Horrible customer service at this location. Of the four visits ever here, two have involved orders and two were bad experiences. One is them saying the order was not ready when items are sitting right there on the counter. The second was today. Their website didn't say you must have your credit card with you to retrieve your order. I've just walked 20 minutes to the store and they're saying I have to walk back 20 minutes to get the card and then back 20 minutes to the store and then back 20 minutes to where I came from. Not going to happen. They didn't even try to make it right, so they just lost a good customer. read more

Never been to a BevMo! But it was like being in an EPIC candy store, except for endless alcohol for cheap and snacks to go with it. It's pretty dark at night, not in a well light area minus the christmas lights at jack london. They do have a parking lot, which is efficient because it sucks when you got to go and there isn't parking! Considering the area the store is in, it's well light, like an oversized light bulb, with clear windows and wine and spirits and goodies just lined up against the windows for every passer byer to see! I love it. The door's location is trolling. Fell for three tucked in windows before I found the real entrance to the actual store. Was greeted by a staff that handed us a holiday special discount of wines, but we we're looking for something specific. It was the moscato Stella Rose that was going to top off the night. But looking around, they had everything! I don't even know where to explain but they stay open late and it's well-light. Can't keep emphasing on how important that aspect it is to me. I absolutely love the staff. Well-trained to know where items are, helpful and friendly and moves quickly. BevMo! has a dinky selection of cheeses and meats and crackers, but I'm not complaining. It's not what they're supposed to be selling. They do have non alcoholic berverages as well as your chaser OJ, but for 6 dollars, I think I'll just make an extra trip to the super market. After a long morning of shopping for supplies for my own birthday party, I was beat by the time I got to BevMo. I had saved it for last (after Trader Joe's and Safeway) because I figured they'd have the best deals on alcohol and related goods. WRONG. Everything I needed was more expensive than it was at Trader Joe's. The exact same bottles of alcohol were anywhere from $1 to $5 cheaper at TJs. I was pissed, especially because a jar of maraschino cherries ($2.49 at TJs and $3.49 at Safeway) was $5.50 at BevMo. Don't get me started on the plastic cup prices. I am sticking to my beloved TJs from now on. read more

I'm not quite sure what to write that will offer anything new. Its a BevMo. It has alcohol, wine, beer, mixers, assorted minis, and party snacks. There is a parking lot adjacent to the store which will allow you to park there while you shop, don't take longer than an hour. If you are walking to the store be careful not to get hit by Amtrak. The staff is helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. read more

Another great Bevmo. Bevmo's tend to have 90% of the same things so if you found something at a Bevmo in Fremont you can probably find the same in Oakland. This one is not far from the freeway and they DO have a parking lot. One of the issues of Jack London Square is the parking, this place has a lot across the street. Only complaint i have is the always changing 'sale' price of my go to bottle of booze of choice. One week its $26.99, next its $28.99 and the week after that $29.99. Oh, i love me some bevmo! I wouldn't say their staff is super great on wine recommendations but i should be going to a local shop if I have that's what I'm looking for. Bevmo excels in the areas of quick service and a large variety of, well beverages (hence the name). I'm also happy they carry my new favorite natural tonic water, fever-tree. Because if you are an avid (um ok, freakish) ingredient label reader like me you know that regular tonic has high fructose corn syrup in it. And that's just nasty and wrong. read more

Yes, this is the worst Bev Mo known to man. Not only do they specialize in playing piped in horrible untalented hag latest thing band singers with off tune pay to play type music, the type that could make the folks in Guantanamo Bay detention center all sign confessions on the dotted line ASAP, the darn concrete warehouse is a giant thermal heat sink. The place bakes the bottles at a constant 80 degrees or much worse. Any products not placed in the cooler are aged dated about a decade in advance. That branch of BEV Mo is a disgrace. I like BevMo and enjoy going to BevMo for my adult-beverage needs, but I don't like bad customer service. I don't know why, but every time I come to this location, my cashier transactions are memorable in a way they shouldn't be. Most recently, I went and during my transaction, the cashier asked me for my ID, looked at it and then goes "What happened?!". (I took my ID picture at 20 and was about 50 pounds heavier. I'm now 25 and a lot slimmed down.) Continuing, she looked at me and back down at my ID about twice and then proceeded to say "Good work, I guess." I don't need your input on my weight loss...I just need you to charge me out for the six bottles of champagne. VERY rude. I'll stick to the Emeryville location from now on. read more

