I drove here all the way from San Diego for a small claim case and the process ran smoothly. If you are here for small claims like I was it's on the 3rd floor, but the elevator stops at 2nd floor don't be confused this is normal you have to get off the 2nd floor to go through security check point then continue up there are security guards there to guide you they are nice. I highly recommend making an appointment ahead of time and be sure to bring extra copies of your documentation and if you are suing a business you need to know what their agent is mine was LLC, so that's very important to research before you file. I paid about $80 in cash to file and they gave me a hearing court date. You then go back all the way down the elevator again where you saw the security check point go outside and the sheriffs to serve the paperwork on the same day and they are located just around the corner on the left side. Please be respectful to their sheriffs and note that the they have their lunch break hours from around noon to 1pm and it might be closed. Having the sheriffs serve the paper is $50. The parking is very easy it's on the right side of the building they are a part of the building structure. I gladly paid $10 for the parking with cash. Staff was very helpful. If you don't live in Beverly Hills you can do the court hearing remotely and choose to submit all your documentations online. This is not a situation you want to be in but gets the job done fast. If you can avoid using the Beverly Hills Sheriff office for your court services, AVOID them. This office is by far the worse office in the whole county. Very unprofessional, the clerks don't know what they are doing. Every clerk will tell you something different than the other. They are known to misplace checks that belong to the plaintiff whether its a garnishment or bank levy funds. It's been four months since a judgment was paid through an ewo and we still have not received payment. If you are not calling them weekly following up on your cases, you wont see your money ever! We are a multi filer and we have seen a decline on customer service for the past 3 years now. The clerks here are rude. Probably because they do not know what they are doing. Beware of Using the Sheriff's Office for Process Serving. I went through the Beverly Hills Courthouse to have the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department serve my small claims case. I paid $50 for service of process, provided detailed instructions, and even included the access code needed to enter the defendant's building. Despite that, the deputies made three failed attempts because they never used the access code I gave them. Each time they simply wrote "unable to access property." To make matters worse, they also left out key attachments from my court filing-meaning that even if they had made contact, the service would have been legally invalid. If you need to serve legal documents, save yourself time and frustration: hire a registered private process server instead of going through the Sheriff's Department. The courthouse staff and deputies are warm and polite-deputies even held onto my glass water bottle that wasn't allowed in the building until I left (others courthouses would make you walk all the way back to your car and put it back.) However, the Sheriff's office's process serving system is careless and outdated. (BTW: You even need to bring a PAPER check for service of process by them. Title: Unprofessional and Unhelpful Experience at Beverly Court Clerk's Office I had a very frustrating experience at the Beverly Court Clerk's Office. My speeding ticket had a typo -- the middle initial was incorrect ("J" instead of "S") and it even seemed to be tied to another person's information. I went to the clerk's office multiple times to fix this issue, but they kept sending me the wrong ticket. The staff were rude and dismissive, and they didn't take the time to verify my information or correct their mistake. Instead of helping, they gave me attitude and acted like it wasn't their problem.I also submitted a letter for the judge, which never reached its destination. I have been waiting about 3 months for a speeding ticket to be added to the online court system with no luck. I was told by the CHP to handle the ticket before the court date. I decided to head over to the Beverly Hills Courthouse. Plenty of metered parking around the area and the security was very friendly and I followed the directions to go to the 3rd floor. I went mid-morning and there was only a ten minute wait. I explained my situation to the clerk and he said it is common and can take up to five months. He told me to check online every once in a while but if it is not posted within a year it will not be counted against me. :) read more

Recently came here to pickup my marriage certificate and the whole process could not have been any simpler. Due to Covid a lot of people have been stating how hard it is to get a marriage license in LA County. I easily made an appointment in OC and was planning to get one there but decided to check online incase others had been wrong. To my surprise there was plenty of availability at the Beverly Hills Courthouse so I easily made my appointment. Upon arrival we found plenty of street parking out front but they do also have a parking lot. Once inside we needed to go through metal detectors and check in with security. Beverly Hills Courthouse is on Burton Way, next to the Beverly Hills library. There is limited metered street park and a private subterranean parking not free. As legal counsel in the private sector, compared to other Los Angeles county courthouses, this facility is by far the best, in terms of cleanliness and efficacious systems. But definitely needs progress as it is understaffed. Staff are generally helpful and nicer than most municipal offices. If you're in a hurry, this place does operate in a rather slow motion. Although all members of staffing are very attentive and accommodating. As a frequent visitor here to conduct legal matters for clients, most of my experience here has been thus far very pleasant. Again, there is always room for improvement to speed up long lines and the website should be updated so that nearly every tasks can be accomplished online for efficiency, which mitigates relying on the understaffed personnel. My five star rating is for the cleanliness of this courthouse, efficiency of processes and the although understaffed helpful employees. Parking is not free underneath this structure. There might be a street parking spot available, but be cautious and read the restricted parking signs, because you will get a ticket, even if you're one second late! IMPORTANT NOTE: Editing my review to add that the courthouse is not doing any wedding chapel services on 2/26 & 2/28! It is blocked out due to the election. I had a couple coming in from Australia and they had their flights booked and everything. I personally had very quick and easy experiences here, although I understand that most people don't, especially when dealing with traffic court. I went here twice, once on a Monday morning at 8am and on a Tuesday morning at 9:15am. For Monday, I managed to find one free street parking spot right after someone had left which was great. Otherwise, the street was pretty packed. Since the courthouse itself opens at 8am, but the staff doesn't open till 8:30am, I got there before 8:30am and there was already a decent amount of people waiting around. The second those doors opened, everyone RAN to get in line. But still, there weren't that many people there in my opinion. However, Tuesday mornings may be where it's at. I showed up a little later at 9:15am and the entire courthouse was empty. I only saw 4 other people in the building, and there were plenty of free street parking. Both times I were in and out of the building in maybe 15 minutes. read more

