When I think of Primark I think of big queues, big crowds, modern stores and cheap clothes but also…read moreclothes on the lower-quality side, mainly down to the price with Primark basically being a clothing version of ALDI. Located on Church Street, it is basically right bang in the heart of the One and the centre of Liverpool so the location here is really good, the store is quite large and is in an old building so is nowhere near as modern on the outside, or even the inside as other Primark stores I have visited including stores in Gateshead, Cardiff, Newcastle and Amsterdam, most of which I have visited in the past and awarded a three-star rating to. A lack of renovation could let the store down more than ever now, following H&M locating into the old BHS unit, with a more modern store as the retailer is similar to Primark so action is needed soon. This branch of Primark in a way reminds me of Southport's store, inside it isn't too impressive or modern - which is a shame and it contradicts what you would expect considering Liverpool is a big city, the second biggest in north-west England. I didn't like this store, not just because of the poor overall feel but it just was really untidy, I lost count of clothes on the floor before even getting to the men's section (the ladies section os on the ground floor), and by the looks of things, it looked like it had been that way for a while and staff were unbothered by it, and not doing anything to change it, making it an unsatisfactory and unpleasant place to shop overall. An untidy, uninspiring store which even lets Primark down, if you compare this to other branches of Primark including those in Gateshead and Amsterdam, which I did like, it looks like a completely different store, mainly down to the overall feel, staff and cleanliness of a store, this isn't a store I can reccomend or justify anything over a one-star rating for on this occasion.

Every time I walk into Primark, the store is packed with customers the majority of time which…read moresuggests its popularity. It does tend to attract a lot of students and for those who love a bargain, this is the place to shop. Quality of clothing can be unpredictible but it all depends. If you're fortunate, you may find a garment to last you more than a few years. The store itself is plentiful, serving 5 floors which has something to suit everybody. There is even a homeware section on the top tier. Primark is a shop which you'll either love or hate, and I love it!

It is one of the most visited multi-use attractions in the country outside of London, and the collection of buildings (docks, warehouses) is the largest single collection of Grade I listed buildings anywhere in the UK. It can be a nice, relaxing place to have a walk around, getting away from the busy main parts of the city. I do think it could be laid out better with some signage and notes to the historic past, but I do understand there are some limitations in making changes due to the listed building status. 4* - A pretty cool and historic part of Liverpool city centre

Here is some history about the docks - "Liverpool's docks dominated global trade by the early 19th century. When it opened in 1846, Albert Dock changed the way the docks worked here forever. Its warehouses were fireproof and secure; traders could do deals before their import taxes were due; hydraulic cranes hauled heavy cargoes across the flagstones. The speed with which ships unloaded and turned around was cut in half." Definitely a worthy and must see stop when you visit Liverpool.

It hasn't changed a lot since over a decade ago; its layout remains the same and has similar shops that would attract those on a budget since it has many bargain stores. In terms of class, it is certainly not upmarket and not the most attractive of Shopping Centres but it is okay for a day out. They have a lower and upper mall operated by lifts/escalators. It is easy to get lost on a first visit but it is also easy to walk around in circles! It is a good place to buy basic items for the home as they have a variety of discount stores like B and M, Poundworld and Poundstretcher. The mall could do with air conditioning as it is often warm inside. It is spacious enough though and has plenty of room to manoeuvre wheelchairs and pushchairs.

There are a reported 130 shops in the Strand, and they are pretty good, probably better namewise than St John's precinct in Liverpool, with Marks and Spencers, Boots, Thorntons, WH Smith, Superdrug, New Look, Clinton's, mobile phone shops, pet shops, clothes shops and innumerable discount stores, such as Wilkinsons, Poundland and B&M. There are few restaurants or cafes, at least none that really appeal, perhaps why I consider the Strand a dash around sort of shop; get in get out. There are good parking facilities, which is really reasonably priced.

St. John's Shopping Centre certainly isn't bad for a secondary shopping centre within a city,…read morelocated opposite Lime Street Station, serving Liverpool city centre, I can't help but notice the mall does appear a bit run down now, with many vacant empty units, which have moved across to Liverpool One or closed down completely. Stores located here include Aldi, Argos, JD Sports and Wilko. There are also a couple of smaller stores, pound shops and Supercuts. For food and beverages, there is a small food court area including Dunkin Donuts, Subway and McDonald's. It's pretty easy to get around the mall, as it never seems to be too busy and there is a lot of open space, obviously, the reduced number of stores makes somewhere I'd say to only visit if you're looking to visit a specific store, or if you have some time to kill ahead of getting a train from the station across the way, or even if you're shielding from the cold/rain with the larger Liverpool One being mostly outdoors. 3*

It has a 420 seat food court on the lower mall with a wide choice of food retailers including KFC, McDonald's and Subway. The mall itself is situated opposite Lime Street station and adjacent to Central station and Queen Square station, therefore there's no way you can miss it! If you're going in to town, it's almost inevitable that you're going to walk past or go through this mall so make sure you check it out as there's cheap, mid-range and expensive stores to discover.
