They have the most recent beers that your typical liquor or grocery store dont usually carry. The staff is friendly, realist and know there brews. Only reason why i took one star off is because they dont carry my favorite dark beer: Harpoon Super dark but otherwise i recommend this place if you like a variety of good quality brews. read more

For being a corporate chain, this place feels more like a local mom and pop shop. I think the guy that usually helps us is Mike C (I'll make sure and update review later if I'm wrong). This guy really knows his stuff and actually cares about the customer which we all know is just super rare these days. My wife and I are huge wineo's and I feel like we always walk out of bevmo with something new that we are excited to try. I hope Mike C gets some credit. If I owned Bevmo I would want someone like him at every store. He really makes the Bevmo experience stand out above the competition. Also the selection at Bevmo is amazing. I think everyone knows that though. Prices are good too. I think the 5 cent sale stuff is generally marked up, but if you divide the price by 2 and compare, most bottles are about 20% below average price for that particular bottle. A few days ago I went to Bev and more with my husband to purchase 6 bottles of Pinot for a customer of mine. Well I encounter Mr.Tommy that was so rude and not helpful at all! I say to Tommy " i'm not sure where anything is in here and i really don't drink can you help me fine some names of bottles? Mr Tommy "No, I won't help you, they are all right here" No one is the store but us and Tommy and one other worker. I wanted to cry how rude this man was. Bevmo is always good, literally each location has pretty much anything an alcohol connoisseur would ever need. This particular location is no different and it even stands above a lot of the others as they have a wonderful selection of local brews. Perks of being in SD county I suppose... There is a ton of vodka, gin, run, tequila, beer and of course demographically specific wines. Overall, Bevmo is a great spot to stock up on your alcohol for the house and/or parties. read more

I had to update my review to give them a much deserved 5th star! We purchased way too much alcohol for a party that we had over the weekend and they let us return some without any issue. We still went through over $100 of beer alone but people drank more mixed drinks than they did beer. We had over $50 left in beer and it was great that we didn't get stuck with it. It would've taken us forever to finish it (we're wine-o's). Note that the returned beer were unopened cases of beer and full 6-packs that had not been chilled yet. Given the fact that we spent $300 on liquor alone, it was much appreciated that we could get a little of that back. Despite what some may think - money doesn't grow on trees! = ) Thanks BevMo for supplying all our liquor for our holiday party and allowing us to return what wasn't touched. This place rocks! I've been coming here for years to pick up a couple sick packs here and there or a few bottles of wine, but I've found this place even more helpful for the customer service and ability to get unique alcohol. Over the past year I needed a bottle of sake for a party and had no idea where to begin and was thrilled with the recommendation. Most recently I randomly tried a pumpkin beer (atomic pumpkin made by new Belgium) and loved it. Problem was they get a limited quantity and ran out. However, Tommy went out of his way to try and get me more. He worked with the Chula Vista BevMo location to get a case shipped up to this store. He totally went above and beyond for customer service. I can't say enough great things and will definitely keep coming back. Awesome selection and customer service. read more

Bevmo has everything! Well, they don't sell Rombauer Chardonnay, but maybe they do and it sells as soon as it comes in. Otherwise, they have everything. Walking the aisles of Bevmo is like a date for us. We get nostalgic about the Viogniers, remember fun times with the Pinot Noirs, imagine new possibilities with the Pinot Grigios. Eventually we realize we have 12 bottles and we better leave (that and, oh yeah, they're closing). But we leave with a warm feeling in our hearts and anticipation of memories made possible by Bevmo. The people here at BevMo really know their drinks!! I came here with some friends and we were looking for some beers, but then got lost in a wonderland of beer tasting and mix drink lessons. there's a little animated tv inside where you can just hit whatever buttons you want and then up pops how to make the perfect drink. Also, the staff here is so friendly and they are always willing to help you out if you can't find a certain type of drink. I like BevMo store in Encinitas. It remains me of the Bottle King store from the east coast - same great selection of wines, liquors and beers. Actually BevMo got much better selection of craft beers. So if you want a six pack - stop by BevMo, also Costco got a better price (for a box of 24 bottles which you have to buy) but not a great variety of beers at Costco (still it's a good idea to buy at Costco if you need it for a happy occasion like a bridal or a baby shower). Joining the BevMo club and using the card will help your savings but not a lot. I also wish that I will be able to get a six packs of Iron Fist or Port Brewing Brews instead of only 22oz bottle currently available - but this is not up to BevMo. read more