Wish I could give them a 0. By the way, this review only reflects on the Traffic Court division. My story: I've tried for 2 weeks on several different days and times according to their working hours to get ahold of someone I could speak to from the Beverly Hills Traffic Division through 2 different numbers (310) 281-2499 and (310) 281-2400 regarding my traffic ticket case status that has strangely gone into limbo 2 months after I've already sent in the payment and a request for a ticket contestation. Each time I was met with a wall of "All of our clerks are busy. Please hang up and try again" and getting disconnected immediately. There was no real process in their "automated call center" of getting queued in a line, a symptom I imagine would be unsustainable for any other actual company. After having moved out of LA after receiving the traffic ticket, I'm unable to visit in person nor find out wtf is going on with my case. Thankfully for Beverly Hills Traffic Court division, regardless of how badly they're operated and how many people they've caused headaches for, they're always giving away traffic tickets and will be well funded for life. I'm now giving up on following up since I couldn't reach an operator/clerk. What a disgrace of a service to California. Worse than the DMV, and they're already the standard of low. read more

I understand that COVID19 is happening but I got a citation a YEAR ago & then some & I'm over her trying to take care of it & they moved my court date 3 times. & this last time I went to the court house & "Debbie" tells me "you should have gotten a letter" of course I didn't get a letter. So I call in to speak with someone over the phone & I get hung up on more then once. Can't get a word in when you are talking to people here &&& to top it off they tell you to just miss your court date & then call tomorrow to see what the judge ruled. I and close family of my honorary son and daughter went to BH courthouse for their wedding. It took place in the chapel, which was so nicely done, I was impressed becuz I thought it was just going to be a room w a person to officiate the ceremony, did not expect the nice room, the beautiful flowered arch and the judge lady who officiated the ceremony. What an amazing individual, she spoke so beautifully and even read a poem, honestly she was better than anyone I have seen officiating a wedding! I wish we could hav access to her outside of the courthouse for future wedding ceremonies. She was so kind and patient, she waited till everyone took pics w the bride and groom which again I did not expect at all. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Of all the courthouses I have ever been to, this is certainly THE MOST DISORGANIZED. I ended up getting a traffic ticket on my way to work and because I was passing through cities, the CHP officer said that this courthouse would be the one to go to and contact. Keep in mind that i don't even live near this area either... Like every sane person who receives a ticket, I didn't think anything of it until a month later when I wanted to know what my ticket cost was. I go online and input my driver's license and nothing pulls up. Weird ... I input my ticket info and nothing comes up either... I diligently call the California Highway Patrol who can't seem to locate my ticket. I get transferred to the Beverly Hills CHP where they can't find it either. Finally I am transferred to the Beverly Hills courthouse and they said the ticket was processed a week after I received it but they were backed up and likely won't post the ticket online until a month later. Upset at the fact that I had now wasted an HOUR with no results, I hang up and wait it out. A month goes by... nothing. Another month goes by... nothing. A third month goes by... NOTHING. And now it has been four months since I received my ticket and they STILL cannot locate it anywhere. Now I'm being recommended to show up to court to appeal my ticket when I don't even know how much it costs and nobody can find it anywhere. They say you can pay online to save yourself some time away from work or school but I can't even do that. As a working professional I am now being inconvenienced because I have to take time off work to attend a court date which isn't even the end of it all because it's not even an official court hearing, thus making me waste EVEN MORE time!! And if that's not all, the cherry on top is that nobody ever seems to answer the damn phone and they're so freaking backdated that this courthouse can't even seem to fathom a freaking WAIT LIST on the phone! Instead, I call fifty times in a row just to hear an automated voice tell me that all callers are busy and to call back later... then it automatically hangs up. For the amount people pay for their stupid traffic tickets you would think that BH Courthouse has their shit together or at the very least they could hire to accommodate for the amount of asshole cops that give tickets to people who now need to call for their violations. This Morning, I had an opportunity to listen in on a public civil suit presented in courtroom 207 in Beverly Hills superior courthouse. Michael E. Whitaker was an excellent ruler. In my opinion, Whitaker is a fair judge and also an excellent listener. Whittaker showed no signs of prejudice or biased behavior. He let both parties deliberate before his ruling base on a motion error. Whittaker gave both parties thirty days to come up with a mutual agreement before his final ruling. I highly recommend anyone interested in law sit in on his cases. You will learn a lot. read more

