My normal BevMo is in Canoga Park, wonderful store by the way.... but I was close to Encino so decided to stop by for some Cabernet Sauvignon. What a mistake, first couldn't find anyone on the floor to assist and their prices were at least $5 to $10 higher than my CP store. When I asked the only cashier, she began with "well they serve food there" not sure what the price of tea in china had to do with anything as I was speaking about the wine. Wow... if I could give this nothing, I would. I placed an order for delivery, and only 1/2 was delivered, but I was charged for the entire order. When I called BevMo, the guy said, "Oh yeah, I see it here. You can come to pick it up." If I had wanted to pick it up myself, I wouldn't have paid a lot of extra money to have it delivered! All I wanted was for the BevMo guy (Omar?) to tell me what to do so the poor delivery guy could leave. I wasn't going to sign for a complete order, but the Bevmo guy didn't have a clue. So he goes to get a "manager." I start all over. Again, just trying to get the rest of my order or a confirmation that I would be refunded so I could sign for the rest and the delivery guy could leave. He kept telling me he had to wait for a manager. When I said, "I thought you were the manager." HE HUNG UP ON ME! I've called back twice now. The first time it rang for 2+ minutes before someone picked up but said nothing for THREE minutes. I could literally hear THREE WHOLE MINUTES OF BREATHING. I hung up and dialed back. Again, ring for a minute, then direct to obnoxiously loud hold music. I am still listening to it, waiting for someone to pick it up. Still on hold now.... 14 minutes. Someone keeps picking up, then putting it back on hold. Finally... a manager - Julian. He spoke with Drizley, and I should receive a refund in 3-5 business days? The staff seem great, but the reason for a 2 star review is simple. Almost all of the beer is expired. The wide selection of craft beer unfortunately does not move fast enough and selling expired/out of code beer is a horrible practice BevMo is known for. Check the code dates or born-on dates on the bottom of the package before you purchase (esp craft beer). What the BevMo needs to do is return the expired beer to the distributor because selling it to customers only makes customers hate the beer (because it will taste very bad). Again, staff is fine, the place is clean, but BEWARE OF EXPIRED BEER. read more

Wanted to see what all the hype was about on the white claw wine coolers. I have been drinking the truly ones many times. I decided to pick up a variety pack in the refrigerated section. Jose was very sweet and we chatted it up about which one was the best. He said the mango flavor but unfortunately that was not in my variety pack. I love going to BevMo! Maybe it's the alcoholic in me speaking, but I feel like a kid in a candy store every time I step in. I'm a huge fan of sour beers and boozy kombucha so I'm a happy camper since they have a wide range of them. What stands out the most is their customer service. Staff members have always been very helpful in terms of assisting me in finding the beverage I need or asking if I need help with my bags. Parking is ample as well! read more

Backstory: I used to shop here quite a bit but stopped because prices weren't great and wine selection can be weird. But I will still run in every few months if I know exactly what I want because I can zip in and zip out...except it never happens that way! Today, tried to zip in for Fog Head chardonnay. Not in the chill case as per usual. No customers so I ask the cashier where it's shelved. He is not familiar with the wine and confirms that I want "Frog Head". NO, Fog Head. This repeats. I do not have a speech impediment. Then he stands there waiting to spot another employee to ask for Frog Head. Gives young man key to bathroom. Supervisor comes over to cashier and gets pissed that young man wasn't carded. I say "Hey, how about helping a customer who is clearly over 21 and who wants to buy something?!" She gives me a perplexed look and turns to walk off to the bathroom. Finally, another clerk says "You want Frog Head?" My head is ready to explode. "JESUS CHRIST. IT'S FOG HEAD!" One of the bigger BevMo locations that I've been too. I had a birthday coupon for this month, so I decided to stock up on some drinks. They have a larger selection of wine, a few aisles in the back for beer and a couple of liquor aisles. They have labels on some of the beers made from local breweries such as angel city and Coronado brewing. The angel city pilsner is really good. I also found a chardonnay that I have been searching for forever! I had tried the BevMo in Van Nuys as well as cost plus to no avail but found it here. I was so excited, I got 2 bottles. They also had a cool St. Patrick's day display set up with Irish whiskey for seasonal purposes which was smart. The staff here is friendly and consistently asked me if I needed any help. I've been here a few times without experiencing any issues, but tonight's visit was disappointing and awkward... First, the positives. This BevMo is spacious, well-stocked, and has ample parking. The interior is clean and most of the employees are quite pleasant and helpful. Tonight, my boyfriend and I came by with a BevMo gift card. It was a gift from his friend, and he knew it had $25 on it. We picked up three wine bottles and headed over to the cashiers. Mind you -- there's only one open register. The cashier asked for his phone number. It didn't work. He had to look up his account number in an old email, and thankfully that worked. Red flag right there -- the system is faulty. The cashier rings up our items and gives him the total. He goes to use the BevMo gift card... Which the system promptly rejects. Doesn't recognize what kind of card it is. He tries it again. Doesn't work again. She says there's nothing she can do in regards to manually typing in the gift card number. Weird. She then goes to another register to see about checking the balance. The register freezes on her and doesn't work. She's forced to come back and figure it out at her own register. By now, there's 4 other patrons waiting in line and the other employees don't come over to help. Awkward. She presses a few buttons and says, "There's nothing on the card. Might explain why it's not working," and smiles. Okay... Maybe the friend didn't properly activate the gift card... We then try to use a prepaid Visa card. Guess what -- doesn't work. At this point, we're annoyed and confused. We use a regular credit card and decide we'll look up the balance on the BevMo site later. The cashier was no help and we just wanted to go. Well, what do you know, the BevMo site shows our card balance is indeed $25. No idea if the cashier wasn't running the card correctly or if the system is just down, but not a great experience and just plain awkward. I come here out of convenience, but I'd absolutely consider visiting another location if it means functional equipment. read more