This is my local Bevmo location and it never disappoints. The staff is so friendly and helpful with any questions you might have, it makes all trips super easy. If there are more than two people in line at any given time they immediately open another register so the wait is never long to cash out. The selection of wine, beer and hard alcohol is excellent. They have wines divided by country and red and white, so it's really easy to find new flavors and go to favorites. Beer, they basically have it all. Some is already chilled so you can enjoy straight away and some are on shelves. Hard alcohol, they have every price point you could want and every kind with lots of options. Basically you can't go wrong with shopping here. They have mixers, and gift wrap if you're getting something as a gift, one stop shop! read more

This is the closest BevMo to my home, and although I'm not a total expert, it seems like it's a pretty big location. They have a very large selection of just about everything. High-end champagne, low end champagne, Hello Kitty champagne etc. We usually come here for their beer selection. Local - Great. Euro - Great. Everywhere else - Just so-so. In particular, we wanted to try some Brazilian beers during the World Cup, but there were only 2 options available. While I know this is not BevMo's fault, seeing some "occasion" beers would be cool. As I have stated in previous reviews, I am a Bevmo FAN! This location is convenient for me when I am headed home from work and not in a big hurry. I have to take the back roads from my office to the freeway, but it's easy to get in and out of here. Ok so seriously I spend a lot of money here but it's well worth it. They have some of the best prices that you will find anywhere. I definitely recommend joining club bev. It's free and they send you 5% off coupons. Also you will get an email heads up when the $.05 wine sale is back. Get to stepping Two Buck Chuck...this Pinot Noir was $.05. Woot!!! The staff here in Encinitas are ok. Not bad and not great either. I have asked a few questions about products and they are happy to try and find me the answer, but I am left a little disappointed by their lack of passion or excitement for their products. This is one of four BevMo locations that I have visited more than once. While I usually have good experiences with this company, I must compliment this store in particular for their great customer service, knowledge, and selection. During my last visit at this location I was there a little before the store opened. The manager saw me lingering and opened the store early just for me. He left me alone to browse and offered help exactly when I needed it. I was already holding my selection, but he offered me a comparable choice in taste and quality but one that actually sells for less. Now did he really think that he could treat me like a valued customer, save me money, and avoid getting a rave review on yelp? I consider myself a bit of an alcoholic, not in the sense I need it, but I'm a fan who studies the craft. I speak knowledgably about Rum, Scotch, Whiskey, Vodka, craft beers (local and national) and wine. Basically anything alcohol related. Mixologist, no, but Jack of all Alcohols, yes. I love Bevmo's, great selection, motivated staff who is generally in the know, but I have yet to meet a friendly checker/associate here. Most Bevmo's have engaged and outgoing staff, but for some reason of the dozens of times I've been here they aren't. Not to take away from the store itself, but the isles are a tad thin and I just feel cramped. Most Bevmo's are usually well lite and inviting, but again for some reason this place lacks the panache I've come to expect. When you need booze, BevMo is the place to go. This location in Encinitas has a particularly great selection, and also does great with tastings on weekends. This location blows the Point Loma store I usually go to out of the water as far as craft beer selection. I walked in and was browsing the Bourbon selection when Sam approached asking if I could use some help making a selection and letting me know that "American Whiskey is (his) life". Well the dude taught me more about whiskey and bourbon in our short discussion than I ever thought possible. If you need a good recommendation or looking for some knowledge on American Whiskey's head in and ask for Sam, he'll get you squared away with something tasty to relax after work! Recently shopped in Encinitas store. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, never once greeted by employees. We were shopping for unique cocktail shooters to make a Lei with for my college graduate. My other daughter whom is 21 in August was with me. We chatted a lot about all the varieties of little shooters never having really bought them. Discussing what would make the nicest tropical lei. We get to the register and meet the blank faced dull girl "Storm". No hello, just glares at my daughter and says where is your ID? Are you 21? I said I'm BUYING the alcohol NOT HER. She snips, she was looking at it and touching it, so it must be for her. I said " Are you kidding me?" It's really none of your business. She was so RUDE, really what a jerk. So she blurts out I can have my manger explain it better. He was also worthless and RUDE. He BARELY ACKNOWLEDGED US reciting the same BS. Neither of these two knucklesheads could verify or explain this "policy". There was a woman with a child about 10 years old shopping, really he's no where close to 21 and was very engaged with his mother looking at all the colorful bottles. TOMY had no EXPLANATION for that. Basically Storm was a Bitch and should stay home and not work with the public. Pandemic or NOT, no excuse for her rudeness.. She was confrontational like she has nothing better to do, then harasses a customer as they're about to pay. Storm & Tomy should learn how to treat customers like they do at the Solana Beach store. They actually like their customers and greet them. We went yesterday to SB store- ALL THREE employees greeted us and were NICE. Also....both my daughters were with me and no BS that Storm gave us. There were 2 kinds neither I would normally buy what what can I say a 17 hour flight and I don't sleep on planes. I get home to find out they are too big and cannot go on a carry on. I go to take them back only to be told that you cannot return wine, seriously what do you think I did to in in 2 hours and why would you not have told me. Are you that dense that you did not know? My fiance and I had a terrible experience with Bevmo. Don't buy alcohol for your wedding or a big party at Bevmo. We were sadly misinformed by their return policy. All Bevmo receipts have a Returns and Exchange policy that reads as follow, "If you are dissatisfied with your purchase or if it is spoiled, contaminated or otherwise not consumable, returns made within 7 days with a valid receipt will be refunded to the original form of payment or exchanged." When I went to return items we didn't want, Bevmo's Manager, Andrea, started to ring the return, then decided she wouldn't. I reviewed the return policy, and she refused. When I asked for the Manager, she said she was the Manager, and when I asked for the District Manager, she claimed she didn't want to bother him on his day off. I have spent thousands with Bevmo over the years, attracted to 5 cent wine sales, the nice selection of unique beers and convenience when it comes to getting beverages for parties. Sadly, today I had a terrible experience. For reference, we bought 1 case too many of water at Trader Joes, and they gladly returned the money. And when I offered the receipt, they said that wasn't necessary. Bevmo, maybe you can learn from Trader Joes. read more

