What a terrific place close to home to get in touch with your body! It's a pilates studio with so many different kinds of classes to take. The owner, Marilyn, is incredibly knowledgeable and a terrific person to help you figure out and correct all the strange strength discrepancies in your body. I never thought I could like Pilates after trying it at my gym, but this place makes me love it. read more

I started going to Sana Vita for the prenatal pilates equipment class. I loved attending them while pregnant and they even added another night of the class. I had Erica and Pamela as instructors, they are both attentive and provide a good balanced workout for pregnant women. I can't wait to get back in the studio! read more

I seriously use to dread working out and always struggled to keep fit. Sana Vita changed my perspective and my figure. I look forward to my Pilates workouts and consider them my treat to myself. Since I started classes my friends and family often give me compliments on how great I look and ask what have I been doing to get fit. In the past I've taken classes at the gym and they can't compare to the studio classes when it comes to attention to form and environment. Sana Vita instructors are the real deal and Marilyn, the owner, is an expert at what she does. read more

Excellent sessions. Marilyn always challenges me and focuses the exercises to help my problem areas. I always leave feeling better than when I came in. The studio has a nice feel and it is very easy to park. read more

For me, Pilates is the only thing that got my body to where I wanted it to be. I didn't know anything about it, so I tried Sana Vita studio. Prior to having a baby, I'd never even worked out a day in my life. After the baby, something had to be done. Six months after starting Pilates with the amazing instructors at Sana Vita, I had more confidence in a bathing suit than I'd ever had before. The instructors are attentive and care about their clients. They take the time to make sure you are in the correct position, and regardless of how many people are in a class (max 6), you feel like you are the only one. This is the best studio in the city...and it's the cleanest!! I highly recommend making a visit if you dread getting into a suit this summer. read more

Great prices, all natural and paraben free products, everyone is very professional, kind and the atmosphere is clean and calming. Will be back 100%%%% read more

I like this place. The classes are small and the trainers are nice. I feel like I am making new friends left and right.

I can say nothing else - It gets 5 stars because it's worthy of every single one of them. Such a great studio!

This was the first time I ever really tried Yoga and so far my experience has been great! I would recommend this place!

Sana Vita is an excellent Pilates studio. I've been doing yoga & Pilates for a long time and I'm really particular about teachers. Marilyn's knowledge of anatomy and Pilates is deep & amazing. She's funny, empathetic, and very gifted. She knows how to challenge you, can immediately modify exercises to accomodate injuries, and keeps class interesting. The studio is modern, clean, and tasteful with all the latest equipment. I love it! read more

I am new to Pilates and was a little intimidated to start. I founded this studio and have had such a great experience! It is a boutique studio space with small classes and a lot of individual attention. The space is beautiful and all the staff so friendly. I took a group class and decided to try a private session with Marilyn and was so glad I did! I have some injuries and she really worked with me to help make modification and sent me home with exercises to work on at home. It's really made a change in how I feel! I'm so excited for the new year and practicing Pilates at Sana Vita! I highly recommend this specific Pilates studio because they took the intimidation out of Pilates. The machine is easy to use once you are taught properly. Marilyn took the time explaining everything and I could tell she cared that I got it. read more

I had been looking around for a nice (affordable) studio for Pilates and I am glad to say that Sana Vita fits the bill to a T! They have very friendly and patient instructors and a comfortable, small space. Every class feels intimate. The best thing is that I have never been in better shape thanks to Sana Vita! I feel fabulous! Thanks guys! read more

Marilyn Glielmi- Sana Vita Studio - Private Pilates Instruction I have practiced yoga/Pilates for many years... The experiences that I have had working privately with Marilyn Glielmi at Sana Vita Studio, 1357 W Grand Ave. Chicago, IL 60622, have helped me to redefine my approach to any movement therapy. This is a must have experience for anyone participating in or considering exercise, Yoga or Pilates. This space itself is beautiful, very clean, and has the feeling of a home. This spot is a gem! There is also a very nice massage room, quiet and private - last time I was in I had a massage after my Pilates private, heaven! read more

Excellent instructor, Spotless facility, Excellent equipment, I enjoyed the class!

Wonderful clean modern place with all of the latest pilates equipment. Have done reformer and mat classes and liked them very much. In fact I had low back pain for 6 mos. or so prior to starting and after a couple of sessions, it's gone and I feel stronger. It really works your core and your abs and everything else. read more

This studio is the bee's knees! I can't say enough good things about Marilyn and her staff. I have been coming to this studio for years and love the energy from the staff and the challenge of the classes. Before I found Sana Vita I had tried a few other studios and although they were ok - this place is HANDS DOWN the place for me. If you are looking for a great studio - run... don't walk to Sana Vita. Your body will thank you! read more

I love this place! I am not very coordinated. Therefore, I shy away from group classes until I discovered the classes at Sana Vita. Marilyn and other instructors make you feel comfortable and make sure your form is correct. I really get a good workout and do feel the results the next day. You can't beat the price, atmosphere, and the knowledgeable instructors and it's fun! Cathy read more

Excellent Pilates class with Erica this morning! This is the best Studio in the city. All the instructors are awesome.

