I am staying just around the corner from the salon and wanted a pedicure. The service was very good and the staff are lovely. My Spanish is limited but we all managed to communicate. I was offered beverages (an excellent coffee) and even served some dessert one of the employees had brought. I found the treatment was very well done; a great deal of attention to removing dead skin, calluses, etc. Lots of moisturizing. A week later my feet still feel "just done". The salon is spotlessly clean, too. I would go back (may pop in for a manicure before I head home...) and definitely would recommend this salon. read more

I went there for them to do my granddaughter hair and mines. First at all the person washing my hair just wet it and put a little of shampoo and did not even touch my head sick with fingers. It was more like a rinse thing. Then the person that was going to dry my hair. I told her that I wanted my hair with curl. She started making some curls without even drying the roots of my hair, meaning my entire scalp was wet and the hair underneath was already wavy. I asked her if she was going to leave my entire scalp wet and that's when she started drying it from the inside out. Just to wash and dry my head and my hair is shoulder length, they charged me $70 dollars which I found to be a very high price. I do not recommend this place at all, especially because they do not provide good service and also the price. read more

I have tried being a regular here with my nails. I just moved to SJ and was trying to find a nail salon. I've lived in Polanco CDMX and Santa Monica CA and was always treated respectfully. Not here. The first time I came in, the gel nails literally came off that night. The owner was nice enough to handle the issue and I came back a few days later to get my nails redone. The second time I came, (well technically third), the nail tech was not pleased with my nails. Although the work isn't the greatest, and the price is extremely expensive, I liked the cleanliness and I felt fine going there. Until I scheduled for my third appointment and they completely booked my reservation. It was as if my appointment never existed. They did nothing to accommodate me. I've had absolutely horrendous experiences in the past that left me with orange streaks and patches. But my hair needed to be done and I was desperate. Throughout my entire time there they made sure to check on me and even offer me water, coffee, tea and wine. My stylist, Gio Perotti, was phenomenal! He listened to my concerns and made sure he knew what I was going for. He also advised me on what would look best for my skin tone and facial structure. My hair was growing fast and The sun was bleaching my hair out and my roots were showing a lot! The best part is that my hair looks amazing and I LOVED my pedicure. Disappointing! I had such high hopes for this salon, I really really did. After reading all of the positive reviews I was sure I had found my place in PR to get my hair colored and cut. Just going to leave the facts here, so others can develop their own opinions. - spent 30 minutes going over the picture of what I wanted my hair to look like. (Sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes if gives you the feeling that the hair stylist is nervous) I was hopeful.. - dry cut my hair, was interesting .. and different .. in my mind.. I'm like.. just roll with it. - starts with the foils.. they slowly start sliding out of my hair.. literally the last thing you want to happen when you are getting your hair colored.. as it makes the color bleed down your hair lines.. - Washes back of my head, while foils are still around my face.. ok I get it.. this is kinda expected - stands up, foils around my face slide off.. hair dye all over the right side of my face and all over my hands from trying to catch it. - Takes the rest of the foils out, maybe five minutes later.. and asks if I want my hair deep conditioned? - Asks if I want my hair blow dried, are you kidding me.. ?? Ahhh yes please - I like the color, not exactly like the pictures I showed for 30 minutes, but I like it. The cut is basic. Totally ok. - I said, yeah, I like my hair.. can you get the black off of my face?? She said yeah, proceeds to scrub my face with alcohol, and says I should have told her my skin attaches to hair dye??? WHat???? Now, here is the icing on the cake. I go to pay.. $278!!!!! For a basic hair cut, "reverse balayage" is what she called it, and my hair dried... and A nice black stain all over my face and hands.. and Not even blowout.. When I asked why it was so much I was told, it's just because of this area.. Are you kidding me.. I'm from CA, I've had my hair done in NY, SF, LA .. and this is not what a $278 experience is like. I was super pleased with the quality of my service, Debby did a fantastic job and my hands & nails look great. Based on my manicure experience, I scheduled a shampoo/blow dry/flat iron for a few days later. Lyann was very nice, friendly but not overly chatty and again, I was wowed by her skills. Let me just start by saying hat I have never ever felt so much genuine care and professionalism in a salon such as this one. I had called early morning to set up an appointment for a hair cut. I had the pleasure of speaking to Hector and he heard me patiently I explain I had a horrible experience in February where I decided to color my virgin hair and they over process the hair to the point it was falling in patches , it ruined the texture, I hated the color well pretty much I left with a broken spirit and been wearing my hair in a bun since February. His was so kind he recommended to come on by he ask me specific question to guide to the right stylist. He recommended Luis. Let me also say I was only In Puerto Rico for 30 hours for my layover. Once I arrived at first I was very hesitant but they immediately knew who I was when i walked in. The area of this hotel is very high end and most of the time salons have this "fake fabulous attitude " not at all on this place . I met Luis within seconds, he sat me down heard all my concerns and proceeded to see my hair, took his time to analyzes and without any hold back told me my options and what we can do. I felt so secure and confident he was gonna do an amazing job. He didn't overwhelm me with I formation, terms, lingo he knew exactly how to express the plan. I wasn't there more than and hour and half In total. Based on the pictures I showed him he also took time to get proper demmi color for my hair. He has so much passion, care. For what he does. I just feel blessed to have met him. When I saw the final results I just cried. He brought my confidence back on my hair. I felt lifted. I just can't explain. I just love it. Once I went to pay my service , here comes the manager which at this moment I can't remember his name (I am so sorry) but wow he was the cherry on top. Usually they always try to push some products at the end to complete the look or boost the sale but he asked how was my experience. When he asked me what I did for a living . He was surprise that I was a flight attendant and said I have the perfect kit for you. He brought this travel kit that had a 4 step system and what it would do to my hair. He took a moment and looked at Hector and said you know what this is gonna be our gift to you. Hopefully from this experience on it would be a better one from your last . The salon is decorated beautifully, everything about the place has a warm and inviting vibe. I did ask the concierge if that was the correct method w the spray and I was told yes. Most recently I had a treatment done in Maryland where it was painted on, so I guess you just did clarify that I've gotten screwed over. I have nothing but great things to say about Beyond Salon! First of all, I was nervous because 1) I speak almost no Spanish and 2) I was ready for a "big chop" aka, I wanted to cut ten inches off my waist-length hair. My hair is very thick/coarse and like a security blanket for me so I'm always nervous when I try a new salon! I was able to get a same-day appointment by calling the salon. I was quickly set up for an appointment with Luis. Everyone was so sweet and addressed me by name as soon as I walked in. My lack of Spanish was not a problem whatsoever. My appointment was right on time and Luis came to get me to talk about my hair. I showed him a couple of pictures from Instagram and we were off. He first matched my current color perfectly and fixed my roots. After the color we reviewed exactly what I wanted and he did an excellent job cutting the bob hairstyle that I had chosen. He was very meticulous and asked me questions the whole way, making sure I liked what he was doing. He finished with a blowout and curls....I LOVE my new hair!
