Cheese from West River is great, as is the produce and baked goods from Cider Hill Farm. I can't wait for June. Come early, and be prepared to park far away. It's crowded.

For one thing, it's one of the few farmer's markets open on Saturdays, which is great for my schedule. On the other hand it means that it's real busy. We've never not been able to get a parking spot at the Marblehead Veteran's Middle School where it's held, but we've had to do the "wait and stalk the lady with the bags" thing. Oh and get there early, but I guess that applies to all farmer's markets; the best stuff goes quick. Most of the vendors are regulars but there are always new people coming and going. Our favorites include the two stalls selling cheese, one from Vermont selling cow and sheep cheese and the other from Mass. selling goat cheese. I forget the name of the goat cheese farm right now, but the lady who makes and sells it is so nice and remembers us from year to year. Great Harvest Bakery (which is located in Beverly) also comes every week with some great bread. There's at least four fruit and vegetable stands, an organic beef stand, an organic pork stand (mmm, great bacon and chops); a Vietnamese farm stand, and more. They also have people selling crafts and usually some kind of entertainment for the kids. It's a real lively family-friendly hootenany. It's not just food shopping; it's a fun excursion. Oh and let's not forget that the fresh fruit and vegetables are fantastic! The market is open Saturdays, June to October, 9 am to noon.

Connors Farm: Not Your Average Fall Farm Experience!…read more While visiting my sister in Boston, I got to tag along for her family's annual trip to Connors Farm! My sister, brother-in-law, and their friends visit every year thanks to one of their friends who hosts a Family Day through her company and invites practically everyone she knows. Since I was in town, I got to join in on the fun! Now, they kept telling me how AMAZING this place was, but I wasn't entirely convinced. I've been to plenty of fall farm festivals, and they're usually some variation of apple picking, cider donuts, hayrides, and corn mazes. Cute, but nothing I hadn't seen before. Well, let me tell you...I was WRONG! Connors Farm is less of a traditional fall farm and more of a full-blown FALL CARNIVAL! Let's start with the FOOD because they did not come to play! There were SO many options! Chicken tenders, fries, pizza, pulled pork and chicken sandwiches, brisket, mac and cheese, fried chicken -- you name it! And the desserts?! Funnel cakes, fried Oreos, apple cider donuts, apple crisp with ice cream, and plenty of other sweet treats. Basically, if you're trying to make healthy decisions, this might not be the place for you. For drinks, they had plenty of Pepsi products, hot and cold apple cider, hot chocolate, and even slushie sodas. One thing worth mentioning: NO alcohol! They do offer nonalcoholic beers, though, and you definitely want to read those labels carefully because some look just like the real thing. Now, the ACTIVITIES?! This is where Connors Farm really shines! There is SO much to do, especially if you're bringing kids! Corn mazes and apple picking The Putnamville Railroad train ride and hayrides Giant jumping pillows and an in-ground moonbounce HUGE colorful slides that you ride down on sacks An apple-shooting game where you launch apples at targets in the woods Carnival-style games, including basketball and skee-ball ‍ Ropes courses, pedal carts, Fort Connors, and multiple playgrounds And that's not even everything! There's genuinely enough to keep families entertained for HOURS. I completely understand why my sister and her friends make this an annual tradition. A few things to know before you go! Weekday admission is listed at $15.99 online or $20.99 at the gate, and children ages one and under get in free with a paying adult. Parking is also FREE! Admission includes plenty of activities, including the train ride, corn maze, hayrides, ropes course, jumping pillows, pedal carts, Fort Connors, and play areas. Some specialty activities may cost extra, so keep that in mind. And pay attention to the rules because they're pretty strict: No backpacks No smoking No outside food or beverages Plan accordingly, especially if you're bringing little ones! Overall, Connors Farm completely exceeded my expectations! I went in thinking this would be another cute little fall outing and quickly realized why everyone was hyping it up. There's an incredible variety of food, activities for all ages, and enough entertainment to make an entire day of it. Whether you're going with kids, friends, or just want to embrace all things fall, Connors Farm is absolutely worth visiting! Would I go back? ABSOLUTELY! And next time my sister tells me something is worth the hype, maybe I'll just believe her the first time.

When we went to the front desk, I showed them the $80 transaction proving I had just paid for four admissions. But here's the part that is genuinely unbelievable: the front desk employee said, verbatim, "Yes, I remember you got four tickets, and I watched you put it on him." So there was literally no dispute. Their own employee confirmed that I paid for my son's admission AND that she personally watched me put his wristband on him. A man was then called over and, despite hearing this, repeatedly told me that because my two-year-old no longer had his wristband, I hadn't purchased his admission. I kept explaining that I had. I showed him the payment. His own employee told him I had. He kicked my entire family out anyway. They told me they processed a full refund, which I will update this review to confirm once it appears on my card. I can understand having a wristband policy. I cannot understand accusing a customer of not paying when you have both proof of payment AND an employee standing there confirming she personally watched the wristband go onto the child's wrist. Absolutely appalling way to treat a family over a two-year-old losing a wristband. We will never return. This is the guy who clearly has an ax to grind with a two year old. I'd be careful with this place- clearly a scam.

The Garden School is designed for young adults and teenagers to come and learn farming in real time within their own community. The farm stand teaches youth about business, interaction with the public, selling produce and flowers and customer service. They can also learn how to run a small farm. Working just a few hours per week, one can gain valuable hands-on experience on a real community garden/farm working whatever aspect they choose or they could learn the entire operation. Jon and Ben who run the Garden School are fantastic and patient teachers who love working with our youth and love what they are doing providing a valuable service to this community. The Farm Stand is a great alternative to mass made/chemistry laden produce. This is a place to buy truly fresh picked (that morning or maybe right then as you are buying) produce and flowers grown the all natural way like you would do in your own backyard garden. You can See, Smell and Taste the difference and it cannot get any fresher! Check out my photos and you will see what I am talking about. This is my go to place to volunteer. It is outdoors in the fresh air and it is an absolutely wonderful group of people and an outstanding garden and food stand.
