I'm never quick to yell racism, especially in todays climate. However, today i had a first-hand racist experience when dealing with Andrew the Store Manager. I noticed Andrew was helping another customer (a white man, younger than myself) at the Tequila Case. I asked Andrew if he could also grab a bottle of Don Julio Reposado for myself. He obliged. When Andrew took out the customers bottle, he placed it in the customers hand and let him go along his way. However when Andrew grabbed my bottle, he told me he would have it for me behind the counter. I asked the customer if there was any reason besides race that he received his bottle in hand prior to paying, but i couldnt get mine until i paid, the customer looked me up & down appraisingly then responded, "You know why." This was clearly a racist response, and so i decided to ask Andrew for clarification. When i asked him the same question, Andrews response was "idk, because you had your arms folded." This experience leaves me deflated and worried that even in modern times, in communities as progressive as Santa Monica, blatant racism & prejudice still exists amongst us. read more

BevMo is on the busiest street on the West side, but it is super easy to find and they have their own parking lot which is a fine size. It is on the east side of Lincoln Blvd just a few blocks south of Washington. There is a street behind it (Glenco) if you can turn on that you can get to it from the back. The place is huge and whatever you want they have. They have a large selection of sodas, beer, wine and so much hard liquor. It is all kept neat and lined up so you know where to go once in the store. They also sell ice and everything else you may need for a party. They even have kegs--I have no idea if this is something you call ahead for, I have never bought one. They have outdoor seating just to relax, but the last time I was there it was gone. I don't know if they put it back. The inside and outside of the store is just spotless and I bet that is hard to do on the outside with the meth heads that can linger around there. Please don't give them money, they will just buy meth with it. Really. And it is not good for the store. The service is quite nice and it is pretty fast. I do wish they had more sales, but you can't have everything. Have fun. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I ordered a bottle of champagne online for my friend's birthday in Playa del Rey. The order was fine but the delivery didn't happen! I received a text that there might be a delay of the delivery and I needed to contact the driver. I texted the driver and was told that ID had to be shown that my friend was over 21 years old. I responded that everyone in that household was over 21 years old. Then I was told customer service was calling me. It turned out my friend was out to lunch and the driver refused to accept the ID of others in the household. They then contacted my friend who texted back a photo of his ID. The driver refused to accept it and cancelled my order. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!! I will never recommend this company and their misunderstanding of the liquor laws. read more

Back in 2023, one of the security officers, named Freddy, brought his pit bull mix dog to work with him at this location. The dog was aggressive and bit a transient. I saw the video at the time and it was disturbing. Poor judgement. In general the staff is very professional, thus a couple more stars. If you place a delivery order you should expect delivery. But apparently on Saturday 4/20 delivery was redefined and meant you had to come down to the parking lot of your apartment complex and get your purchase. Delivery driver said he could not carry the box (5 bottles of liquor). I asked him if he couldn't carry did he expect a 61 year old woman to come down and get...his response was yes! I politely told him he might as well take it back to the store. I immediately called the store and reported the incident. The store attendant took my name and number and would be back in touch. An hour later (I had not been contacted) I called the store back to ask what the status was. His response was that the delivery driver had returned the items to the store because he "could not make contact with the customer ". He said there was "...nothing I can do, he doesn't work for us!" I told him this was incredible and that he was losing a long time customer that has had many deliveries to my door. He said once again there was nothing he could do and that my items were still boxed up if I wanted to come get them!!! I politely told him he might as well put the bottles back on the shelf. Went into this quaint establishment to conduct business and was harassed by the employees. Especially an older male employee with glasses. He was irate and refused to let me complete my work. Harassed me the entire time I was there sent other employees to follow me through a 4 aisle store . When I tried to politely inform him of my work it was not enough he was still very rude until I was forced to leave. Love this BevMo location! The staff is always exceedingly helpful and friendly. Most visits we bring our pup with us and they always have a comment about how cute she is :) Prices are super fair if you're a member (and being a member is super easy to sign up for), and I love how they offer their shipping boxes instead of plastic bags for us to carry our purchases out. Love to see the sustainable efforts! I do wish they carried more glass containers for their mixers - for example their club soda only comes in plastic bottles so I have to shop elsewhere to cut down on plastic consumption. Be cautious and patient in the parking lot if you're driving to this location; it's pretty compact. Great spot! read more

I hardly ever go to BevMo. I prefer Total Win and More, not only is the selection great, the customer service is always top tier! Today I walked in to this location and security is just sitting down on his phone. The girls working didn't greet anyone and have a very rude demeanor. Before going to the store I searched for a certain hard seltzer and the website said they were in stock. I looked around for them and couldn't find the pack I was looking for. I found one tall can and took it to the front to ask if they had a four pack and where I could find it. The girl at the register looked at the can and said "I don't think we have it." Didn't offer to look, didn't search in her computer for it, flat out didn't try to help. I grabbed more tall cans to purchase and a different girl returned to the register. I asked her if they have them in stock and she immediately said "they're in the middle isle on the left," in a low monotone voice... she clearly doesn't care to help customers. When I returned with the case, I showed it to the other girl who stated they don't carry them and the other girl says "she's new" and just proceeds to look at her screen while talking. I hope she isn't the one in charge of training, because she isn't a very good example. She had an attitude and didn't even offer to give a bag for a case of seltzers and four tall cans. I nicely asked for a bag and she just grabs one, places the items inside and just hands it over without saying a word after the purchase was made. No manners. Will not go back. Although, I'm sure that's what these workers are hoping for. read more