Went to Bev Mo tonight and purchased a 6 pack of beer. No big deal right - however, the cashier asks for my drivers license so he can scan it . What??? This has never happened before - I ask if this is a company policy and he says yes. I ask how long has this been in effect, the cashier replied "about a year". OK, I just shopped in this store 2 weeks ago and my license was not scanned. In fact, I have never had my license scanned in this store and I have been shopping there for ten years. My question - What does Bev Mo do with my drivers license data and why do they need to scan it into their data base? Anyone with a pulse could take one look at me and conclude I am over 21. I have no problem showing my drivers license to comply with local ordinances when purchasing alcoholic beverages - but having a retailer scan it into a private data base rubs me the wrong way. If I purchase beer in any other store in Encinitas, I am not subjected to this invasion of privacy. Until I get a satisfactory answer to my question, I will not shop in Bev Mo Encinitas again. read more

Excellent selection of whiskeys, whiskies, hard liquor and mixers, at fair prices (not gouging prices). And the Bevmo shoppers card saves me money every time I shop there... which keeps me coming back. And very knowledgeably he gave us a lesson on the differences between the types of sakes as well as the brands. He then went to the tequila section with us and had just as much knowledge about the options there! He was so nice, so intelligent and so genuine. Walked in with a friend and all the employees who are standing in the center of the registers ignore us. I went over to try to find what I was looking for and couldn't find it. So I had to walk up to the employees who continued to talk while I waited for moment to ask for help. Finally someone offered me assistance. I explained I was buying champagne for my mom and what I was looking for and he was very helpful. I grabbed what I needed and waited in line with the same girl I walked in with. When I went to check out I handed my id and Bevmo card. He asked for my friends id and I explained again that I was buying this champagne for my mom. He said that wasn't okay and asked his manager to come over. His manager was a waste of air. Stupid rude. He said she wasn't even allowed to be in here because of her age. Then why didn't they say that when we walked in? That's their job is it not? I had no idea, I have been to a Bevmo twice, tonight being the second. The other time I went to a different one where they did not card the person I went with so I didn't think anything of bringing a friend for safety seeing as it is later in the night. I explained I had no idea to which he rolled his eyes and said "there's a sign on the door!" Where's the sign you ask? Behind a stack of baskets and only visible at an angle. How fucking useful. Then I said "well if I go outside and come back without her is that okay, my mom sent me to run this errand" and he said "no! You have been shopping with her!" Hello, if it was against the rules again why wasn't I notified when we walked i, and why was she allowed to be shopping around. They definitely saw her and she is definitely underage. He was so rude to me that I will no longer be visiting this Bevmo and maybe not even Bevmo at all. Seriously why would I be spending $160 on 5 bottles of champagne to drink with a 15 year old. Come on. Further why is it okay for the associates of this store to ignore the customers and let a minor in if minors aren't even allowed to be in the store. If that's the case then why can children go in with their parents? That's still breaking the rule. read more

Today (8/7/2020) I made a very unpleasant experience when I picked up an order around noon at the curb. A group of painters were working on the facade, some right next to the main entrance of the store without wearing masks. I complained to the painters and the employee handing out the order that they should wear masks, when a store manger heard what is going on, he confronted me saying that I should complain with the property manger, because the painters are hired by him, and therefore it is not their responsibility to complain or control them. Considering today's critical situation of the pandemic, I think in the first place it should be in the store's interest to make sure that their customers picking up orders and going in and out of the store are safe, and therefore should report incidents of this kind immediately to the property manager, in case they can not control or resolve the problem by themselves. I tried to call headquarter's customer service to bring up the incident, but of course nobody was available. read more
