Of all the companies we've ever done business with in the 32+ years we've been married, this…read morebusiness is #1. Top notch in EVERY way. We knew we had a good company the first call we made to this business to inquire about building our first new house. Dan Miller spent about 45 minutes on the phone with me even though he was extremely busy, he never rushed me and took time to answer all of my questions. I remember him saying, "We build every home as if WE are going to live in it ourselves." That really resonated with me. We had our initial consultation in his office in November, and showed him a floor plan of what we were interested in. After a few days, he came up with the perfect plan for us, tweaked it a bit to fit our needs, and said he had already built a house with this existing floor plan recently. He even gave us the address of this house so that we could drive by to take a look at it. Before we signed the contract, we spent a lot of time doing our homework regarding prices, checking references, checking with former customers of his and even touring a few former customers' homes to see them for ourselves. Our life savings was going into this house and we could NOT afford to make a mistake. Every house he built was beautiful and the craftsmanship was excellent. Every single former customer we talked to had nothing but good to say about Miller Custom Homes. Not one person could come up with a single negative. We signed our contract in February and in early March, digging began on our new house. We were very fortunate that we had a very mild, snow-free March as the crew was able to work the entire month of March. Every single worker on all of their crews were not only excellent workers and always on time, but friendly and accommodating as well. Not once did we ever have to call and ask where a worker was because they always showed up on time. Dan himself always came out every few days, sometimes the very next day early in the AM to check on the progress from the day before to make sure it was correct. He was constantly making sure the work was right and on schedule. He definitely is very involved in each house he builds and truly cares about customers' concerns and what they want. Long story short, our house was finished in mid July and we moved in two weeks ago. Throughout this whole process, Dan was not only our builder, but we thought of him as a friend. We appreciated his sense of humor, his take charge attitude and his willingness to let us know if he thought we were making a mistake with any of our choices, which he did a few times, and we really appreciated that! The end result was a beautiful home that we absolutely love and is everything we were looking for. Miller Custom Homes could never get a higher recommendation from us than the A+ they get now. If you are looking to build a new home, we guarantee these guys (Dan and Jim Miller) will get it right and treat you right because they CARE about their customers, whether you're building a 1400 square foot home or a 14,000 square foot home. Thank you again, Dan, for our beautiful new home! You will always be considered a friend so stop on in sometime when you're in the area!

What I noticed with Chris's approach to work was that he completed the project professionally and to the specifications intended. Chris senior and his son showed cooperative teamwork, working as efficiently as two adults, as such the project was completed early. The work site was kept clean and well organized. Given Chris' performance on this project I highly recommend Chris Hurley and sons. Alex

I then asked him if he can do a railing with the understanding since it is not his expertise that I was buying the railing and the screws. This project was originally quoted over a phone call for $300 which he then tried to ask for more and I told him if he was not sticking to his word that he could take the railing project out and continue on with work on the chimney only. The remainder of the chimney (his expertise so materials like the first job should have been included in the job quote) was to be $500. He stated he would stick to his quote to complete the requested job (railing and chimney) for $850 the 50 extra for the concrete screws needed to complete the install of the railing. Once he completed the railing he requested to be paid $500 now $300 for the chimney. I agreed to this with the understanding that the chimney would then be knocked down to 300. He then back tracked multiple times trying to get more money for the chimney by sending materials costs to me (which any contractor should already have factored this into the quote and like was previously factored into the original quote). I then declined services after calling out the inconsistencies. He then proceeded to text me again to apologize for not sticking to his word and "being a good guy" would complete the project as originally stated. Which I then refused again. He proceeded to send a long message trying to justify all his actions and lack of sticking to his word. I would never hire this company again as they clearly are not professionals with quoting out jobs and blaming the consumer that they didn't do things properly.

