Lovely! Nice wide trails for bikers, walkers and horses. Very well maintained and lovely. Lots of parking, wide open space and cows to moo at.

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOve over you negative review! This place was so cute. My friend and I are too old to play on a swing but we did. We also spent too much time talking to the cows and the goats. There is so much to do on the grounds I wish I lived closer so I could spend more time there. I would suggest an afternoon wandering around if you are in the neighborhood.

I visited Appleton Farms when I attended a lecture organized by The Trustees. It was an interesting lecture with a delicious dinner. I really suggest checking out the lectures that The Trustees offers at their various properties. The space where the lecture and associated dinner was held was beautiful. Exposed wooden beams, long wooden tables with benches, and string lights over head added some fun sparkle. It would be a fun place for a rustic wedding. So much charm. The best part of the night was driving in on their very long unpaved driveway and passing by their grazing cows. One babe broke away from the rest and was just hanging out next to the road. It was adorable and the funniest quick moment to see this guy checking out the group of us coming in for a dinner.

This is a review for their fall family festival. 5 stars. We will go back year after year for as long as we live here.

We took our dog on a play date with my father's dog and it was so much fun. Leashes are required during certain times of the year, especially when birds are nesting, but it wasn't required when we went and the dogs had a blast running through the huge field and playing. I observed so many birds - including a hawk that flew directly overhead, wow! It was cool when I went so not too busy but I can see it being quite popular on less windy, warmer days. You have to be aware that there is some private property as there are actual homes scattered around the edges of the public area. Parking is free and the lot was pretty big. Gorgeous spot to walk around - we spent over an hour easily.

Only 1 hour by car from Boston/Cambridge. Oh, and... this place is STUNNINGLY beautiful. Absolutely breathtaking. Now on to more good news: it's free of charge and open 7 days a week. Ample parking at the trail head, and a totally decent compost toilet is in the main barn (unlocked on weekends till 4 pm). The Cox reservation was once the home of a mural artist, and is today the headquarters of the Greenbelt Association, a chain of parks on the north shore. To this day the reservation has kept its artsy flair. Painters flock there to capture the stunning views of the Essex River and the golden marshes.

The park is open from sun up to sun down. Parking is by a self-pay meter and is $5, entry to park itself is free. My boyfriend and I came here on a whim one crisp Saturday morning in September. We brought our mountain bikes and spent about two hours leisurely exploring the trails, which are paved only half of the time, but still well-maintained. There are many lush sights to see, both with colored/green trees and the Ipswich river (along the path) was a pretty sight as well, with turtles/ducks swimming nearby. We saw only a few people while on the trails, mainly people on bikes, but we did see some walkers as well. If you decide to walk, I would definitely suggest grabbing a trail map at the beginning of the trail, as there are many different routes along the way and it can get confusing without one. There is a giant treeless field at the center of the park which made for a great landscape for my boyfriend and me to take pictures using our tripod/camera. Overall, I would highly recommend this park for all ages/types of people!

Google maps directed us the wrong way, to the southern entrance, which is now an exit only! We had to drive 10 minutes round to get to Northern entrance.
