I've always kinda liked Bett's Big T but also used to have reservations about it. Back circa 2015, it was pretty run down, looked pretty grim honestly. I guess it began as a truck stop decades ago and then became solely a restaurant. Anyways, they have had a cosmetic refresh, painting the building, adding cute signage including some features explaining Bett's long history, and just made the dining rooms a down-home but clean and inviting place now. This goes a long way: I am all for hole-in-the-wall restaurants but you don't want a place to look dirty, either. Bett's no longer does. It looks comfortable and plain-spoken, honest, and home town now. The food has always been good. You get a menu dinner or daily special--things like chicken fried steak or liver and onions or fried mullet--and a choice of three sides. The sides range from mac-n-cheese and collards to normally a couple homemade desserts: the peach cobbler and strawberry cake both are not to be missed. Portions are generous. Their Friday and Saturday all-you-can-eat seafood dinner is also a real deal and good food. Red velvet cake, caramel cake, and lemon cake are hits too but less frequent in their menu appearances. Ford hook limas sometimes show up too, slowly cooked with bacon or ham and are awesome. The painting and general interior and exterior refresh really went a long ways with me to have greater confidence in Bett's. It's now easily a place I rank with some of the region's best country/Southern cooking restaurants. read more

Love this place as a mid point between my home and office. It's a quirky restaurant with a bathroom that has a sink on the outside of the bathroom! The food selection is very diverse and plentiful. The prices are between $12 and $20'ish per person. The fried chicken comes with 2 or 3 sides and or a desert. Service is fast and friendly and they are very attentive to the customers needs. They recently remodeled parts and the place is even better. read more

First time here and it was amazing. Just left Manatee springs and was looking for something to eat we were planning on stopping at zaxbys but saw this place from the parking lot and decided to give it a try.. Upon walking in the inside was pretty clean it looked like a little mom and pop shop. The workers were super friendly as well. We got our drinks and placed our orders and within less than 10 minutes we got our food. The plates looked so delicious! I got the fried shrimp platter with fries and my boyfriend got the smoked ribs with collards, mac n cheese, and peach cobbler. Everything was amazing.. We didn't really care for the peach cobbler, there wasn't anything wrong with it i just don't like cobbler. Our total for everything came out to about $33 Definitely give them a taste if you're in the area! read more

We tried the smoked rib special and it was incredible--every bite was savory and hit the spot! The portions were very generous, especially the huge side of gravy they included. For sides, we loved the mashed potatoes, collard greens, green beans, and lima beans. Everything was seasoned perfectly. To top it off, the service was exceptional. You get so much food for a great price that you almost can't finish it. The ambience of food and they always keep your drinks full. We were traveling home from GA when I began checking the reviews on Yelp for a place to eat. I told my husband that we'd just find a place that has a lot of cars out front , which happened to be Bett's. It is a good old country diner. We both chose to eat a country dinner which included 3 sides. Sides included peach cobbler and red velvet cake. I'm a snob when it comes to fresh coleslaw. I was not disappointed. My liver and onions and my husband's grilled pork chops were great. There was too much to eat so we brought our peach cobbler to eat @ home. The staff was friendly. I would stop by again. read more

We went last night (New Year's Day), and I ordered the prime rib. It was absolutely horrible. Worst cut of prime rib I've ever had. Evidently the cook had done something to it to screw it up. I'll give them another chance in the future, but it was horrible. read more

With new owner food quality went down and prices went up. I had lunch there today at 11:05am, here are my findings. I went there for Breakfast at 11:05 am on a Saturday, but they cut off breakfast at 11am, yes on a weekend! Chicken Fried Steak: Cold when served; Gravy; Cold when served. Mash Patatoes: Cold when served. Collards: Cold when served. Glass of ice water: Cold when served and they charged me $.50 for the water. Pay by credit card or debit card, they charge you more. Whats next? Perhaps charging customers for a straw, napkin, or use if restroom. New owner must be from NYC. I will NOT be eating there again. read more

Betts has not changed much since the early 70's. The food is good the portions are generous and the people are friendly. It's a country style place with home cooked food that has great breakfast. I always stop here because it breaks back beauty memories of my poppa Jack. Every winter we he would take me hunting north to Perry and we'd leave at 5 am, stop at Betts for breakfast then head to the camp. I miss him immensely. read more

The place was clean but lacked any charm of yesteryear as one might think due to the signage out front. What I'm confused & rightfully upset about was their attitude toward pricing. We got the special which clearly indicated on their board as $12.95. We were charged more & had to ask for a receipt to figure out what the difference was. Apparently you don't get a ticket at your table. They ring up your meals & you pay whatever they say. When we questioned the price difference the cashier & now waitress both said & I quote... "it's Sunday". Ummm what? Nowhere on the menu, in the restaurant, from the waitress or on the special board did it indicate there would be an increase in food price due to it being Sunday. Kind of ho hum. The food there seems to run hot and cold however, since the new longer took over things has seemed to get better we go there probably twice a month for either breakfast or dinner service is pretty good however, the dining room room needs a thorough cleaning doesn't look like it's been clean since 1950. read more

Bett's in Chiefland has been around as long as I can remember. The food is always pretty good, and I can't say I have ever had a bad meal here. Last week, I had the rib-eye steak with a big side salad and it was great. The service was prompt and the waitress was cordial. Waited 50 minutes for the food and when the cook finally dropped it off, we lacked silverware and ketchup (for fries). Our waitress walked by a few times not seeing (?) our hand up for help then I went up to the cashier to get silverware and found ketchup on another table. I didn't get a side I ordered but ok, no sense even asking for that lol The busboy was really nice and actually brought our drinks when we first got there. We felt unwelcomed as everyone else seemed to enjoy service. The food was not great and cold. I don't leave reviews bc I think this happens in life but we will never go there again. read more

We Came by for brunch on a Saturday. I ordered a tomato and onion omelette with hash downs and biscuit and chicken strips with collards, mac n cheese and greek potato. My omelette came with cheese but did not send back. The chicken strips and sides were good. We had to ask for bbq sauce twice and to have coffee refilled. As soon as we walked in the lady at the front directed us to find our own table , I also had to grab our own high chair which I really wouldn't have minded if Someone would've came up and at least acknowledged us. Good decent food. Ask the servers whats good. Had the chicken fried steak others had roast beef w gravy, no complaints. Wasn't daring enuf to try the swamp cabbage (my partner said it was cooked palmetto but I don't know) the squash casserole was tasty but did not look like squash cuz it was quite mixed up and chopped and did not resemble squash. Excellent service. I had smoked ribs that were very good. Very good collard greens. I asked for the broccoli salad. They were out and brought cucumber and tomato salad instead. I love this quaint super friendly place. It use to be a truck stop years ago, and I love that they didn't take away that charm with all modern decor, when they switched over to just a restaurant. It's my "go to" restaurant every time I'm in town. The food is always delicious and the proper temperature. The dishes are always clean and everyone is always friendly. I noticed in someone else's review that they said that there was no place to wash their hands after using the bathroom. To that person, I would like to say "if you will bring your nose down a few notches, you can clearly see that there is a nice sink, mirror, soap, paper towels and a trash can, right beside of the door you used to enter the bathroom. I understand that it's difficult to see what's beneath you when you carry yourself so high. But that's why you have the rest of us, with our feet on the ground, to help you navigate and help you out of the rain so you don't drown. Sorry folks, I'm PLAIN And I just call it as I see it.