What a wild experience with Mary at Yamuna. I am a healthy, active 40-year old woman who had awful back pain. I was evaluated by two physical therapists who suggested my body was very off. After a very gentle stretchy yoga class I felt I needed to change my plans for the rest of the day and soak in a hot tub. After a second yoga class which felt nice in my body I had difficulty walking home. After one Yamuna class with Mary my body felt totally different. Relaxed. I still have pain, but the difference was remarkable. I am going back, and I am eager to learn this interesting method! read more

Excellent! I did Pilates equipment class with Erica and loved it. She really knows how to make you work and helps you do it the right way. The studio was neat and all staff were friendly. I recommend this studio if you want to do serious pilates! The equipment helps you work in a very effective way. Keep up the good work guys! read more

My experience at Sana Vita has been nothing but positive thus far. I have been attending the Pilates/Jumpboard classes with Annette on Tuesdays and Thursdays for almost 2 months now, and I won't stop going back for many reasons! Annette is a lovely teacher, caring and is always offering the right amount of tips for your body. I have some shoulder concerns (winged scapula) and it's really nice to go into a class and have someone offer modifications and instructions on a personal level. Classes are small which I love (upto 5 people). The teacher is able to provide the attention to all the students. Even though this is a group class, it feels like a private class. I also am not a fan of workouts where the teachers are yelling to 'motivate' you. Annette is calm and is very observing of her students, time flies by in her classes, you almost wish they were longer! I would suggest taking a private lesson or 2 if you have not done Pilates Equipment before. I took 2 private classes with Erica who was lovely as well. Private lessons help to form the base before you can take up on the equipment. The studio is small, although I'm not sure why that would be a problem to anyone. Every student has ample amount of space and all the equipments are highly well maintained when compared to the other Pilates studios that I have visited in the city. This gives off the private classes vibe which I like a lot. The studio is also very bright and well lit. The Pilates/Jumpboard class itself is very effective and am able to feel myself become stronger, especially with my shoulders! along with my body posture improving on the whole. The workout is a lot of fun, and will definitely make you sweat. Can't imagine a Pilates workout without the jumpboard exercises now! Extremely satisfied with my experience at this wonderful studio. read more

I have been attending classes for about 2 months AMAZING. My shoulder blade pain has significantly decreased. These women are so knowledgeable about anatomy, the human body, and Pilates. Super friendly. Jess has been so helpful! read more

I absolutely Love love love Sanavita! I found them here on Yelp. The biggest reason I went w them is the opportunity to do unlimited classes at a very affordable rate in a small personalized group class setting on a reformer. My two privates w Marilyn the owner of the studio were AMAZING! She listened an worked w me to find modify exercises for my back injury so that I could still participate in class an not feel like a outcast. I started my group classes an I still continue to receive that personalized instruction an help to get stronger an leaner an more flexibility. Marilyn the owner is very professional and personal as well an that carries over with her instructors too! The classmates add some light laughter as your trying hard positions to make class fun as well. I have taken the private sessions, reformer class an mat class an love each of them. All the tools I've learned in class helps my weak back to be stronger to help in my daily job of dog walking an running a successful business. After 8 sessions im seeing my doctor less for back injury an he even complimented me on how much stronger I am getting from my instruction an daily at home practice. It not easy but you must come to class willing to listen an work hard an go home an practice to get stronger an better every day. The only draw back is lack of morning classes an more 7pm an later classes. But if you are looking to learn Pilates or have a back injury to recover w exercise, Sanavita is the place to come to find that personalized one on one service an instruction. Give them a try you will not be dissatisfied! I woke up after 8 sessions have lost 3 pounds an starting to see my 6 pack form. That's proof it works if your willing to put the time in best 2015 investment I did for myself. read more

Just an update: I've been in LA for a year and I cannot find a studio that holds a candle to Sana Vita. I miss it so much!!!

