AWFUL DISRESPECTFUL AND FULL OF LIES!! We had a spot reserved for our daughter which cost us almost…read more$900 as described to us as half of the first months fee and would be fully refundable to us by Amanda when we originally met with her a couple months ago should we change our mind about using this daycare. We decided not to use this daycare and have been calling multiple times a day for weeks but there is no answering service on the phone and no one will answer to try and inform them we wont be taking the spot, even have sent an email with no response. They finally answered today which is still 35 days notice if they had answered or had an answering machine we would have given them 47 days notice. She proceeds to try and make me feel guilty on the phone for 'not giving them very much notice to fill our spot' and then the same person we originally met with Amanda now says $95 of our 'fully refundable deposit' is now not refundable. But she would call me back if she could refund any of it due to my 'lack of notice.' My husband takes time off work to go in and discuss with them and no one will answer his knocks so he decides to call while standing in the lobby. He literally watched someone in the office decide to not answer the phone while he is standing in the entrance calling. He ends up talking to Amanda's daughter who tells him that the deposit is fully refundable. A few hours later he gets a call back and the guy on the phone says the $95 is a registration fee.. we never actually registered we still have the registration packet on the counter at home, and the registration fee is non-refundable. To which he begins to question why it is not refundable since it is a registration fee and we were never registered and the guy says "I'm sorry you feel that way" it has nothing to do with feeling a certain way, they are charging us for a service never rendered. To end the phone call the guy tells my husband "WELL IT IS A GOOD THING YOUR DAUGHTER ISN'T COMING TO OUR DAYCARE."

Not only do they give us daily report cards, but the teachers take time to talk to every parent at pick up about how their day went. Our little guy went through a bought of upset tummies and they were excellent about trouble shooting with us and tracking his meals with a food diary so we could get to the bottom of the issue. At two and a half our son knows all of his ABC's, counts to 10 in three languages, knows all of his colors, animals and even knows sign language, all thanks to the staff at Noah's Ark! We could not have found a better group of people to love and care for our son!

I am sure you don't want the full (long) version, but I will try to give you the summary…read more Our son and daughter were there. My son, 5 and my daughter, 3. To be fair, my daughter's teacher was fabulous, so there may be hope should you decide to place your children here. My son's teacher was (IMO) horrid! To start with, she is a mother who has a nanny take care of her children so she can work at the school. I find that incredibly odd. I cannot see how a preschool teachers salary can be valuable enough to offset the cost of a full-time nanny. At any rate - our son was overheard using a "potty word" and the school let us know. We disciplined him, told him it was inappropriate, etc. Well, a few weeks later, the school called my wife and I in to have a meeting. They stated in the meeting that another 5 year old heard our sone say the "F" word. The teacher questioned my son, and cohersed him into admitting he did say a bad word. ((side note - during the entire meeting, the teacher did not speak, make eye contact, or engage in the meeting. We were speaking to the director and the associate pastor of the church.)) The staff went on to explain that bad words were not acceptable, and if he were to get a "third strike", the school would expell him. When I asked if the school saw fit to work with a child, and be accepting and forgiving, they said "no" and that bad words were NEVER tolerated and they felt strong in their desire to expell children who use these words. WOW! A christian school that isn't able to forgive, teach and nurture... odd... Furthermore, they stated that our son was in need of a special observation to see "what his issues were". The state would pay for the observation. We declined. We then moved back to Noah's Ark, and immediately saw our son flourish! He loved school, loved the teachers and the teachers loved him. When we asked (many times) if he was "challenging" or "naughty" - the answer was no. Look, I don't want to seem like our kid is bad and we are naive. We have shared this story (in greater detail) with many families and they are all appauled at the schools position. In fact, many of the families are members of this church and were begging us to let them speak to the churches board of directors. Our son never physically threatened another child, never hit, never endangered anyone. He used bad language, twice, and the school felt this was something they could not handle. I find this very odd, as we are PAYING them to teach our kids right from wrong.

