The best kept secret in all of Ventura! If you know about Betty Belts, you're one of the lucky ones. I came here a couple months ago after getting a recommendation from the owner of a thrift store on Main. I met the owner, Donna, and she was the sweetest! As an avid beachcomber, I was thrilled to hear that she accepted sea glass as currency in her shop. My girls and I came in this past weekend for matching jewelry (it was their birthdays!). We fell in love with the Leyla ring. I can't stop looking at the iridescent abalone shell on mine! We also got adorable swell rings to stack on top and they match PERFECTLY! My best friend got a gorgeous blue two tone sea glass pendant necklace. For jewelry handmade in Bali with genuine hand-picked seaglass and quality metals, the prices were actually very reasonable! Our Sterling Silver Leylas were $24 each. The Swells were $19 each. The gold vermeil sea glass necklace was $62 for the pendant and $20 for the chain. I feel like every sea glass lover has been to or has heard about Betty's Belts. Usually when you see someone wearing a piece of seaglass jewelry here in Ventura you will undoubtedly be told, "I got it from Betty's Belts!" Well, I love sea glass and so I finally had to go into the shop that creates all of these masterpieces I would see around town. This shop is a sea glass hunters dream. They have so many different jewelry pieces to choose from, all different sizes, styles and price points. The sea glass is set in beautiful settings, you can just spend so much time admiring each piece. I have been 3 times now and the service has always been excellent. They can be busy at times but they are very aware of the customer flow and helping people in the order as they have walked in. Everyone has been so helpful and kind. But what I am so excited to share is about the process of making a custom piece. You can bring your own sea glass, and set it in any of the designs that they have available! I chose to make a ring out of a piece of seaglass I found on a recent trip to the Bay Area. The process was very easy. They have a selection of rings that you can try on to find the perfect ring size, and then they ask you how you want the stone to lay. Depending on the size you can add an engraving on the back. The order takes about 2-3 months to be made and you pay for the item(s) when you receive them. This is such a beautiful gift idea, or like for me a very special way to remember a meaningful moment. The cost is what that design originally would be if you bought a piece that was already made, plus $10 for it to be customized. Overall its a wonderful shop. They have some art pieces also, and other gift items and jewelry that isn't related to sea glass. Very cute items, mainly jewelry at affordable prices. Leave plenty of time for their process.... ANYTHING you want to try on is treated as if you are requesting a high end item at Tiffany's. Their process is #1 you point to the item, #2 the friendly salesperson goes behind the counter and pulls an item out of a huge bin with many more, #3 the friendly salesperson makes a production of putting the item in a little wood dish and handing it to you #4 now you can try it on. It is a little entertaining but can be slow. Quite a bit of showmanship for trying on items. Worth stopping at if in area- cute beach vibe jewelry. read more

Wow... I don't know where to start with this one because I cannot say enough good things about this place! I am a huge fan of this Ventura shop and what they stand for, as I love the ocean and all things beach & sunshine. It started when my family first purchased one of their "surfite" pendants (made of upcycled surfboard resin) for me as a gift at Monterey Bay Aquarium, which I really loved and still do to this day. I leave it on 24/7 as a base pendant using a shorter cord for stacking with other chains (it showers well being surfboard resin). That pendant introduced me to the Betty Belts brand. I've never seen creations like my pendant before, so I checked out videos online about their jewelry creation process (another one of their specialties is jewelry made from sea glass). Since then, I've placed quite a few orders for additional trinkets (cords / pendants / rings) from their online store. I'm hoping to be able to add a matching surfite bracelet to my current pendant, but since the pieces are created from surfboard resin randomly, being able to obtain a bracelet with the exact same colours will be extremely difficult! It's a sidequest for now since I may never find one. The purchases have gone very smoothly, and all of the employees I've interacted with so far have been extremely helpful & friendly. I want to give a special thank-you to the store's owner, Donna, who has personally gone above & beyond to resolve the few issues with my orders and made sure that everything was right. Even though they are a small shop, do not hesitate to order online here as the customer service has been exceptional! i've purchased a few cute little numbers here and they've been so fantastic!!! on my recent visit i spent around 100~ dollars and was very excited to wear out my finds, but the seaglass ring i purchased (i believe named the "annalie" ring) has left a horrible stain on my finger D: i couldn't believe it as the three other rings i purchased have been with me in the shower, at the beach, in the drain even (lol) and never once tarnished or left my fingers discolored in the slightest (photos attached.) i thought maybe it was from some other costume pieces i wore so i tested it out on a finger that has had no jewelry of any kind since then and there is the same discoloration :( i'm thinking maybe it's because of the spiral design, MAYBE, but i'm not 100% sure. i checked online and the ring is supposedly made from sterling silver like all of my other rings so i'm really sad about this!! i'm leaving a 4 star review because my other experiences have been wonderful and the jewelry is always beautiful but i would like some more info on why this might be happening. update: the lovely owner gave me some instruction on what might have happened during the cleaning process of the jewelry-- so i went and polished it with some hot salt water and a cloth and it absolutely did the trick!!! the ring is a bit brighter and no green marks so far :) thank you donna for being awesome!!!! read more

The jewelry is really nice and i have a few rings from here but the employees are really not welcoming. My friend and I went to look at jewelry because we had pieces we wanted to trade in using the buy back program they offer. Nobody helped us for quite some time and the owner was very loudly expressing her frustration about the lack of help her employees were giving her which was really awkward. When we finally got help the owner tried to talk us out of doing the buy back because it took too long and is too much of a process on the weekend. They were busy that day but there was no limitations on the days you could do buy back process and my friend was visiting from out of town. After we insisted, she barely looked at our jewelry and said she couldn't take them due to water damage and offered very little for the one that wasn't. She also walked away from us to talk to someone mid-sentence. We ended up taking our original pieces and leaving without buying anything, and wasting almost an hour. I just found this shop based on coworker recommendations. I'm not sure how I have never heard of it before. It has such beautiful jewelry. It is unique but so pretty. It is very expensive, but it's all handmade and sea glass so it's understandable. Ordering online the jewelry comes quickly and well packaged. Inside the store is beautiful. It's so hard not to keep buying, I have spent so much recently, online and in the store. They have betty bucks where you can earn points to get dollars off on the next order after buying jewelry. I spent hours inside their shop recently. Tip, the earrings are very hard to get on and off, but they told me it is because surfers wear them so that makes sense. At least I won't be losing them. If you love beautiful jewelry or looking for a gift, I highly recommend this store! My sister had so much fun in this store too! My FAVORITE place to buy my jewelry.. the rings are beautiful, and everyone is super sweet. I recently purchased an online order in which my package was switched with another customer's. A few days later I received a text asking me to look at the package and see if in fact they had made a mistake, and I did end up having the wrong item in my package. The employee was very helpful to find me the right size piece, color and chain size all for a decent price. While the jewelry can keep me occupied for hours, I am always without a doubt disappointed by the customer service. I visited today to grab a surf resin CA shaped necklace. When I entered the store I was not greeted by the girl who sat on the steps, or the two girls behind the counter. When I asked for help it was followed by "What do you want?". Not as malicious as it sounds, but definitely not customer friendly. I checked out and left. No one cared to greet me at any point, nor did they thank me for the business.
