After spending hours of researching and reading about different licensed air conditioning companies and their creditability near the Fort Walton Beach area, my husband and I decided to choose The Better Heating and Air Conditioning Company. It was well worth the research. I called and a left a message and received a returned call immediately. I spoke with Brian the owner and explained the issues and situation, he was patient, and respectful, with excellent customer service. Brain scheduled a certain time to send Jim his technician out the same day. GREAT! Jim called thirty minutes before arrival time to let us know that he was on his way. Upon arrival, he introduced himself; I explained as best as I could and showed him our air conditioner. Jim examined the air conditioner and was very explicit with pointing out each detail what the problems were. I could see that it was (TWO MANY). I can confidently say this company met our expectations with their attention to detail and commitment to QUALITY and VALUE. We met Brian the owner in person, who reiterated about the history of the small company he owns, which we had already read. Brian the owner delivered exactly what was promised the same day. The quality, service, VALUE, and the overall experience has made us happy. (HINT) from experience, we learned that larger companies with their fleet of vehicles to service the public isn't always the best. I had my 22 year old heat pump system replaced. Brian's estimate was very reasonable, and was able to start the work 2 days earlier than expected. Thomas and Peter did the removal of the old system and install of the new system. The guys were done in 6 hours and they did great job, the place was cleaner than before they arrived. read more

I have used Brian with Better Heating & Air for several years at my home and office. Always impressed with his knowledge and timeliness with service calls. Yesterday I called him about my office AC we could not get a time that works for both of us he gave me a suggestion on what the problem was I fixed what he told me it might be and now my AC is fine. I save myself money for a service goal but without Brian's knowledge and get it done attitude I would still be waiting for a service call. Outstanding service. Called late on Friday afternoon for assistance with my non-operating A/C, not only did I hear from this company immediately but within an hour they were here making repairs. They returned a few days later to make permanent repairs and install custom made baffles into our air return to quiet the system down. Oh if you are wondering if his custom baffles made a difference they did, I can now have a normal conversation when the A/C turns on. Quick and great service. He came late to check out our heater that was out. He accidentally went to our neighbors house and was attacked by their dog. Suffering a bite to the hand he still evaluated the heater and ordered the parts to fix it. Then went to the hospital. I was surprised by his actions most people would of left and never came back. Last night at 7 the ac went out at our condo in Seagrove Beach. We just had out of town guest arrive for the weekend. I had no idea who to call but just took a chance on this company. I read the reviews and called the number. Brian answered immediately. I told him my problem, that I was out of town and could use some help. Brian told me he was finishing a job and he would be to Seagrove in an hour....no worries, just text me the address and your guests name and phone number. Within the hour, I get a call from Brian explaining it was a simple problem. He had cold air blowing within 15 minutes. Payment was easy as I was out of state and my friends let me know how nice and professional Brian was. Very professional, knowlegable, on time, and clean. I arrived home from vacation July 4th about 11pm with a house at 89°. Once I was checked into a local hotel I used Yelp about 1am to find help. Brian, replied in 5 minutes and said he would be up to my house in Crestview by 9am the next morning. The next morning about 7:45, Brian called and said he was on his way and 30 minutes out. My unit was 18 years old so after getting a repair quote I felt it best to replace my 2.5 ton unit with a complete 3 ton unit. Brian ran all the way back to Ft. Walton to get the new unit. He came back to my house and installed a complete inside and outside unit, along with new drain all by himself. It was finished by 7pm and the house cooled down from 88° to 70° by midnight! He left my house cleaner then it was when he showed up. I'm so thankful for his honesty, understanding, and overall work ethic. I went with Better Heating and Air after receiving 3 other quotes. The price point was about the same from the other companies for the unit I ended up getting. I liked that Brian owns his own local company which is what swayed me, and the reviews. On the install day, Brian and Chris were prompt and extremely courteous. Brian ended up re-doing the interior AC closet before installing the new unit. The install lasted all day but they stopped to answer my questions at anytime and made sure I understood what was going on. I am very satisfied with the workmanship and the attention to detail. I love this AC/Heating company. I have used them for a long time. Brian has always been very professional and trustworthy. I just reviewed the recent bad review and could read between the lines. Seems like the tenant didn't change the filter and messed up the unit. I am a landlord and have had this happen before. Leases require the renter to change the filters because it can damage the unit. AC guys can usually tell if the filter was not changed. Guess the renter was mad because he got caught. The review seems to be a rant and trying to badmouth this company. I like to read between the lines on this one. Too many profanities in the review like he/she is trying to be persuasive. I dont buy it!! read more

Brian @ Better Heating & AC came to my rescue late Fri nite when my Nest thermostat decided to put out hot air even tho it was set to cool. By the time I reached Brian, house temp was 87 degrees. This was after another AC firm, supposedly voted "Finest on Emerald Coast" first said they would come, then gave flimsy excuse when they canceled. Brian knew what to do-said Nest often had the problem-and quickly fixed it. I asked him to dump Nest for more reliable thermostat. Brian did not charge extra for late nite emergency call. From the initial phone call to the estimate he was so professional, his professionalism and attention to detail and willingness to help made Better Heating & Air-conditioning a no brainier. Instillation day was smooth and painless, his team were courteous and respectful while doing work in our home. There was no mess you couldn't event tell they had been in our house after they left. I've had the new system for a month now and my electricity bill has gone down, the issues I had with the old system are no longer present with the new configuration. Great service and fair price. Don't let the new name fool you. Brian has been in the local HVAC industry for 25+ years working for years their owners. He decided to go out on his own recently and I am glad he did. We recently had to replace our unit and after a bad experience with another company, my wife wanted the guy who serviced it last year to come out. He no longer worked for the company we had a service contract with. A work friend found out I was looking for contractor to install a new unit and recommended his neighbor who had recently went out on his own. Well you guessed it it was Brian who was also the same technician my wife liked from the other company! His bid was very competitive. But even better he is a personable guy and explains everything like your a valued client and not just a number. I am an engineer and appreciated that he took the time to answer all my questions. He installed my new HVAC and heater one day after I we agreed on a price. He did little extras such as straighting theprimary input duct and sealing the intake box. The install looks great.