This lady ogre named "ODELYA" who surprisingly got hired at the courthouse - God only knows how, is the most unprofessional and disrespectful person I have ever spoken to in my life. I work at a nearby store & she would always walk in as a customer & start complaining about her job, personal problems, and on top of that give every employee and my manager problems for the past couple of years. We would always forgive the way she would act for years already but I am so fed up that I have to say something! She would try to purchase items in the store, however, when it came down to inserting the chip from her credit card, she would always pull her card out of the card terminal and put it back inside then take it out and put it back in, just before the transaction would finish. And she would do this several times for 10 minutes just to avoid paying!! We would have to restart the ENTIRE transaction 10 TIMES. Are you THAT stingy? You have a choice to not purchase anything! A TOTAL WASTE OF OUR TIME AND EVERYONES TIME. How immature do you have to be? We have other customers waiting in line & we have to start babysitting a supposedly "grown woman?" It has been a constant irritation & displeasure helping her. Is this what the city is representing? Unqualified lack luster employees? Because if so, this is embarrassing to say the least. The BH court has the most incompetent Staff I have ever spoken to on the phone. I was told in court I was qualified for Traffic school, then a letter from the court confirming that and after I finished paying and doing traffic school the DMV rejected it? When I called the BH court over 4 times including the supervisor, each time I was told something different? I then spoke to the supervisor Deborah Jetter who doesn't even listen; she is just as Rude and talks over you as you are talking. She had all my info info and dates incorrectly, she told me something complete opposite of the staff told me and when I called the DMV they were just as confused as I was. The DMV decided to forward my case to the investigation unit. I don't know who hires these people at the court house on tax payer's money to give wrong information to the public. read more

Getting married is easy, maybe too easy. Divorce not so much. Trust me I've done both. Yup, marriage, divorce, thirty years in between now married again this past Friday; I finally got it right. A month earlier, Katherine at the Beverly Hills Courthouse made the online application we'd done in advance at home (you can complete the necessary forms in house on Third Floor computer) a snap, carefully explaining the rules and regs, collecting the non-refundable fee. Finally, with her assistance, we chose a date, avoiding the recent Mercury Retrograde, and learned we could bring up to twenty-five peeps to celebrate our union. If we hadn't had a witness, we could have bought one (a court employee) for $20. Deputy Commissioner William G. Kocol made our day, both literally and figuratively officiating. I feel lucky to have gotten through to a live person! I forgot to select the "pay for traffic school" option when I was paying a traffic ticket online. I called to ask if I could still pay for it separately since the case was marked as "closed" when I went searching for more options online. I was told to send the check directly to the court house. The associate who I spoke to was helpful and reminded me to include the citation number and note that the payment was related to traffic school. Received a correctable ticket for no front license plate in August 2014. Purchased the necessities from Autozone to affix a bracket, to hold the front plate. Had ticket signed off by CHP, Torrance location. Sent in ticket, plus check as for their administrative fee. Skip to December 2014; receive letter from DMV stating that this issue is outstanding and will result in license suspension if it's not resolved. Call the courthouse and I'm told that my case was sent to collections. I call collections and I'm told my case will be sent back to the court. Skip to today 12/10. Took the day off to handle this matter. Court once again, states they are unable to help me and directs me to their collections agency. I'm finally told by someone at the collection agency that if I pay the amount due, the matter is settled and closed. At this point, I don't care that it's thirty six times more than what I initially sent in, because if my license is suspended, it's not the end of the world, but it's definitely a pain in the ass. So, provided my information for payment and asked how would the verification be handled because my offense was a correctable one. I'm told they don't care and that payment is suffice. Communication skills lacking. Professional demeanor and attitude non-existent. No correspondence from the court. Very quick. Easy to get something done. If you need to go to a government office and you have the option to go here... do it. They are quick and friendly. Parking isn't easy but they have a garage (paid). Just suck it up and pay for the parking. Staff is very efficient including security staff - so from the minute you walk in, it's all good. I had an old ticket I needed to take care of at the BH Court. Everyone at the court was so nice and helpful. The lady at the clerk's office and everyone in the courtroom was great. But Judge Marsha Revel was amazing! Judge Revel was very fair and so funny. She made the experience for all of us very easy.