If you're looking for a prenatal yoga class, you may be shocked to find that there aren't too many choices in the City (I certainly was)! When I learned that Sana Vita had a class I was actually relieved. The scheduling is different-- you have to RSVP in advance. They provide all the equipment you will need including a yoga mat and blanket, so you don't have to lug a lot of stuff around. The class itself is pretty challenging (bring a bottle of water!) and the instructor pays attention to detail, offering individualized tips throughout the class. My only complaints are that: (1) the room is small and gets a little too hot-- at one point I actually felt dizzy-- but the instructor will open the door if you ask, (2) parking may or may not be difficult depending on the weather since the studio is on a snow route, and (3) the Saturday class takes place while people are doing pilates right outside the room and they are very VERY chatty. It is almost impossible to concentrate/relax with so much noise and laughter going on right outside the door. If they could stagger the schedules that would be WAY better. Still, this is better than staying home and sitting on your butt, so give it a try! read more

Terribly unwelcoming studio. I'll never go back. It is the worst studio vibe I have ever experienced. I was very intrigued to try Yamuna Body Rolling as I have deep inflammation across my hip from running. The instructor, while very credentialed, was militant and made me feel out of place for randomly joining her class of regulars. The studio manager was on her phone when I walked in and called me after to harass me about "not paying" even though I paid in advance through Mind & Body. read more

I Took the pilates equipment class with Annette. This is my first experience with pilates equipment and it was so great. She took the time to correct form, explain what each machine does and what muscles to use. Needless to say i'm super sore today. I will continue to take this class in hopes to build a stroger body. read more

The best Pilates studio in Chicago!! I have seen amazing changes to my body! Marilyn (the owner) is so sweet and knows everything about Pilates! Would recommend to anyone! read more

I travel all over the country as well have tried a few spots in Chicago for pilaties and I always come back to Sana Vita. Marilynn the owner takes great care to ensure form and the classes are never more than 6 and most times 3 or 4 and the attention you get is amazing. In 4 sessions I see a change in 10 everyone else does. I am also a yogi and the core strength I've built at Sana Vita has improved my yoga greatly. I recently had an injury and Marilyn and Erica took time with me pre and post classes to give me exercises to help my recovery as well as gave me modification during classes. I walk taller, stronger, more aligned and leaner .....I love coming here and won't stop. read more

Sans Vita is an amazing place to learn about pilates. It can be intimidating to use all the equipment the first few times, but Marilyn is very helpful to the uninitiated! As you become more adept, she will help you to progress to more difficult workouts. She is very concerned about form and safety. I would (and have) recommend Sana Vita to the novice and the advanced student. Her "boot camp" is challenging and fun. My teenage daughter attends with me and Marilyn is very aware of her and gives her extra attention when needed. The space is always clean and Marilyn's staff is top notch. A big thumbs up from me :) read more

The people that work here are amazing!! They are very helpful and really take pride in teaching yoga and perfecting your form. The best work-out studio in the city, bar none. I started pilates after lower back surgery. After working with Marilyn and Sana Vita for 5 years, I would never take a pilates class anywhere else. Marilyn and her team know how to adjust their instructions for injuries, exercise levels, etc so you get a great workout with an instructor who is actually paying attention to what you're doing and correcting your movements so that you don't hurt yourself. The studio space is clean and inviting and the classes are butt burning fun. read more

I am a first timer and was recommended by a friend. What a wonderful experience!! Marilyn is a true professional and thoroughly discussed my concerns questions and got to work right away. I cannot wait for my next session. read more

I love my time spent at Sana Vita, and specifically because of how GOOD my instructor Erica is! I had decided, after years of running, that I just needed something else, something that provided a more focused workout, something that was good for my body, my posture, and my overall mental health too. I needed to step away from everything and give myself something that I needed. That is exactly what I got. My time spent with Erica and Pilates is time and money well invested. In the beginning I laughed at how some of the exercises made me become aware of muscles I didn't even know I had. With one little shift of direction, what was an easy exercise a few moments ago, is a whole new challenge. She is so good. My body and my spirit are better since starting Pilates with Erica at Sana Vita. Im thankful to have found her, and Pilates too! read more

Nice and clean studio. Love Yamuna Ball Rolling class!

great prenatal classes. clean. friendly. caring instructors.

Sana Vita Studio and Marilyn (the owner/instructor) receive 10 out of 5 stars from me! For almost a year, I've struggled with back pain that came on suddenly after a lifetime of being fit and healthy. After seeing chiropractors, an Ortho Doc, massage therapists, a naprapath, physical therapists, an acupuncurist and herbologist, and multiple types of workouts (yoga, strength training, swimming, etc), I sometimes felt nothing will address my back pain...until I found Sana Vita and Marilyn D'Andrea. I have attended both Pilates group sessions and private instruction classes led by Marilyn, the results have been phenomenal. She is the first person who can knowledgeably explain and practice muscle activation techniques (which for me have made a substantial difference - the only thing that has), clearly has extensive experience and knowledgeable and committed to her clients. I've seen solid progress since I began going to Sana Vita 3 months ago. I would highly recommend this studio to anyone - a Pilates novice, someone with or without pain issues, or even just a desire to learn what Pilates is about. Great workouts that are fun and work muscles I never knew existed and phenomenal for flexibility. Unlike any other form of fitness. Outstanding studio in every way! read more
