Took 35 minutes to get a table of 5. Terrible service at the check in table and no warning about time to wait. Food is below average took 10 minutes to clean a table. Not enough seats for more than 6 people which resulted in a 15 people standing for more than 35 minutes .All tables are very unkept for 15 minutes at a time. But are waiter was amazing. read more

Shopped here for years, will never return. First, I need to preface this with the fact that my wife wife walks with a cane due to a brain injury. When we shop she uses a cart to help stabilize her gait, and make her less self conscious about her disability. No carts out front of shop so we head inside. There were two carts sitting unattended between the register station and the wine selection. One half full of empty boxes, another had a single small empty box in the front basket. We moved the empty box to the half full cart and proceeded to shop. Roughly twenty minutes later an employee approached my wife while I was in another part of the store and began harassing her over the cart, going as far as telling my PHYSICALLY DISABLED wife to go outside and get a cart if she needed one. Harassing customers over an unattended cart? Are you joking? If there were "millions of carts" outside as this person told my wife, repeatedly, then feel free to go get one. I had to tell him off to get him to leave us alone. After several minutes discussing the situation with my wife we returned the cart to the incredibly rude employee, with several hundreds of dollars of product therein. Will never spend another dime there. The Santee location is a bit more of a drive, but well worth it to avoid this level of poor treatment. read more

Every single time we place a curbside pick up order, no one ever brings it out. Today, we checked in, waited 10 minutes then called the store. The lady apologized and said someone would be right out. 10 more minutes go by and we finally just go inside. The cashier working the online pickup straight out says "oh yea I heard her say to bring it out but I blanked it out because I'm helping with the line". Cool bro. Let's just ignore all the other customers that paid in advance and did curbside pickup cause we're also busy and have stuff to do. What's the point of offering it, if you guys never actually bring the orders out? read more

Average to high prices. The buy 1 get 1 $0.05 for wine is an outstanding deal. That's what brought my in today. However, I have frequented this location on several different occasion. Liquor prices are quite high compared to Costco and Sams club. The reason BevMo is so amazing is because you can find all your alcohol beverages under 1 roof. They offer a vast variety of liquor, wines and champagne beverages. This location is very clean with large debris feel aisles. Unfortunately, my last few visits the line was extremely long and there was only 1 cashier ringing up customers. The customer service was great. The cashier did his best to get the lines down while being personable. read more

I've been here a couple of times because there isn't a Total Wine and More in this area. I'm sure BevMo will stay in business I'm just not sure how long now that Total Wine and up and going. They have a nice size craft beer selection but I just can't get over some of the prices!!! read more

I am telling you, you can't miss BevMo's .5 cent wine bottle sale after you buy one at regular price. I came in to this location to pick up a good bottle of Cabernet for my brother's birthday. I picked a two bottle of Gen 5 a great wine from Lodi California, a sustainable winery, for $15, (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bevmo-la-mesa-2?select=zGADT4esCDjzHaMrw_gCEw#6b1BVv_4p6dkclv_gmZaJg) some red Zinfandel, and some cheeses and crackers. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bevmo-la-mesa-2?select=zGADT4esCDjzHaMrw_gCEw#UWIfikso8PsNcQQJIz3u4g) One thing I really liked about this particular 5 cent wine fire sale, was that they had almost all their wines on sale, so the selection was vast an easy to find one you like. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bevmo-la-mesa-2?select=zGADT4esCDjzHaMrw_gCEw#IMM3BDaX3e1ZWCG_5Wuasw) The girl who rung up my order at the register was very cool; Alexandra I believe her name was. The Mission Valley BevMo told me about this location. It is a much larger store with lots of wines, beers, and spirits. When I first entered the store the clerk greeted me and asked if I needed in help. Great start this doesn't happen all the time when you enter some store. I was in the market for a new rabbit wine opener because my old one broke and my husband really liked that rabbit. Luckily, they had a few styles to choose from. The store was clean and there were plenty of wines, beers and spirits to choose from. Some brands I was familiar with and some I was not. BevMo has a huge selection of wines etc. and the prices are fair. You can also pick up a little deli tray, cheese and crackers or other snacks for that special get together. read more

