The cabin was stocked with dishes, flatware, cookware, and condiments. There are no TV channels, they do provide some movies, if you bring your own, do not bring Blu-ray. Nice fire pit and grill, hot tub is very private. If you want a quiet, peaceful getaway, I recommend this cabin.

Our cabin was located at the end of a long, winding driveway. We could not see it behind the work truck parked in the driveway that was stuck in the snow. 3 times we tried our key in the wrong cabin. Tried to call the property manager twice but there was no service. We were so tired from working all day and then driving! Almost thought we were going to have to head straight back home. Finally we found our cabin about 1/4 mile from where we had to park our car. We were left with a plastic sled to pull our luggage and groceries for the weekend through the snow. All of this is understandable. Poor cell reception. Can't control the weather. We appreciated the sled. However, I wish the property manager had sent an email the morning of check in with a heads up about the driveway and parking and a better explanation of where we could find our cabin. I definitely would have packed much differently had I known we were kicking our stay off with such an adventure. Another note, the listing for our cabin displayed photos of a washer and dryer but when we arrived the machines were marked with a notice saying they were only to be used by housekeeping. Why advertise a feature that isn't actually available to your guests? Lastly, this rental company simply does not seem to believe in snow removal or using salt to prevent surfaces from icing over. The walkway to the check-in-office, steps to our cabin, and path to the hot tub were all covered in thick sheets of ice. Great potential but some kinks definitely need to be worked out. Felt like no one really cared to have our business or not.

Mixed Experience at Hemlock Treehouse - Stunning but Poorly Prepared for Winter…read more Hemlock Treehouse is a beautiful and unique getaway, but unfortunately, our experience was marred by poor winter preparedness and unexpected costs. While the treehouse itself was stunning, safety concerns made our stay challenging. There were no railings by the hot tub, which caused me to lose balance and fall--especially concerning in icy conditions. I slipped again on the untreated driveway the following day, as no salt had been put down. Despite reaching out multiple times with concerns about the weather, we were not allowed to cancel or reschedule. Despite our warnings, it was disappointing that no effort was made to prepare the property for winter conditions. Additionally, the pricing structure felt misleading. Beyond the daily rate, we were charged at least $200 in additional fees, including cleaning charges and insurance, despite leaving the space clean and causing no damage. We also incurred nearly $100 in taxes, bringing our one-night stay to around $850. There was no mention of a deposit beforehand, so I strongly recommend clarifying all fees before booking. Another concern was the lack of attention to detail. Upon arrival, we found a welcome sign with someone else's name, initially making us worry that the treehouse had been double-booked--an unsettling experience on our honeymoon. While it was a mistake, it indicated that our arrival had not been adequately prepared for. To add to this, the sheets had a noticeable stain, further diminishing the experience. While the location and ambiance were superb, the lack of winter preparedness and the high costs made for a frustrating experience. If you're considering a stay here in the colder months, be prepared for unsafe conditions and additional expenses. Would I return? Maybe in better weather--but certainly not in winter. Update: yep, I'm pretty sure I broke my elbow. Still hurts the same when pressure is applied to the location of the injury. Off to the doctor to verify after work.

The bathroom door stuck and was a pain to close, it was the same for the shower door as the door needed to be lifted in order to properly open or close the door. The kitchette has a microwave, coffee maker, mini fridge, stove, cutting board, sink, dishes, pans, and cutlery as well as soap and dishrags. We used the microwave to make instant pasta and oatmeal so it worked fine and the bowls were microwave safe. The bathroom had towls and washcloths, but be sure to pack your batheoom supplies including hand soap (toilet paper was supplied). The bed was made with fresh linens and a blanket with a spare blanket in the dresser. There was a ceiling fan, but lighting was lamps or wall mounted. No wifi, but good cell signal plus the tv had a vcr and dvd player though we didn't try it. The back wall was of glass windows and a sliding door with a screen door. Sadly no curtains, so sunrise woke us often, be sure to pack eye masks. The hot tub was running on arrival and easily adjustable with jets and lighting optional. The cover balcony patio had not only the hot tub, but seating and hooks to hang towls from. We saw deer and hummingbirds while looking out into the forest. It was very peaceful. Booking was over the phone and a receipt was left by the cabin key.

Pros: *The cabin came equipped with everything we needed - towels, washclothes, dish soap, cooking utensils, bedding, etc. *Cabin was clean and smelled great when we arrived. *Plenty of room for our group of 7. *No neighbors - our cabin was on it's own plot of land and the nearest neighbor was at least a mile away. It was quiet and we didn't have to worry about the kids playing outdoors. *Hot tub! We chose this cabin in part because it offered a hot tub and we were not disappointed. Their hot tub was modern and wonderful and we used it every night we were there. *Beds were super comfy and bedding was nice and clean-smelling. *Small water feature in the backyard had live frogs and our children had a blast watching them! *Upstairs and downstairs patio - upstairs patio was directly off the living room and had a sturdy railing going all the way around so the kids could be out there blowing bubbles or playing without our having to worry about them. *Great fire pit. *Grounds were very nice and well-kept. View off the back patio was fantastic! Cons: *No bathroom on main floor. You have to go up or down to use the bathroom. This was an issue for us since we had a 2-year-old in our group that had to be walked to and from the bathroom. *Cabin does show it's age a bit. Overall, the cabin was very nice but it could use some updating. One of the windowsills downstairs was covered in some sort of mold and several of the patio chairs (and a recliner in the living room) were broken or in need of repair. The fridge had a note telling us not to overload with items or it would stop working which seemed a little strange. *The stairs were an issue for us as the stairs leading upstairs were open slat and our little girls were fearful when ascending. The stairs leading downstairs were wide open and we were constantly watching out for the 2-year-old so she wouldn't inadvertently fall down. If you're nearby, check out the following attractions: Hocking Hills Adventures (http://www.hockinghillscanoeing.com/) - we went canoeing there and it was great! If you haven't canoed before, please ask the staff for some pointers. They're personable and friendly! Hocking Hills Market (http://www.hockinghillsmarket.com/) - Fantastic little shopping spot we discovered. Full of fun and funky shops and they have a small miniature golf course for the kids in your group. Pizza Crossing (http://www.pizzacrossing.com/) - Great pizza place suggested by the locals and we weren't disappointed! Just down the street from canoeing so we canoed and then called to order and picked up on our way back to our cabin.