We ultimately selected them…read morebecause of how honest, transparent, and thoughtful Dan was in our initial meetings and interactions! Far too many contractors gave us a ballpark figure without wanting to put anything into writing--Scott Brothers was willing to give us an itemized estimate with specific allowances for fixtures. So, if we chose something that was more expensive than that, we knew upfront that we'd be paying more. Brian, Tim, Nick, & Dan made fast work of finishing a stubbed in bathroom in our basement--from start to finish, it was just over three weeks. All the workers who came to our home were friendly, personable, and professional--they cleaned up every day, were very kind to our pets, and communicated with us frequently. They were also very mindful of our pets and were careful not to let any of our inquisitive pets run outside--Tim and Brian made such fast friends with our dog that she was always excited to see them when they arrived. Super special shout out to Tara, who worked with us patiently as we went back and forth on our selections, asked to add and subtract components, and was overall very fast in responding to our inquiries. And when we did encounter the expected challenges with supply chain issues, a product that was damaged, or some other question, their entire team went above and beyond to help solve it in a timely manner. We are thrilled with the final product and so happy to finally have a bathroom in the main entertainment area of our home. We built a Classic Custom Homes (CCH) house in the Lake Wisconsin area that was started in the fall…read moreof 2016 and finished in early 2017. We actually live in Maryland, and went back-and-forth to Wisconsin during the design and building of our home. We selected CCH after due diligence involving the opinions of local real estate agents, looking at an in-progress CCH home and asking questions of the future owners, attending the Madison area Parade of Homes, and checking out a completed spec home with Jennie (the builder's wife) in the Kilkenny Farms development just outside of Waunakee. Jennie really helped us decide on CCH, as she just seemed confident, knowledgeable, and above all, credible. The design process went well, as Brandon was both talented and easy to work with. Building a home is never stress-free, and this house was no exception. 2016 was the wettest year in Wisconsin history, and so the job site was extremely muddy. This made everything more difficult, starting with the ground and driveway being too soft for a cement truck to drive on. With the cement truck having to stay on the main road, cement for the foundation was delivered via "pump" system, which delivers cement via a series of long pipes. The "pump" system was a cost overrun, but given the operating environment, it was unavoidable. When the home was completed, it was not difficult to have the few "punch list" items corrected. Our completed house is everything we had hoped for: beautiful, well-made, and energy-efficient. We still live in Maryland, but plan to move to Wisconsin soon. We were away this past winter, and when we got to our CCH house this summer for the first time in about 8-9 months, we had a wet basement. Thus was likely due to a particularly brutal winter, with heavy snow and then a sudden thaw, and compounded by our not being here to keep snow away from the house. With our insurance company ruling that this was caused by "ground water", our claim was dismissed. However, Bryan of CCH has helped out a lot, first sending out a crew to remove wet carpeting, drywall, and trim, and then scheduling a crew for final remediation. Since our house was completed over two years ago, and we were absent for the entire winter, we are more than grateful for the assistance of CCH. Bryan can be blunt, it is true, but in my view he is also honest and helpful. We are at an age where we may never build another house, but if we do, it will be with Classic Custom Homes. Without reservation, I recommend this builder to anyone.

After extensive research and meetings with other builders, we selected Classic to build our home in…read more2012. We were not disappointed! Here are some comments about Classic's results/performance in several key areas: Quality: This may be where Classic made the greatest impression with us. Brian and the entire team set very high standards for quality, and it shows in their results. This includes high quality materials and craftsmanship, and valuable consultation with decisions. On numerous occasions, they helped steer us towards great style and other decisions that will ensure our long term satisfaction. We regularly receive compliments from friends and family about our home, and Classic deserves a lot of the credit. Communication: We had a true sense of partnership with Classic, and they did a great job keeping us updated along the way. Like many people in our situation, we were nervous and had lots of questions. Classic was responsive and consistently put our minds at ease. Cost/Budget: The process of putting together bids and cost estimates was very easy, and Classic provided accuracy and transparency throughout. The final cost was exactly what we expected, and it was less than the initial bids we had received from other builders. Schedule: Classic did a great job adhering to the planned schedule (which they shared with us along the way), and our home was completed in less than 4 months. Not only that, but we needed a place to live during construction (our previous house sold quicker than expected), and Classic provided us with a flexible arrangement at one of their rental properties. Standing Behind Their Work: In any construction project project, there will be things that didn't quite go as planned or that need follow-up work. A good measure of a service provider is how they handle these occurrences. We had a couple minor things (quality of work from a couple of the sub-contractors) that needed attention and Brian took care of everything quickly and at no extra cost. All in all, we were (and still are) extremely satisfied with our decision to have Classic build our home. We would definitely build with them again, and recommend them to anyone we know who is thinking about building a new home.

Our old home had many architectural and builder-related challenges and Washa dealt with all very successfully. Our most recent project was a garage remodel and it was approached with the same attention to detail and professionalism as any of our other projects. They were very timely when I reached out to make the first contact. Very shortly afterward they arranged a meeting with the subcontractors (floor, electrical, design team, insulation etc.) to make sure everyone was on the same page. I felt like were really benefited from the group think. The garage remodel included a food prep work area and Washa construction came up with some unique and practical builds to meet our needs including a heater, hoist, wall mounted foldable food grade stainless steel table, lighting so bright that you could do surgery in there, and smooth nonporous impervious walls around the work area. We are thrilled with the outcome and have had many, many compliments on the garage. I cannot say enough good things about working with this company. I'm a detailed oriented 'picky' client and here are the things that I like. They are respectful and take their time with clients. What is common to them is not common to the client and they understand this. Timely communications are a priority (phone, email, text). I send an email with points, and I get a meaningful response. It was very clear who was managing the project and who to call if I had questions or "some things I noticed..." The estimates have always been fair and competitive, billing is transparent, and the work timeline was clear over the whole project. There is no upselling, e.g. getting a new garage door when the one we had was working just great. The workmanship and attention to detail are consistently superb. Pat was the lead carpenter on the current project, and he insured all the work was done correctly and even had many helpful suggestions to make the site more functional. I was very impressed with the clean-up... work sites were cleaned up at the end of the day even if they were coming back the next day. It seemed like their motto was "leave it cleaner than how we found it". Over the years I have seen the same people working with the company and that says a lot about the company atmosphere and how people feel about working with them. Happy workers do better work and treat clients well. One important thing to me is being able to trust the workers when I cannot be at home. They ensure things are locked up. There is no concern about pets, kids, etc. They even took great care to make sure they did not block the mail person's access to our mailbox. I have no reservations about recommending Washa construction for a small or large project. They are attention to detail professionals that you can trust. Many thanks to Nick, Adam, Josh, Pat, Dominic, and Jackson!
