I took my soft locs out and then searched Yelp for something with good reviews that was close to me and open and came across this salon. The salon is cute, spacious and clean. Maria was working by herself today but God knew I needed my hair done so she was finishing up someone as I walked in and had me at the shampoo bowl within 10 minutes. She scratched my scalp good with the shampoo and massaged my scalp with the conditioner. Then off to her chair. This was the first time I have ever had a blow out at a Dominican salon with no pain! The pain and feeling like my hair was being burned was why I stopped getting my hair straightened. She blew me out then flat ironed it before giving me a trim and sent me on my merry way in just over an hour. To note, 3 people walked in at different points of me getting my hair done. She greeted them and let them know that there would be a wait because she was alone. They all agreed to wait and she did not rush through my hair to get to the next client. She said it was just her because no one wanted to work after the holiday so I'm hoping it's better staffed on a normal day when it will be inevitably more busy because I definitely plan on returning.

She's conveniently located on Branch Avenue less than 10 minutes from the metro where I park to go into DC everyday. I made the appointment and confirmed online. I arrived on time and she offered to let me sit in the kitchen to finish the food I'd brought. She did have a head in her chair at the time, but I wasn't over surprised. It was a cold, rainy Thursday evening. She got me in quickly and shampooed and conditioned me herself to sit under the dryer (of course) and then she quickly wrapped one client before me and got me in the chair. All-in-all I was out in under 2-1/2 hours and I consider that a complete win. My hair was LAID and I absolutely loved my curls. Whitney does an excellent job with natural hair. I don't need a whole silk press because my hair, while curly, is fine (3c/4a) but she still did a good job of determining the heat setting from my iron (I always bring my own now) and was willing to use my heat protectant, which I appreciated. 10/10

I asked for FIVE medium braids and 4 small braids in between each medium. Well she obviously gave me what SHE wanted me to have which was 5 HUGE braids, 1 medium braid and 5 small braids. When asked why the braids are so large and differ in size, she told me I didn't have enough hair for the final braid that was dangling because it was too big (a bogus excuse as to why she MESSED up). NOOO, She just didn't part it correctly. However, I asked if I can come back for correction she coldly told me NO. I paid via CASH APP. For some reason she doesn't allow customers to pay via credit card. I sent a request for a refund and heard nothing back. PLEASE STOP SUPPORTING THIS PLACE!!!!!

Elena, the hair stylist, was super fun and sweet to be around. I really loved her energy and she made my experience at the salon really comfortable. I am happy to say Elena was able to accommodate me and make sure that my new hair color matched the tips of my hair. After washing and conditioning hair fish smell was still there. Hair sheds A LOT! Hair tangles A LOT! Ends of the hair are very nappy! Hair does not hold a curl or it's pattern. The hair is Amazon quality. I contacted Bundles by Renz on the day of install no reply. I resent the message a few days later still no reply. I wrote under a picture on the Instagram page asking to be contacted no reply and the message was immediately deleted. I wrote the same message under another picture the next day and the same thing the message was deleted. So not only is the hair trash the customer service is trash.
