If I can't find what I am looking for at Cost Plus World Market's wine and beverage sections, then the option is coming to BevMo, which is catty corner from Cost Plus. My husband and I were fortunate to find a handicap parking spot in the lot across the street the other evening. We stopped in to browse at the assortment of alcohol beverages - wines, beers, ales, etc.; snacks, cheeses, candies and even Madeleine cookies. First thing we grabbed were two bags of Angie's Popcorn and then he was looking for something from the ales section (Samuel Adams? Sierra?), only ending up getting a bottle of Corona beer. Me - I was looking at the different flavors of Kahlua and spotted a bottle of alcoholic beverage called...Kinky...oh, my...LOL (photos). First thought...the movie Kinky Boots...the red (red represents sex) thigh high stilleto boots that Lola (part played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) was wearing on the catwalk. Then, my other thought was sure I can have a Kinky drink to get the kinks out of my knees, my hips and my back...more LOL. The wine gift sets were fab, too...they always make a great gift and/or door prize for those special occasions. The only drawback I don't like about this location - it's right next to the railroad track (Amtrak). Chug-a-chug-choo-choo...rumble, rumble, rumble...ugh...sound travels for a long distance. Despite this noise and distraction, I will be back to BevMo to do more browsing and shopping. read more

One of the bigger Bevmos I've been to. And I would normally get deterred coming here since it is, after all, located within the vicinities of Jack London square. My first thought was parking was going to be an issue - especially being it NYE. Nope. They have their own parking lot right across the street. It was surprisingly empty with 4 hours to go prior to ringin' in the new year. I expected a mess given the occasion, but nope... everything (EVERYTHING!) was stacked and organized very neatly. Hubbers was able to find whatever he needed immediately. Needless to say, we were outta there much faster than anticipated. Gotta keep them on my radar next time I happen to be around and in need for a beer/liquor run! read more

I just got out of Bevmo. This was by far the best experience at Bevmo. All the crazy things happening with Covid-19. These people deserve a raise and recognition. Cadijah was my cashier and was just lovely. She made my day. Nathan was patient with me and knowledgeable. I've been to other Bevmos and they usually never actively find me the bottle I need. He actually went all the way into the back and grabbed me the 1942 Tequila bottle. Michael is the best front service man. He made sure the carts were cleaned and was overall friendly. I will return for sure. Parking wasn't bad and I love the Bevmo 5 cents deal. read more

I was craving a margarita and needed tequila badly. I ordered Espolón blanco tequila and Cointreau. When I parked my car, there was a long line, but it moved quickly. I stayed at most for 10-ish minutes. When I picked up my order, they told me that they ran out of Espolón and replaced it with another bottle with a similar price range. I wasn't feeling the bottle they chose for me, so they allowed me in the store to select on their shelves and refunded me for the other bottle. The employee who took me in the store took his time explaining the different tequila options they had left. I will definitely come back! Hoping they have more tequila options when I order again. read more

I placed an online order for a small (3 cases wine, 1 case beer, 1 case cider) event 3 weeks in advance , took just a couple of days for an employee to get back to me, we worked out an order after a couple of days. Guy responded for a few days, then we hit the holiday week. and he disappeared. No phone number to call. Just totally ghosted me. I emailed patiently waiting till after new years, but event was Jan 6, and as of Jan 3 they STILL hadn't responded. I tried to place a new order from the start to get someone to respond, and ended up just going to Costco for my alcohol because NO ONE ever responded all week long. Now we are a day past the event and I still. haven't heard from anyone. Total fail from BevMo. read more

My fave So, this is the Bevmo I prefer...wish the one @ bayfair was more like this one. Ive been coming here for many years and have never had a problem with finding what I was looking for and have even found many new things I now have a liking for. The employees at this location have always been so nice and helpful. They seem to have everything from, beer, liquor,wine, champagne, a great selection of cheeses and crackers, collectibles, and many things to snack on. I will remain a happy customer of this location. I only come to BevMo when i have a coupon for $10 off a certain amount. The parking lot is fairly small but i always find a spot. The selections are wide. You're more likely to find what you need. But i suggest going before holidays to avoid the rush. read more

