and cozy and quiet! I moved to the North suburbs but always will remember Beyond Wellness!!! read more

What does Don do? He can literally heal physical illnesses, he can remedy any mental confusion or depression, he can heal emotional trauma and so much more. It is very difficult to articulate what he does and what he is capable of doing, not to mention how he does it, which is a mystery. I honestly don't think there is anything that Don can't help you with, and that is saying a lot. Don will address your mind, your physical body, your energy/spirit body and your soul. Whenever I encounter someone who is having a physical issue, I give out Don's number. If someone mentions they are having a really hard time or feeling depressed or anxious. See Don. Having a problem with your back or pain? See Don. Having fertility or pregnancy related issues? See Don. Having an energy block, or feeling icky, moody or simply not your best self? See Don. Cancer or heart related issues? See Don. I have referred countless family, friends and clients to him because I know in my heart, he will help them like no other. One of Don's many gifts is the ability to understand how to speak to each person as an individual, not just anyone is capable of this. He never judges, no matter what. And no matter what you've done or said he will remain steadfast with empathy. Did I mention he is gifted? When I think about Don and how to describe him to someone who doesn't know him a lot of things come to mind. He is a healer, a true healer with the most magical abilities that are truly out of this world. He is known and referred to as a Shaman, a Cranial Sacral Therapist and he is also a Teacher. He is sharing his knowledge and his gifts through the classes and curriculum he created when he started the Sacred Journey Institute. I think if you are new to Don you would want to know or be assured that he is not only knowledgeable and insightful but has an attitude and demeanor that puts you right at ease. I would say Don's approach is very welcoming, compassionate, and empathetic, which is critical when discussing very personal and sometimes challenging issues. I think anyone who has met Don would say his energy is on a level that is not normal/typical. His knowledge is incredibly vast and informative. Don is always present, articulate, wise, and the most intuitive person you will ever meet. People will often throw around the phrase "holding space" for someone. Don is the quintessential person of holding space, and his Sacred Journey Institute has taught many others how to do what he does. Years ago, before seeing Don I had no clue what holding space meant, nor was I familiar with "inner work" and so much more. I can giggle at my naivete, and how ignorant I was with just about everything. And I still have a lot to learn. The sacred holding space that Don creates allows him the ability to do deep healing. What can you expect when you book a session? You may very well have one of the most powerful healing sessions you've experienced. Don has the ability to meet you where you are. And he has the uncanny ability to know exactly where you are at and he won't push. After a session I literally feel lighter. I am kinder, I am way more relaxed, and I've noticed any anger and other icky feelings I may have had are no longer with me. If you are seeking better physical health, healing, clarity or personal growth then these are all areas he can help you with. I should also mention that Don does remote work, and this was pre-covid. When he originally mentioned doing remote work on someone, I was so naïve - I had no clue he could heal and tap into someone's conscious without being in the same room with them. So, if you do not live in Illinois fear not, Don can conduct a remote healing session. Lastly, I want to mention that I've had the pleasure of referring a few, what some people would say are "high profile" families. Don like a true medical professional is discreet, respects privacy and confidentiality. I encourage anyone new to try a therapeutic massage or cranial sacral session, you will know almost immediately whether he is a good fit for you. For me, I have profound respect and deep admiration for the life changing work Don is doing at Beyond Wellness. I am beyond grateful for his healing and highly recommend booking a healing session. read more

The warmest, most intentional work you'll ever receive. Highly recommend Ania for a profound cranial sacral session or massage.