30 MIN WAIT IN LINE.. TWICE. "SERVER ISSUES" I went to this location two times inside of one month and both times their "servers were down." FIRST VISIT: " you must downloader app to order something to the store, then walk to the front counter and buy it , we do not accept cash at the moment." SECOND VISIT: The last experience on 16 December was especially inconvenient as the manager ensured the line of 26 patrons that the server reboot would take no more than five minutes, then another five minutes, and eventually 20. Strongly recommend literally any back alley liquor store that also accepts cash over this mismanaged DMV of liquor stores. read more

Staff is always friendly and accommodating! If you can't find it, they either know exactly where it's at or look it up on line for the nearest store in stock! The La Mesa BevMo is one of the best. It has plenty of space to walk around, you do not feel like if you turn you will break something (Mission Valley location). We came here about 5 minutes before closing on a Sunday, and the two remaining employees were not annoyed at us at all - or hid it well :) - though they had every right to be. I used to work retail, and one of my biggest pet peeves as an employee was seeing customers come in last minute, the way we did tonight. With that said, I will go out of my way to praise the awesome customer service displayed by the two employees at this place. I wish I would have gotten their names for recognition. They treated us with kindness, and did not show any signs of frustration, as we strolled in last minute before they had to complete their closing duties. This BevMo is well organized and they offer a solid selection of beers from various microbreweries, wines, and hard liquor. I typically prefer beer, as shown in my photos. I think it's funny to see that they offer a pretty big selection of chips and even Pirate's Booty near the counter. Everything considered, this place is definitely a 5 star establishment, for both alcohol selection and superb customer service :) read more

Customer service is horrible!! the manager does not understand that NO ALCOHOL means it is not an alcoholic beverage. I'm a 70 year old person and they still insisted on ID. I went up the street and purchased a non alcohol wine with no problems and no ID! Bevmo you have lost a customer for good. The way you keep treating customers you will soon be out of business. Did an online order for two bottles. Chose this location due to it saying it has it in stock online. I ordered it online and got the confirmation to pick up. I show up and they said they don't have the bourbon I wanted. Drove half an hour out of my way just to find out they didn't have it. What a waste of time. Amazing customer service and great selection! Maria is a superstar manager who helped us get everything we needed for our big day. Bevmo is THE BEST choice for choosing beverages for an event. Even if your event is closer to another location Maria is the difference between a mediocre experience and a stellar one and will make your event a success. She was patient with us as we coordinated with her from two states away and everything showed up on schedule and without hassle. I can't say enough good stuff about this Bevmo - they really made what could have been a stressful time really easy. Being that this is the closest Bevmo to our relatives' house we will for sure be back here every time we are in town to get what we need for family events. read more

San Diego's 1st bevmo. It is actually on the large side and carries on average more variety than other county Bevmo's, not on the small side at all. They stock the largest selection of craft beer, both local and national/international, but they have lots of hard to find spirits, cordials, ingredients home bartenders use like apertif's and garnishes. Parking is weird and since it sits unobstructed on a hillside it gets some crazy sunset light. Staff is very helpful when you can find them as their walk in cooler area is humongous. I'm almost certain this was a former grocery store. Overall selection is great, peep the back craft soda wall for their sarsaparilla and root beer selections. All bevmo's lack actual bar equipment and high end tools, but it's sort of like party city in that regard. Staff is friendly when you can find them, displays are a little trivial, but they do have weekly specials and though some items are higher than competitors all in all your experience here price wise will show them to be cheaper in the long run. read more

I have frequented Bev Mo many times in the past. Usually before special occasions like dinner parties, birthdays or holidays. It is just a paradise for anyone that enjoys a cocktail, a glass of wine or beer. Specializing in the unique and hard to find. Bev Mo isn't the cheapest place to buy alcohol but they are the best. I am always finding new things to try. Last time I bought a bottle pint of Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Stout. Initially I thought it was a weird combo (peanut butter and beer) but ended up loving it. That is typically my type of experiences at Bev Mo. I find something new and amazing every time. Besides beer, wine and hard booze. They have all kinds of chips and crackers, dips and cheeses, nuts and deli meats. Great gift items for friends and family members. They even have a extensive cigar selection. When I come here. The cigar section gets bigger and better. So if your ready to try something different than your everyday Coors Light/Bud beer; or you had a great micro brew at a bar and want to find a place that sells it in a six pack. Come to Bev Mo. They probably have it here. read more