Wow can't believe all the haters, this place is surrounded by crime and homeless yet they manage to keep the inside and front entrance SAFE and CLEAN. Also they have the best alcohol selection until you find the next Bevmo. I give this place a 3 star because I come in somewhat frequently, and they always have what I'm looking for. The selection is awesome! Great way to try new things. But today I called ahead to ask if they had a large 805 keg. After a very long hold he comes back and says yes we do. (Sounded annoyed) So I come in and decide to get 2 kegs for the event that I'm throwing. While waiting I look at some beers. I take a few pics so I remember what to look up....for future ideas about what to try. "No pictures allowed mam." Huh? Me? I'm just raking pics so I know what I was thinking about trying. Prices are a bit high but they have a good selection of the go to items. A few times I have stopped in and they carry some things but not the others which sucks because i have to make multiple trips. The employee woh helped me took the time to describe each mini bottle to me. I wanted the best quality for my basket. I never thought the words "Your beer is more expensive than Whole Foods!" would escape my lips. But alas, they did. Except for one seemingly overworked guy, this place has a terrible staff. They insincerely mumble "Can I help you" (probably a requirement of the job), as they turn their backs to you and rush away. Both myself and a friend shopped there separately, similar experiences... neither one of us was asked for membership, which is actually free, and which turns out would have saved us quiet a bit of money. Why aren't the staff recommending, or even mentioning, membership? This is not a place that the employees are passionate about customer service. Although that should be the goal. Went into this Bevmo and asked if they carry shiner bock strawberry or prickly pear. Two employees just stare at me as if I didn't ask a question. Finally a guy answers no. At this point I would expect for someone to show me something different. Visited this Bevmo today after calling to verify they had Madeira wine I was in search of. I entered with a flannel hooded jacket unzipped, hood on. I was greeted quite nicely by a gentleman that gave a look of a suspicious gaze (objective) and another associate (Samantha) who seemed to be the manager, either coincidence or duty called, after seeing me left the register and was now on the floor with a walkie talkie in hand. I felt weird so I went to the front and asked where do I find the Madeira as I had called for it and it was said that it is in the store. I was escorted to an aisle where some searching occurred but no avail until Samantha thought it more efficient to ask a "connoisseur" that was doing a wine tasting in the store. The gentleman eventually pointed us in the right direction, all this time I kept the hoodie on my head (it was drizzli g and cold outside). I then did my research on my mobile device of the options they carry, all whilst the associate(Samantha)was right by my side or close by (focused service or Loss Prevention). I decided on the rainwater medium dry as I would be making a paté with it and a sweet one wouldn't do the dish justice. I went to the front behind another customer, she said to me, "I can help you here," how nice. She requested my ID and proceeded to scan it into a computer system, first that happened to me, before it was visually checked, maybe someone else was not doing their job by pricedure. She was cordial but throughout the whole experience I felt targeted/judged, and I understand the miscreant guise that was manifest by my visage, but after speaking to you and interacting with another associate/person in the store that picture/judgment was not mitigated and for me it was overboard and I am not sure if I wish to return to this store again. read more

I've been looking forward to shopping at this new location that is much closer to my apartment than the Westwood location. Today I stopped by and I tried to use a coupon that was sent to my email through the Bevmo Club and the experience ended being a giant hassle and waste of my time. Upon check-out, there was an issue with my old account and my new account so the coupon wasn't registering. The store manager started by saying that I had already used the coupon and kept on asking if I did even though I was positive that I hadn't. Then he said my $10 off $50 coupon only works on alcohol, even though it does not state that anywhere on the coupon. He then realized it had to do with my account number and the coupon from my email not matching up. I explained to the store manager the situation that I had already changed my phone number and there was nothing else I could do if both my old and new accounts were under the same email. After 20 minutes of trying to check out, unnecessarily trying to bring my alcohol total over $50 and trying change my account from my phone the store manager still unapologetically insisted that there was absolutely nothing he could do or override and kept referring me to just check online. As someone with retail manager experience, customer service is always the number one priority. I understand there are rules and regulations, but I also know that $10 off of an $80 order is not worth hassling a customer and loyalty club member. Service up to the check-out point was great but this end experience was really off putting, not to mention that I kept informing the manager that the price signage and the register price were off and the manager kept on saying it was just a tax thing when it clearly wasn't. This Bevmo location is much more convenient for me than some other liquor stores but the lack luster customer service and asinine Club Card and coupon process have turned me off to going back to the more mom and pop locations around town... and there is always holiday Costco options. read more

We go to this location all the time, I'm shocked how rude kyana was. First we called in advance to check if they had a specific bottle in stock, and they said yes. When we got to the store they said they were out of stock... for months! Second they didn't want to do price match to total wine, which they always did in the past (even for more expensive bottles). Third, we went back to the register to check out (where we were in the process of the checkout already) kyana, again, asked us to step aside and continued to check out two more people before I stepped back and requested to check out. She was super rude and said she had to check out people in the line, where we already waited prior and step away because they didn't have the bottle we called ahead in stock, her answers were rude, she had an attitude, and clearly didn't want to be at work.