This is the premiere wellness center in the Midwest. Why? Because its brilliant visionary founder Don Massat, the "city shaman," has advanced both massage and cranial sacral therapy to entirely new energetic levels with Sacred Journey Massage and Sacred Journey cranial sacral therapy, as well as offering several powerful new healing modalities--Miasm Release Therapy, Vibrational Healing, among others for those who suffer from chronic physical conditions as well as emotional and mental ones that are not being successfully treated by pharmaceuticals and invasive approaches such as chemotherapy in the medical model: anxiety, depression, cancer, ADHD. Massat studied at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California, under the great intuitive cranial sacral therapist Hugh Milne as well as John Upledger; he has gone on to advance both men's remarkable work into a new realm of spiritual light working that goes far beyond the gentle palpating of bones in a light trance. I am a Stage 4 tonsillar cancer survivor--I did chemo, radio therapy and had an operation back in 2006-- who recently suffered from a terrible pain in my larynx that rendered me hoarse and which required constant pain management with meds for an entire school year. Don worked on me personally during many hour and a quarter sessions, not only targeting the throat area but also addressing my deeper emotional issues from which this condition (and others, such as my herniated disc, my acid refux disease) arose. In just a few months not only did the pain spontaneously disappear, but the Ear Nose Throat specialist who performed a laryngoscopy and looked at my X Rays and CAT scan indicated that I had had some kind of growth that has simply dwindled away, leaving nothing but a red abrased area on my vocal cord. For me, the work that Massat and his staff of light worker therapists--whom he has taught and certificated in a 10 level shamanic cranial sacral therapy course as well as Sacred Journey and Esalen Massage at the Sacred Journey Institute in the same building on Harlem Avenue--perform on their clients verges on the miraculous. They are friendly and caring and always spend a great deal of time listening to their clients and carefully assessing their overall physical and emotional issues in a holistic, intuitive manner. Don Massat, his talented therapist wife Ania and daughter Dana and other therapists always work in a state of unconditional love. I am an educator and playwright with a strong scientific/empirical background, I pride myself on keeping current with the latest cognitive and health-related literature, and have been a bit of a skeptic about alternative approaches my entire life. When I lived in San Francisco I tried acupuncture, structural integration, deep massage, and even sought out chiropractors, but I always felt like I was receiving a short term fix, a mild adjustment. I must also add that I still retain faith in doctors, nurses and medical treatments if I need them. All that being said, I must say that I have changed my belief system and views about mind, body, and spirit radically since I came to Beyond Wellness back in July, 2013. "The proof of the pudding is in the eating," after all, so I must report that I feel dramatically healthier now that I have been visiting Beyond Wellness for a year and working with Don Massat. I have been releasing and clearing defense mechanisms and traumas I suppressed first with drugs and alcohol when I was young, and then could not get to later even though I tried mightily with psychosynthesis therapy, 12 Step meetings, yoga, meditation, and a quarter century of light and sound brainwave entrainment devices. If this sounds like a conversion experience to alternative healing as well as an unqualified endorsement, in a sense it is! Don Massat and his light worker therapists have been teaching me profound truths about the relationship between my core emotions and my physical ailments, as well through the Sacred Journey session facilitating my own self-healing system to activate in ways I still can't fathom, try as I might with my own knowledge of diet, exercise, stress, neuroanatomy and human biology. The Beyond Wellness center, together with the Sacred Journey Institute, in Tinley Park is unquestionably the leading edge of alternative healing in the Chicagoland area. I believe it is the Esalen of the Midwest for human evolution development through energy work, as well as for advanced massage techniques such as Sacred Journey and Esalen massage. I believe I can make that claim since as a native Californian I have been to Esalen for intensive bodywork. Beyond Wellness lacks a 500 foot cliff, and a striking view of sunrises and sunsets over the Pacific, but that's about it. Don Massat, by fusing ancient shamanic practices with modern osteopathic techniques, has made himself and his Beyond Wellness center the future of cranial sacral therapy, and beyond. read more

I had a cranial sacral session with Jason yesterday. He has a very gentle approach, but very deep and profound. Thank you!

I recommend this place to everyone I know. I have been going for years because quite simply, it's the best around. I have had different therapists and they are all very strong and capable of giving a great massage. I always feel like I've done something good for my body when I leave there. It's not just relaxing, but very therapeutic. They do cranial-sacral as well as traditional swedish/deep tissue massage. Highly recommend it, and I consider myself a spa connoisseur. read more