Do you need a place of worship at which you can feel comfortable? How about loved? How about…read moreeducated? How about joyful? Well, Mount Cross is all of that and more. Their mission statement says: Rejoice, Renew, & Reach Out in the Name of Jesus, and we/they do it well. Mt Cross celebrates it's 50th year in 2008. There are all sorts of celebrations planned. Each and all of the previous pastors have been invited to come and preach here once again. The congregation's reaction so far has been glorious. Not every pastor is a great preacher, but the sermons these previous pastors have delivered have been uniformly stimulating and thought provoking, not to mention poignant. The congregation's president, Roger Knapp, has a clear vision of service to our community. You might know him as a local teacher, and his otherwise demonstrated organization, humor, and wisdom are serving him well in this position, too. Pastor Dave Steffenson is one of those rare people who make people feel at ease immediately. And his sermons are consistently first quality. If a Sunday goes by without him singing parts of a couple songs as illustration, we feel as though we've missed something. His education and depth of knowledge serve him well in our very diverse congregation. Sunday worship services are held at 8:15 and 11:00 AM from September through May, and at 8:15 and 10:00 AM from June through August. Between services there is a fellowship time with refreshments (and stimulating conversation!) provided. Sunday School hour is held for all (from 3 years old through adults) beginning at 9:45 AM from September through May. Last year Dr. Dan Peterson from PLU gave a series of talks for the adults on Lutheran origins and beliefs. He'll be back this fall (2008) for five Sundays beginning September 28th. I know the place will be "sold out" for his presentations. I wish he had been teaching when I attended PLU in the late 60's! Wednesday evenings (Sept thru May) there will be a supper open to all beginning at 5:30 PM. Afterwards there are various activities planned for all. Did you see (or read) the Chronicles of Narnia, the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe? Well, last year for a number of Wednesdays in a row, we had the whole series of Narnia stories summarized and the allusions explained to us. What a great way to spend a couple of hours on a Wednesday evening. Are you looking for a good, interesting, professionally guided preschool with a Christian overview? Noah's Ark Christian Preschool is becoming the talk of the town! The Vacation Bible School this past summer was WELL ATTENDED yet again. And there are many other educational opportunities for all - children as well as adults. Mount Cross partners in ministry with many other local organizations such as the Families Unlimited Network, the Peace Community Center, the Phoenix Housing Network, Habitat for Humanity, and many others. If helping others makes you feel as good as it does us, give this a try! Bottom line: This is no staid or stodgy place. Come listen to (and participate in!) any of the activities. You'll have fun and feel good about doing so, all at the same time. Check out their web site: www.MountCrossLutheran.org for more details. This is the real deal.

I've never come across a more disrespectful situation than what I've witnessed with their dismissal of the Sammamish Christian School/Noah's Ark Pre-School who have been pillars of the community for families and children for many years. Families have been impacted and educators have lost their jobs without warning. Registration fees for fall were paid by families sending their children there without notice that the school would be closed by City Church. Instead, families were then forced to find last minute alternatives too late for enrollment options. City Church is not a Christian institution, just a business. Very unfortunate to see this type of community impact.

The timing of your decisions over the past several months regarding Sammamish Christian School/…read moreNoah's Ark Preschool (SCSNA) have appeared very calculating & not in alignment with how one would expect a Christian organization to conduct themselves. It's interesting that SCSNA was notified in February 2012 that they would no longer be allowed to lease space in your facility for the 2012/2013 school year. The reason: because you would be starting your own City Kid's Preschool. Coincidentally, it was about the same time when the competing Christian preschools such as Eastridge & Timberlake had already filled their enrollment for the 2012/2013 school year. I heard of SCSNA families who were able to secure some of the last openings at those schools after finding out that SCSNA would have to close its doors. The timing of your announcement also leaves SCSNA with limited time & options to find a new location, negotiate a lease, etc. & move a preschool that serves over 100 families. Your calculated timing obviously took SCSNA out of the competition for students for the new City Church Preschool. Furthermore, a few weeks ago when the SCSNA community came together to celebrate this amazing school one last time before it has to close its doors, City Church decided to intervene again. At 10:00pm the night before the celebration, the event coordinator got a phone call from a representative from City Church notifying her that we would no longer be able to hold our celebration in the auditorium the next day (which had already been approved by City Church months before). There were 200 people expected at this celebration that had been planned by a parent & staff committee for months & included food, a children's band & a silent auction. It was no small feat to re-organize this event 8 hours before it started. Why not at least give them a few days notice????? It is very disappointing when a Christian organization puts profit first & is a hypocrite to what it claims to stand for. You could have handled this in a much more compassionate way. The negative publicity that City Church has received surrounding this is not coming from any directors, administrators, staff or teachers, it's coming from a close community of parents who are shocked at how this was handled. You are not punishing the decision makers of the school, you are punishing the staff, teachers, parents & kids. Shame on you City Church!