BevMo! - Happy 4th of July!!! - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - La Mesa, California

I was here recently to buy some beer and Kahlua. I found cordial isle and two employees happen to be chatting it up right near where I was standing. There were 3 different sizes & prices for bottles of Kahlua the first & smallest for 19.99, 2nd & medium for 29.99, 3rd was the biggest & highest priced. I wanted to know if the 29.99 bottle was double the size of the first bottle. It was on sale and I didn't have my glasses on. Here is where my experience went left.I asked the 2 employees behind me for help, the blonde female employee rolled her eyes like I was interrupting something intense idk. No problem let's move on. In steps Jordan. I ask,"Is this bottle double the amount of liquid than this one?" He then proceeds to slowly put his finger on the 750ml & ask "Is 750ml half of 1L ?" Then put his finger on the 1L.( For those that don't know it's the 2nd bottle is the better deal, but just barely). It was his tone and the pace and way his said it.If I had felt he was doing the math himself, and was taking his time to complete his conversions to himself I would have no problem. If he had just said "No it's not." I would have no problem. If I was shown any type of the customer service I had received there in the past I would have no problem. It was a moment for him to use his teaching skills to try and walk me through this equation the same way an irritated Dad would do to his son while going over something for the the 10th time. My GF approached right at that moment, so I decided to keep my mouth shut & walked to the cashier but I was upset at that very moment. In all fairness i didn't catch his name at the time, when I described him the cashier that's what she told me. Anyways support your local corner store & Ralph's & costco are cheaper. I really miss Total Wine, they would never! TL;DR I didn't have my glasses, interrupted a conversation & was a victim of attempted belittlement. read more

I've just recently discovered my deep love for porters and stouts, especially of the craft variety. My husband would often come to BevMo for his craft IPA but I would wander around bored while he took FOR-EVER picking out what he wanted. I used to complain about how long it took him to pick out beer when I could walk over to the wine or liquor section and come out with my choice in a minute. Well, now that I'm in love with these craft beers I understand why it takes time. BevMo has a great selection of craft beer, both cold and room temperature. I love their descriptions of the beer and the recommendations. I wanted to limit myself to two pints, so I seriously switched my beer choices three or four times in the 30 minutes we were there. I wish they had a few more stout/porter options in the single smaller bottles, but they do have plenty of other beers in that size. There are always plenty of employees wandering around and they are more than happy to help. One word of caution, though: We noticed that not all the price tags matched the beer in its various locations. For instance one pint was listed as $8.99 in the fridge, $6.39 on the shelf, and $8.99 on the end cap. We asked an employee and she confirmed $6.39 was the most recent price. Also one of the bottles I purchased was listed as $3.99 but rang up as $4.29. For 30 cents I didn't object, but make sure to keep an eye on what's ringing up and what price you expected to pay. Besides that, between this place and my favorite liquor store down the street (Helix Liquor, ya'll!), I'll have plenty of delicious craft porters and stouts to choose from. Cheers! read more

The La Mesa Bevmo is great. I've been shopping there for years, way before Bevmo started branching out in the County. My wife and I were talking about, of all things, Czech beer. I suggested we go to BevMo and try our luck. As luck has it, there was one six-pack of Czech beer on the shelf, which I picked up immediately. Although we didn't ask for any assistance, neither were we offered any. Actually, the aisles are fairly self-explanatory, unless you are looking for a really niche type of beverage. However, the customer service was much better on a previous occasion when I was looking for a specific brand of Champagne, oops, I mean "sparkling wine". The staff was very helpful and I found what I wanted, which, lucky me, was on sale. All in all, a good place to shop for unusual adult beverages. Just about everybody beats BevMo's prices on the standard swill, but if you ever want something special, this is the place to find it. read more