Whenever I want to drink with my wife, we visit Bevmo, as it always seems to have just what we are looking for to enjoy our night at home. My wife and I come here at least once a week to buy craft beers, many of which are locally brewed throughout the bay. We started coming here to find beers made by one of our favorite breweries; 21st Amendment, brewers of one of the tastiest beers around; Hell or High Watermelon. Uh, it's TWO miles away from me, if not this one, which one?!? So I took the bet.* I come here to stock up on Wyder's Pear Cider, and if I'm giving gifts, Hpnotiq (is that how you spell it?!), and if I'm baking, they sell these wonderful little bottles of Kahlua, Baileys Irish Cream, Creme de Menthe, etc, so you dont hafta get a whole big bottle and never use it again....when the recipe calls for like a teaspoon of liquer -__- Now I know. AND they have great sales, and great selection of sodas and snacks and stuff. *I feel inclined to tell you...girls don't make bets unless they are 99.99% sure. Be sure to go here during the "buy one get one for 5 cents" sale. We stocked up on over ten bottles of wine and went back for more. IIt feels a bit like Costco, yes, but with better lighting and a concentrated focus on boozing. I like the Jack London store because it's never as busy as the one on San Pablo just past Berkeley (apparantly, frat boys from Cal don't venture into Oakland, which is just fine with me). One extra star for having helpful reviews taped onto the cardboard crates of wines and for carrying some delicious, hard-to-find beers like Rasputin stout. You can stock up for a New Year's party in about ten minutes here. Also a nice place to score some last-minute holiday or birthday gifts- mini-liquor bottles with a set of martini glasses or fancy cheeses and a new flask, anyone? read more

I'm not a very frugal shopper in most scenarios, but when it comes to planning a party or a BBQ and wanting to maximize my spending dollars, I know I can always count on BevMo for great food and drink, at amazing prices. I recently had a BBQ with some friends, and everyone chipped in their pennies and I went on a run for some much needed items. I had already shopped around in stores and online, and BevMo was as cheap or cheaper than places like Safeway, Lucky's, FoodMaxx and even Costco. Everything is easy to find, as all the alcohols are separated section by section on what type of alcohol they are. All of the beer is in one location, as are all of the high end liquors, wines and champagnes. Then there is en entire section dedicated to snack foods and h'orderves. The staff here is always super friendly, and they know the store like the back of their hand. I've been in here multiple times knowing exactly what I want or need, and I can easily ask the clerk and be taken directly to it, check out and be on my way in less than five minutes. I definitely recommend this BevMo! to anyone looking for great service and great deals! read more

LOVE bevmo. decent prices, decent selection, great online ordering and inventory checking. this bevmo also has a selection of cheeses and some frozen appetizer options. great for locating imported beers from europe and some californian wines. suggestions for bevmo if you're listening/reading : the tastings are a good idea but please staff with a knowledgeable employee. the metal bullpens are kind of odd, too. also, in addition to beer & wine tastings, maybe offer a mixed drinks/cocktail tasting. would be very helpful for those of us who are curious to try something without spending $20 on a bottle or some of us who manage to find one kind of cocktail to make with a liqueur, then want to try something new. read more

This place is amazing! I work on top of it so I frequent it. My desk is full of snacks like Pretzels stuffed with peanut butter(I'm at my desk eating some now!), chocolate coffee yummies and so on. I can easily grab a 24oz beer after work for my walk home or my walk to a bar. The staff isn't always all smiles but who cares, their job isn't to be my friend. One thing I will say sucks about this place is their rock hard buns of steel sandwiches! Don't bother, walk to Rattos. read more

They have a wide selection of local craft beers, weird international selections, and good old standbys. I find that place to be always helpful and in good humor, as are the other clientele. I went to the store on Embarcadero in Oakland, CA today to do a curbside pick up for my husband. After waiting outside for 20+ minutes I decided to go into the store. After waiting several minutes I flagged down a worker and asked if she could call someone to the pick up counter. After waiting another 20 minutes the same worker approaches and I ask her if she could give me my order. With a nasty tone she responds you gotta wait and proceeds to try to assist someone who was standing next to me waiting for cigars. The gentleman tells her to help me first because I was there before him. She threw her hands up and looks at him with a confused look on her face. I asked her why she's looking confused because I approached her when I first arrived in the store so she knows I was here first. She raised her voice saying I know and I called someone to help you, there's only two of us and if you have a problem maybe you should come work here and help out. I was so appalled by the lack of professionalism and terrible customer service. I was on the phone with my husband at the time and as I said to him to cancel the order I will not give that store my business she yells yeah do that. The scene was so disturbing as I walked out of the the gentleman who was waiting for cigars walked out behind me. My husband regularly frequents that store and after today we will never shop there again. read more

