I came in with my husband and the staff were extremely unhelpful. We were visiting from out of town to celebrate our recent move to California and thought it would be nice to grab a bottle of wine here. Wrong! The staff was borderline rude and ignored my husband when he asked how he could become a member to avail of the offers as it was definitely pricey without. We felt so unwelcome here and weren't sure if it was because we were from out of town or the girl at the register was having a bad night. We decided to take our business elsewhere. read more

I was in the store this evening and bought several items, among which was a snack sized salami and cheese pack. Halfway through eating the salami and cheese, the expiration date on the package caught my eye because it was TWO WEEKS past its expiration date. I bought and ate half of it today, June 4th, and the expiration date on the package was 5/21. After briefly panicking about food poisoning, I called the store. Andrew, a manager on duty, answered. I explained that I was calling because I had just bought and eaten expired food from his store. He responded with a rude "OK, what do you want me to do about it?" I calmly explained that I would like to know why the food they're selling is so expired, and that I wanted to make sure no one else buys and eats expired food from this BevMo. To which he responded in the same flat tone, "SORRY. What do you want me to do about it." I would have been happy with the manager assuring me they would check their food products to make sure the expiration dates aren't past when being sold on the shelves, but instead I experienced such callous and unnecessary rudeness, which, frankly, was shocking. Prices at BevMo are not as good as they were in the past. Friendly staff, but be aware of prices. Selection is good but CVS & Safeway can top the price and on par with the variety. Wait for coupons & specials, then compare. read more

I love Bev Mo! but will not be coming back to this location. The last time I was in here, the manager and the cashier were both incredibly rude. I am totally easy going and not one to complain but my experience at this store made me want to come home and write this review. I picked out an item that the shelf said was on sale. When the cashier rung it up, it did not come up as the sale price. I explained to the cashier that, if it wasn't on sale, I didn't want it. The cashier looked to the manager, who couldn't be bothered to look at the item on the shelf or apologize for the store's mistake. The manager just said, in a very rude tone, "Well then, take it off". My boyfriend did not bring his driver's license into the store. Rather than calmly explain Bev Mo's policies, the cashier said to him (again in a very rude tone) "You should go!" My boyfriend is not one to complain so he just waited for me outside the store, where he pointed out a sign that said, "Individuals under 21 must be accompanied by an adult." So, even though he forgot his driver's license, he should have been fine because he was with me! Just frustrated. I understand that it's not the greatest job in the world but there is no need to be mean! Lucky for us there are three more locations in Marin to choose from! read more

BevMo tries to seem like they want customers, but their business practices are rigid and riciculous. Some employees are nice, but some are mostly interested in letting you know that their "policy" is to GET IN YOUR WAY when you are TRYING TO SPEND MONEY THERE. I went in today and tried to find a Kendall Jackson Cab--ALL OUT. Seriously? Right during the holidays? Safeway in Strawberry is fully stocked and this wine is actuall on sale. Then, I pick up two bottles of Silver Oak as special Christmas gifts, go to the register and find out they won't sell them to me because I did not have my driver's license on me. I mistakenly left it in an outfit pocket after getting home late from the airport last night. There is no way that I even look as young as my thirties, let alone my 20's. I just left the bottles there and decided to bring my money to a business whose policies are actually written to faciliate SALES. Oh, SALES...WHAT ARE THOSE, BEVMO--GREENBRAE? Horrible experience! Yes I do look young but I am of age (25) and should not be treated differently. I needed help in getting something out of the case and all the employees bypassed me helping the customers around me. Had to flag an employee down and they just walked away from me until someone else saw me. The whole time the employees looked at me like I was trouble when I was buying one of their higher priced liquors. Definitely ruined my day. read more

Unhelpful, rude I shop at this store about once a month. It is generally pretty empty. Yesterday I went there to ask if they had any boxes I could take for moving. The person at the front told me it was policy to give boxes ONLY to customers. I said I was a customer, but wasn't buying anything then, because I didn't want to move anything extra. The guy repeated his "policy." Fortunately, the single customer at the store was checking out and overheard our exchange & she said, let her have mine, then. The bevmo guy grudgingly gave me two boxes, repeating the store policy against giving "free" empty boxes. Really? dozens of folks only buy 2 or 3 bottles at a time, & don't take a box. Bevmo must have a back room full of broken down boxes for recycling. Even if the store were low on the boxes in the front (NOT), they could at least suggest a time to come back after they do general restocking. Actually, it would save them the time of breaking the boxes down. This Bevmo is the ONLY place i received so unhelpful a response. Neither the prices nor the product warrant a return visit from me. Good-bye Bevmo! World Market just across the parking lot has plenty of choices, their prices are good, and their staff is friendly. read more

Used BevMo for our July wedding in Sausalito. They did a fun tasting, helped us pick out unique items that were right for us, and helped us figure out the quantities best for our group. They were even responsive over phone and email to make some changes to our order. They were on-time with delivery and everything went without a hitch. We had plenty of drinks for everyone and just a little extra to bring home. Couldn't ask for anything more on our wedding day! read more

They have all the alcohol you would expect at a BevMo! however not the customer service. I parked in front of the store and my boyfriend stayed in the car, before I could even get out of the car an employee was staring us down at the entrance, hands on hips, hips swung to the side- posture which would have been fine if she hadn't have been mean- muggin' us. I get stared down my whole way through the store and then when I go get rung up I get another look from a different employee at the register who proceeds to ignore me while she talks crap about a previous customer to another loud-mouthed emloyee. She said some offensive potentially racist things and the manager involved with their issue did little to improve upon the poor experience when I commented to him about my bad experience. I got what I needed, overall an unpleasant experience. Customer service 1 star or none if that's possible provided amenities and products I'd give 4 stars for that. read more

Went with 2 friends... we were looking for Christmas gifts. We were just walking around the store, laughing a bit, enjoying our Christmas shopping experience. We had asked one of the older male employees to help us find mini bottles of Frangelico for stocking stuffers and he was very rude and unhelpful. We had already checked the racks with the mini alcohol bottles. He showed us the larger bottles (and acted very put out about it), and walked away while we were asking another question. Saw him in the store a little later being very nice and helpful to another older woman. We were also looking for Basque cider... then suddenly, out of nowhere one of the employees cornered and confronted us abruptly and condescendingly asked us to show him our IDs. He said that his manager wanted to make sure we were of age. **By the way, we were in the store for over 10 minutes before we were rudely approached and interrogated**. We would have totally understood if this happened politely at the register, but it was so disruptive, accusatory and the tone he used with us was short and unnecessarily judgemental. We bought our items and left, but all of us felt that our experience was made much worse and dissatisfying with the way we were treated and patronized as customers. Clearly need a lesson in customer service. Sorry to say it, but they have definitely lost some "of age" customers. We won't be returning. read more