I guess it is hard to find good employees but this place is a mess. Security guard stares at his phone. Shopping carts are MIA because the homeless steal them. The ONE casher with the sense of urgency of a sloth rings up the 20 person deep line on Mother's day at 3:30pm. He grunts "hello" after I greet him and appears to be quite tortured by his job. This is one of my favorite BevMo stores around - they have fantastic selection, loads of parking and it's so close to other JLS errands/activities like Cost Plus, Bed Bath & Beyond or just going to Yoshi's for a show or dinner at Souley Vegan. During the Eat Real festival, this was the place to go for cold beverages at reasonable prices - and you can get cash back from the cash register, too - so the heck with those lines at Big Evil Bank. I go to BevMo consistently. Specifically, on Saturday (10-30-21) the cashier (an older lady with glasses), who was sitting on a stool took my order. Every time she has checked me out on different occasions, she has made multiple rude remarks towards me. I just assumed she was having a bad day, but her disrespect and rude remarks are consistent when I have interactions with her when I shop at BevMo. On 10-30-21, I showed this cashier my ID, and she mockingly looked at it and said "really!" She has done this on multiple occasions. After she said this, her and another cashier exchanged some jokes about my age and asked me to pull my mask down. In the past, when this cashier was extremely rude and felt that she could disrespect me, because of how I look, I simply would pull down my mask to confirm it was me and I was not attempting to do anything conniving. However, once I would do this, she would continually insult me. Every time I have an interaction with her I have to give her a lesson on basic customer and human respect, which has been multiple times. So, on 10-31-21 between 7pm - 9pm, she made another rude remark about me to her coworker when I willingly showed her my ID and asked me to pull my mask down, again. Knowing that she was disrespecting me, I informed her that COVID is serious and I didn't want to pull down my mask. I'm not risking the health of others, because she wants to be rude and have a laugh for the day. She then made a rude remark under her breath and was condescending towards me through the entire transaction. I then had to inform her that she was consistently rude towards me. I also had to inform her that if she wanted respect, she must give it, which is important in customer service. She then brushed me off with a cold shoulder, and made the transaction frustrating. I don't like when employees are extremely disrespectful and want to taunt customers, because of stuff I can't control. However, if I am a customer I want to be treated with respect and I will follow up with management about her consistently rude behavior. BevMo does have good selections and the other employees are cool and respectfully. read more

Great service! Real friendly & helpful team of guys and gals who work here. Am fairly sure I stood out from the average Shopper Jane as I wandered into here on Saturday afternoon. Our team has been racing hard on Oakland Inner Harbour and I was, by this hot afternoon, covered in sweat, salt water and looking pretty frazzled under my Sporty Spice shades. I came in search of beer and champagne for the team - the guys helped me pick a beer (nothing mainstream), and pointed me to the accessories I needed (cups, opener). I walked up to the booth that had the "mobile order pickup " sign above it and said hello to the woman sitting there looking at a computer. She didn't even look at me or say anything. I then told her I'm here to pick up my mobile order and still she wouldn't answer or look up at me I asked her well if your too involved in what your looking at is there someone else I can get help from and again this rude thing would not even look up. My company buys a lot from bevmo but I will never buy one more thing from them. This location always has a solid selection & it's right by the Jack London Ferry! Usually have good deals but sometimes the register rings them up full price instead. Make sure you keep an eye out for that! The staff is great & willing to fix it, but you'll have to catch it first. read more

While I'm not the biggest fan of BevMo this one is better than most. Great selection of beer in the refrigerated section. Nice selection of small shots up front. Staff can be a little hard to find sometimes, except at registers, so getting a question answered can take a minute. Very little street parking, and just a pay parking garage attached. Park in the lot of one of the businesses across the street for shopping here. Whenever there's a punk show in downtown Oakland this is were we get our booze to down before the show! I love BevMo. It's like a toy store for adults. As soon as you walk in your a kid again. The staff greet you when you walk in and ask if you need help finding anything. What I also like is when you're in an isle browsing. Any staff walking by will ask if you need help. I always know what I want and where to find it but I love browsing their wine & liquor. What should take me less than 5 minutes takes me about 30 minutes or more. I don't mind. I enjoy my time at BevMo. You'll find everything you want and need. Parking is across the street. BevMo Oakland - you are a lifesaver! I was on my way to a dinner party and realized half-way there that I had forgotten a bottle of wine. And as my mom always told me, you never show up to a person's house empty-handed. (insert trumpets here) BevMo to the rescue! This store is the Shangrila of booze. Plus, their prices beat most supermarkets and neighborhood liquor stores. What I especially dug about this BevMo location was their vast cheese selection. Their cheeses, charcuterie, and crackers rivaled anything you might find at a Whole Foods Market or gourmet deli. I was kind of blown away by how quiet the store was (but maybe I was there on their off-hours). But hey... what did I care? I snagged me a nice bottle of bubbles and some delicious, stinky cheese for a very reasonable price (and in under 10 minutes!!). No complaints here. I was always under the misconception that BevMo was some kind of discount warehouse for alcoholic libations. After years of shopping here, I realize that is clearly not the case; you're not going to see prices much lower than your local Safeway. However, the 5-cent holiday wine sale is reason enough for me to drop a few Benjamins here at least once a year. I would love to see them expand their sake and dessert wine selections though. Bev-Mo! is located on the Estuary side of Embarcadero opposite Yoshi's. They have a private parking lot across the street, which makes it a plus in the Jack London Square area. Bev-Mo! is a superstore of spirits, wine, beers, sodas and everything you need for a party or event, such as cheese, crackers, candies, chips and more. The selection is amazing with all the brands, vintners and breweries that they carry. What you don't find at a regular liquor store or supermarket, Bev-Mo! will more than likely carry it.