Horrible service. Ordered online for pick up. Got there, checked in like I was supposed to for a non contact hand off. They never came out, went in to check on my order with the cashier lady. She said she was going to have someone check. Still nothing. Asked another lady, she said she never got the notification showing me her phone to prove it. I showed her my phone that literally says "checked in" but she just kept insisting that "well we never got the notification" with an attitude. The extra star is for all the alcohol...but I just soooo wasn't impressed. I was immediately annoyed in the parking lot, (25 stalls and all were taken) but I got over it. I went in to the store to scope. I needed a big ass bottle of Jager, a big ass bottle of Grand Mariner, lot's o' beer,(Bachelor party in Tahoe tomorrow...not mine), and a cooler. Once the scope was complete and I made that assesment that I was in what felt like a Goodwill of booze, I went back outside to get a cart. The cart rack had two carts...totally stuck together. I pulled and pushed and shook and looked and laughed and gave up. I walked back to the parking lot (across the street) and grabbed a straggler-cart. Back in the store, I found all what I needed...except for the cooler. I figured that the "More" meant things like coolers...and not cheese. I was wrong. There was a keg-erator, but no cooler. There wasn't much of a discount...I spent $200 and the most exciting part was leaving. I just wanted out. I filled out a membership card...I'm not sure why. I like beer. read more

They have a good selection here. Not as big as the BevMo in Albany, but it's good that its here in the middle of Jack London where things can get ratchet. Due to the many condos in this area, it houses a lot of people, so a good liquor store nearby is a total plus for the residence here. The private parking makes this place even better because parking is difficult here! read more

People know about BevMo. And what they deliver. The Oakland one is down by Jack London Square, and it's kinda creepy at night. But they do have their own parking lot (and they're monstrous if you're parking there and not a customer) right next door. I do like the fact that it's one-stop party shopping. It has a good selection of cheeses, crackers, chocolate thingies, stuff you might want to munch on. Good prices on hard stuff, but not as good as Costco. But they have more variety, that's for sure. Their wine selection is getting better but not quite there yet; Safeway is just as good. And there is no one to help you if you need some help selecting a wine. I bought some cigars there for a friend one year. The guy opened the cases for me but he knew nada about cigars. But then again, neither did I. read more

This is one of the best bevmo locations in all of the bay area. The staff is very friendly here, as soon as you walk through the door, you are greeted with a "welcome to bevmo". The staff knows a lot about what they have on hand, and Luis definitely has to be one of the best employees that they have. The selection here is just amazing, they have everything that you could ever imagine, and though I drink a little of everything that they have here, I constantly return to their beer section regularly. They have beer from all around the world, but I always come here for the local craft brews, they always have new releases in stock. --great selection --poor poor customer service --I needed a couple of kegs for my wedding and BevMo gave me nothing but the run-around. My only request was 2 local breweries (not Bud, etc.). If you look around the Bay Area/Nor Cal, there's plenty of great breweries and I gave BevMo a list of about a dozen a month in advance. They kept promising to look into them and call me. They repeatedly failed to call me on the days they promised they would have information. When I stopped by the store to follow up, the manager got annoyed with me. Without making much of an effort to listen to my questions, he just kept repeating, "don't call us, we'll call you." BevMo can get busy, but the place was empty on this day. read more

it's like I know what I want when headed over there, but gosh darn it, every.single.time. I go I wind up spending at least an hour...just looking, and thinking. But why when I already knew when driving over, I just wanted to get some vodka, and maybe a mixer. So why are you over in the wine selection, when you know damn well you know nothing when it comes to wine, and why are you look at dark liquor, you know you don't do that at all what so ever. I started drinking bourbon because of Glenn Close in DAMAGES. I've admired her in that role as a calm, crazy, cool, hottie, collected, and scattered at times when her emotions got the best of her....so she has her bourbon to ease her nerves during the day & for dinner a glass of red wine. I am not a big #1 STAR reviewer but I have to say this experience sucked. Well thanks to BEVMO for inspiring me to write the review that follows. In all prices are mediocre, service was odd and if your are a worker at BEVMO and you are going to bring up one item because it is locked have the courtesy to bring up the other...it just 2nd grade basics of courtesy. Pro: 1. Free Parking Lot 2. Lots of Variety Con: 1. No Bathrooms . 2. Luis assisted me and laughs at various inappropriate moments and I think he was high. When I asked the checkout lady about him she stated "oh, he is interesting". Well tell you what I'm not interested in his levity. 3. Packaged all beverages in the same bag? I mean even the mini beverages with all the glass clacking together as I carried the bag out. Every other BEVMO I've been to has been better. Most likely if i ever go to a BEVMO again I will go to the one on San Pablo Ave. I was there years ago and still remember how nice and knowledgeable the team was there. read more