What does it say about a person when the folks at BevMo call you by name? In my case it says I've spent a small fortune keeping my kegerator stocked and that if I'm not careful my next Yelp review may be a 12 step program. I usually cruise in here with my empty and then head back to the cooler to peruse the keg selection. It's kind of random what they might have week to week but I can usually find something good. One time I had the misfortune of running out on the 5th of July. Their stock was as drained as my keg. But no problem, they ordered one for me and called me a few days later. read more

This was the very first BevMo location we'd ever been to. I remember when it seemed like this was the *only* BevMo in the county. Now, of course, they're all over the place. We used to drive out of our way to shop here, because of the selection and the great deals on all kinds of drinks, not just the booze. Plus, I love seeing the different food items that they have for sale - from the crunchies like chips and pretzels to the cheeses and sweets. The people here don't seem to be as friendly as I remember, or as the employees at our "local" BevMo. They weren't particularly busy the day we showed up, but nobody bothered greeting us when we walked in, despite the fact that there were two employees standing right by the door, chatting about cars or cats or something. In addition, we walked by a couple other employees on our way to find the booze we wanted, and not one of them acknowledged us or asked if we needed help. Not that we did (need help, that is), but it would have been nice to have someone ask. And finally, once we did get our items and headed to the front to pay, we were greeted by empty registers. All those employees that were wandering around the store had mysteriously vanished in the four minutes it took for us to get from the entrance to the racks and back to the front again. We had to actually hunt someone down to ring us up, which is never a good thing for me. It was nostalgia and proximity that brought us back to this location, but it's the lack of friendly staff and distance that'll keep us away. Thank goodness we have a store closer to home, with employees that at least acknowledge your existence when you enter. read more

If you need it, they have it. The place is well stocked, clean and the staff are friendly during the check out process.

Aside from the large selection and good prices, this is the friendliest store in town! I'm not even a big spender but I get to know the clerks by first name and they get to know me. It's nice to walk in ANY store and be treated like an old friend. I even get hugs here! They go out of their way to help you and are very knowledgeable. Not too many stores carry Greek Retsina, which I love, and for a reasonable price. They've always got good beer sales and carry dozens--maybe hundreds--of those little airline size liquor bottles of everything under the sun. I like this place so much that when I had an extended stay in Arizona last year I drove miles out of my way to go to the one there regularly and it was almost as friendly as this one! 12.9.17 - Update (changed from.a 1 star rating to a 4 star rating. I would be remiss if I did not express my pleasure as well as my (see below) displeasure with this Bevmo. As Insaid, I have been coming here since it opened and I almost always have a good experience but to be more precise a good customer service experience... the team that is here now are top notch and always are helpful and nice. The "manager" person who the below review was written for is no longer at this Bevmo and I am happy for it. Marlon and Corey are here now and they are great men to talk to, always helpful and the customer service of the entire staff NOW is pleasant. I love this bevmo and am happy the other guy is gone. -----------------------------Update------------------------- This one star rating today is based off my experience today. I have been coming to this Bevmo since it opened. I even have the keychain card. They don't even give these out any more. I'm headed out of town but got an email on yestetday that was for 10% off a case and $10 00 off $75.00. So, it's 5 cent sale time... I go in, I stock up, get my 12 bottles. Head up to register... I tell her that I have 2 coupons... (I've used up to 4 at one time before) and she says she thinks it may have to be all one wine for the 10% off. A manger type guy walks over...says that is true. I ask if that's what it says on the coupon (as I began to read mine on my phone). He said no, but that they found out through trying it that it had to be all one wine. I say, thats false advertising and Ibwill be writing to corporate. He shrugs and walks away. I say to Brit at the register that's not how its supposed to work and you can't send and advertise a coupon then after the fact put a stipulation on it. I then ask her to try them both any way. She says sure and scans my 10% coupon. Goes through without so much as a snag..blup! She then scans my second one $10.00 of $75 or more. Blup! No issues. I'm not sure what that dudes issue was or where his customer service habits were learned but if he is a manger here he is a piss- poor one. He never came back over and had just decided that I was wrong and didn't give two-shits when I said I was contacting corporate. As I walked out, I said to Britt "make sure you tell him how wrong he was after I leave". This dude was probably still in high school when I first started coming to this BevMo.