Strong winds caused us to be without power for almost 24 hours. Company suggestion was for us to checkout (with no refund). Newer LG appliances (filtered water & ice maker in the fridge was a plus), cool bathroom, cozy oversized chair, great fireplace on rear covered deck and amazing rockers w/cup holders on front and rear porches. Now upon opening the door, the first thing I said was, "WOW! That's a weird smell." Unfortunately, we were smelling sewer smells the entire time we were there. I contacted the email from the site the first night and they responded the next day. While I was in the bathroom tub (shades open) a gentleman put his ladder on the side of the bathroom window and started climbing up, while someone chatted with my husband at the door. Needless to say I was mortified and embarrassed that we weren't initially made aware that someone was coming until after they had arrived. The person climbing the ladder definitely got an eye full.....Anyway, they said the vent pipes weren't removed once the cabins construction was done and the traps may have gotten dry. We heard them sawing something & then they left soon after. We ran water, as instructed after they cut the tops off the pipes and were advised Joey would be back with a top to cover another pipe on the roof. The smell initially got a little better, but within a couple hours it was back full force. We again contacted Rob again, who sent Joey back out to address the issue. This time, he put bleach down the drains, gave a can of fabreeze, a pumpkin candle and 2 renuzit toilet scents. Now, we had been burning candles in all the rooms from the moment we arrived and kept the front & rear doors open to try and air out the smell. NONE of that helped. It even began to stink outside, so no handing out on the front or rear porch unless we needed cell signal. So although the thought was nice, 1 single wick candle, 1 can of fabreeze and some toilet scents were NOT going to cut it. The smell was not as strong after the bleach, but never did go away. In fact, when we ran the dishwasher before leaving, the smell returned full force throughout the cabin, especially in the bathroom and rear porch area. THE SMELL ALONE RUINED OUR ATTEMPTED ROMANTIC GETAWAY. While I appreciate them trying to solve this issue, there wasn't any follow-up to confirm resolution. I had to keep updating Rob. At least Rob did say he was "sorry it's doing what it's doing" regarding the odor. Honestly, I cannot begin to explain to you how utterly disgusting it is to constantly smell sewage inside and in the immediate surrounding exterior of one's "luxury retreat." Not once in the decade plus of coming to HH have we EVER had this happen......we've stayed with MANY companies, but this is a first. Lastly a few things could have been done better. When we arrived, it would have been nice if the front and rear covered decks were swept. There was a lot of dead bugs, leaves & bottle caps from alcohol (ppl before us) laying around on the decks. I swept that up myself, not a deal breaker. There were excessive dead bugs on the living room floor - I also swept up, not a deal breaker we're in the woods. The issue is that it made me question how clean the cabin actually was. Therefore, I took it upon myself to clean the cabin with the products I'd brought to be sure. The hot tub, while up to temp at 102 degrees had brownish grey water and looked filthy. VERY UNINVITING, especially when the pool chemicals were neatly portioned out and could have been dumped into the tub when it was prepped for the next guest. I get that the water may be discolored from minerals, but this was just a dirty hot tub. I make that assumption as when we took off the lid, there wasn't even the faintest hint of chemicals from the water (which one can usually smell when they've been added) upon removal of the lid. Overall, we wanted to love this cabin, but didn't. The constant, horrendous sewer smell was a deal breaker and for the cost, I NEVER EVER expected to have an unresolved odor issue continue

We had tried to call the owner but they were closed so we chalked it up to a loss & figured we'd just use it the next night on our last stay. We went hiking all day and came back under the assumption that the water would have heated up, only to find that it was not working at all. Again we tried to call but they were closed. The price point for this cabin is extremely high for a tiny box with no working hot tub. 3. So, being a fan, I couldn't say no. We went on a Friday and stayed until Sunday in the Dalia. They have four place with a Hobbit feel and others that are more Moroccan in their feel. It's a pretty big place a very close to lots of hiking areas as well as places to eat in Logan. You'll need a passcode to get into the places so you can't simply speak "friend" and enter. Each place has its own cedar hot tub which we definitely indulged in nightly. There's a sauna there too but you have to pay extra. We really enjoyed our place but we did have a minor issue with the kitchen area. There's no oven but just a two burner cooktop which is a little tricky to operate. We figured it out after a while. Still, overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and the owners were easy to contact if we needed anything. This made for a great weekend getaway and one any LOTR fan would surely love. I was impressed how the inside is inviting and cozy. The beds are comfortable, love the bathroom shower, the fire pit and grill area. And last the hot tub, we definitely took advantage of using it quite often! It wasn't too hot and was comfortable. The sauna is an extra charge if you want to partake. My only con is the dining room. The chairs were not leveled with the table so we had to eat in the living room. And last, if you like to cook, they don't have an oven and they have a small electric stove which was a challenge to figure how to turn off. Overall, My Mr and I had a wonderful stay.
