After trying several times to get a reservation without success (word to the wise: call 2-3 days in advance, more if it's for the weekend!), I finally planned ahead and made a reservation for their anniversary week. This meant they were offering a set three course menu only: starter and main course were both to share, and then we each got to pick a dessert. Starter and main were tapas style (several small dishes), and the flavors were interesting and diverse, but what I will always remember about Betty's is the pistachio cake. I am currently trying to recreate it at home (all the owner would tell me is it has no eggs - it's their specialty and apparently the recipe's secret!), and it's all I think about. It was dense and moist and had the moist delicious lemon frosting. We also had a very nice organic red wine. I was a bit surprised when the bill came and it was nearly 100 euros - for the 3-course meal for two (around 30ish each), a bottle of still water, two glasses of wine and a pot of tea it seemed a tiny bit steep. But it was indeed delicious. The owner was extremely enthusiastic. The other slightly strange thing was the atmosphere - it's not a big place, but there was only one empty table, but when we walked in it was very quiet and we felt like the whole room was listening to us (not true I don't think, but that's what it felt like). But overall I'm a huge fan and will be back! read more