I called in looking for a specific type of beer and I was so excited that the person who answered said they had it. When I came in and looked for it, it happened to be the wrong beer. Same name, surprisingly, just spelled differently and from a different company. It was still German ale which was pretty cool since the beer that I was looking for German ale as well. I was pretty bummed that they didn't carry my beer but I was content that there was someone to help me look for it and I couldn't ask for me. Also, happy this BevMo carries Effen Vodka... One BevMo is like any other, but this one stood out a bit more to me due to the customer service. When I pulled up, the parking lot was a ghost town. I was totally surprised since usually I'm fighting for a parking spot. When I walked in to the store, it was huge. Since it was so big, displays were spread about and made it seem sort of empty. Honestly, it made the store seem overwhelming. Such a big space with everything so far from each other. Totally made it seem more like a hassle to shop there or find anything. A young man was working when I came in. He was super sweet. As soon as I walked in he greeted me and asked if I needed help finding anything. I declined and walked directly to the vodka. Once I chose mine and walked to the register, he was there starting friendly conversation. He even made some recommendations on other brands I should try in the future. Very nice touch! I have never had anyone do that before when I shopped at a BevMo. He assisted me with signing up for a rewards card and still managed to greet every other person that walked through the door. If I'm ever in the area again, I will absolutely use this BevMo for my alcohol needs. read more

This Bev Mo is so disorganized. Was carded for salsa last week, yes I was only buying salsa. The manager said it is illegal to be in the store if you're not 21. I find this very hard to believe since they sell a lot of food. Got to my car and noticed the salsa was expired like it has been many times in the past so I went in and the manager returned my money. Yesterday, I stopped in to get a chilled bottle of Champagne or sparkling wine, not 1 bottle to be found in the refrigerated section. On my way out I noticed that the fresh salsa I love was on the refrigerated shelf so thought they must have gotten a new shipment in but no, it was still all the expired salsas from 5 days earlier. I always wondered why this locator BevMo was always empty . Even though I have shopped here a few times before., today I really needed some questions answered regarding their selection. Not only did I feel like I was burdening the person helping me but when I asked if there was other locations that carry the item I was looking for the associate was not willing to search inventory nor make any effort to help me with any of my concerns. This 5 star review is for Jose! He was knowledgeable and considerate! I was picking up for a delivery and my client requested varies bottles of wine. Jose was able to select and give decent recommendation to my client. He also helped picked out cheese/salami platters, check up on prices, even helped me carry the heavy bottles to my car! Crown Royal released their new whiskey drink, "Maple Finished". I've been searching most of the day and most places did not have it. I tried BevMo in Van Nuys, but they didn't have it. So, the Van Nuys location directed me to BevMo Encino! (Love the Rhyme) Sorry, Yelpers! I have been out of the Yelp Reviews for awhile and I hope to continue writing since I've got a busy life outside of Yelp. This BevMo is located on the north side of Ventura Blvd. The BevMo parking lot is pretty big, but since it was 11am, I was the only one buying so early. Early is very relative. I walked in and saw alcohol heaven. Well, most places that carry alcohol is heaven or a haven. I spoke with the one of the BevMo employees to help me find the Crown Royal Maple Finished Whiskey. I was assisted by the lovely, Deb. She helped me get two Crown Royal Maple Finished ($24.99 regular/$22.99 ClubBev Discount) out of the glass case with the other Crown Royal Brands. She was a doll helping me and giving me advice on other drinks. She had suggested Junior Johnson's CatDaddy Moonshine ($21.99 regular/$18.99 ClubBev). I have never had moonshine, but after writing this review, I might disappear and be Andy Griffith's Otis. Deb rang my order up to a total of $70.82. She also told me that this location does Beer Tasting ($1) on Friday's from 4pm to 7pm and Wine Tasting ($2) from 1pm to 5pm. I told her that I'll be coming back more often. She even said that their location is better than Van Nuys...lol. Well, I will believe her since she suggested a lot of items for me on my first visit. I like this Bevmo although it's not my usual Bevmo. It's a good thing these places aren't too far apart for my adult beverage needs.
