They don't plan very well when they know a math teacher will be in maternity leave amd have gotten subs that can't answer geometry questions. Several kids were failing that year. They also have had a new Spanish teacher the last five years, one of which was teaching a different dialect from what most HS in this area teach amd he was difficult to understand, even as someone who is fluent in Spanish. Another time was super unorganized and my child didn't learn much and another of which my child had to help her with certain words in Spanish I! They also don't offer a lot of the classes other private schools are able to at least compete with public schools. Also admin doesn't like to deal with problems and like to turn their back on them or ignore them as though they don't exist. K-6 was good but I would highly recommend going somewhere else 7-12th. If you do put your kid here for secondary be prepared for the fact that there are still the same problems that other schools have, kids doing drugs and alcohol, fighting, name calling, bullying, threats, sexting, drama, and kids engaging in sexual activity. Oh and none of their sports teams are very good and there's no cuts so everyone gets to play so it's not competitive at all.

At Concordia, they taught my boy on HIS level. Now, both my children are in the school and they have been fantastic through the COVID-19 crisis. The school provided iPads for all the students. All the teachers met everyday with the kids for half our and once a week privately in Zoom meetings. Although the school is a private school and survives on monthly tuition, they allowed us to stop payments while our business was struggling due to the pandemic. Never once did they harass us about payments or the fact that we had not paid in months. Never once did the teachers treat our kids differently because we had not paid the school. The teachers and staff love all our kids and take very good care of them. They are concerned on a personal level with each student individually and work on tirelessly to help kids on the kids level. Your kid will NOT be cut out in the cookie cutter mold. They will be cared for and nurtured along their path to adulthood. And the review about a male teacher spooning kids from a different post is false. The school has no male teachers at the lower grade levels. Neither the early learning center, which is separate from the school, nor the elementary school have male teachers, so either the reviewer was confused about another school, or spreading rumors.

We enrolled at Concordia Christian Academy seeking a Christ-centered environment where our children…read morewould be spiritually formed, emotionally supported, and physically safe. What we experienced instead was a pattern of dismissiveness, racial insensitivity, and unequal treatment that ultimately forced us to withdraw. From minimizing legitimate safety concerns, to racially harmful classroom experiences, to public humiliation of our child in front of the school, to incidents of racism in kindergarten that we were never informed about, we repeatedly watched the burden of accountability get placed on families instead of leadership. We also experienced clear boundary violations, including our child being posted publicly after we explicitly did not consent. When we raised concerns, the response escalated into what felt like surveillance and retaliatory treatment during our withdrawal process, creating an atmosphere that was tense, punitive, and heartbreaking for our children. No family should have to fight this hard to be heard, and no child should be made to feel monitored, mistrusted, or unsafe at school. I'm sharing this because families deserve transparency, and because schools that claim Christian values must demonstrate justice, dignity, and care in practice, not just in mission statements.

As a military family, our children have experienced both public and private schools both in Washington and around the country. We can honestly say St. Nicholas has exceeded our expectations. From the stellar education, small class room size to supportive staffs, we are confident our children will gain the foundation they will need to be successful in their future education. In addition, the sense of community and values they instill will also assist them to be confident and compassionate people.

My wife and I come from a Catholic family and both have grown up attending Catholic schools from elementary to high school so we both understand and value what a Catholic Education provides. This is also the primary reason why we moved from Dupont to Gig Harbor-we stumbled into this town while exploring the area one weekend. We first found the church appealing but my wife started researching the school and one day decided to drive up here and visit the school with our boys (I was away on business at the time). After she told me about her experience, I went for myself. My initial thoughts was that it was a small campus but while small, I found the staff and teachers very friendly and the kids were very polite-something I hadn't seen since the last Catholic school the boys attended back in Hawaii. At that point we decided to send the boys there-we just needed to move to GH. After having the boys here for the first year at this school, I am both deeply grateful and highly impressed with the teachers and the staff. Here's why: After 2 yrs in Dupont, my eldest son moved schools 2x-due to the set up of the school district but in both of those cases, he was a B average, though he was an A average in Hawaii. The teachers here truly opened up his aperture to learn and he has taken a 180' turn and made straight A's. My youngest was an average student who had a need for tutoring during his 3rd grade year in Dupont; after his first year at St Nic's, he ended his year with a B+ average and actually remembers and is enthusiastic about learning. The teachers and staff are truly dedicated to their students and are very responsive to the parents. The principal has an open door policy to everyone and does a fantastic job in keeping the parents informed (due to COVID, she's done several Zoom calls). The parents are so warm and inviting. They have a initial new parents' picnic, about the weekend prior to the first day of school. There is also a Facebook group for all the parents that helps all of us stay current on what's going on in the school. They have a lot of events and fundraisers some of which will require parent's involvement, but, that is normal for Catholic schools as they want the parents involved in as many activities as possible. Although I could say more about Saint Nicholas, I encourage you to visit the school, meet the teachers, and judge for yourself. The small class size allows for more teacher/student interaction as well as provides opportunities for more 1-1 instruction if needed. You will not regret the level of education they provide to the students; you will cherish the relationships you will build with the parents, and hopefully, see the value and impact this school will have not only your kids but on you as well.

The caregivers, teacher and director constantly complained about her needing individual attention. They would tell me stories of what my daughter was doing but NEVER what lead to the outburst nor what they did to calm the situation...only that my daughter was a problem. My daughter is an active child which did not conform to their "ideal" student and i was warned that she would be withdrawn from the program if i didn't seek help from a doctor. We saw a pediatrician and a naturopathy doctor who deemed that my daughter was just an average 4 year old. The daycare never mentioned that they wanted her on meds but that was the driver for pushing me to get her "help". The director of this center should not work for a daycare much less a religious organization. My daughter could feel that that women was not there to help her. When my daughter was dragged to the directors office, because the caregivers didn't want to deal with her, the director would have to call me so I could talk to her over the phone and calm her down. It was common for my daughter to be hiding under a table or chair and i would have to talk her out. My daughter was treated as though she was the problem and i was treated i was contributing to the problem. We withdrew her and hired a nanny. I'm a single mom so finding a nanny within my budget was a challenge to say the least. My daughter is now enrolled in a preschool program through the public school system and is doing just fine. In summery, if your child is calm, quiet and submissive they will do fine there but if your child isn't all of the above please cut your losses and find another daycare/preschool.

As another parent who has had children at Northwest Christian Academy for several years, I felt it…read morewas important to share a different and much more accurate viewpoint than "Ginny". The review posted does not match the reality that many of us have experienced, and it includes claims that are either exaggerated and simply not true. It also contains comments that look down on families with lower income, which is prejudiced, entitles and outright UN-Christian. Our school community includes families from every background, and that diversity is one of its strengths. My children have always been treated with kindness and respect. Any time I have heard about student conflict, the staff responded quickly and professionally. The school takes bullying seriously and does not ignore concerns. Suggesting that nothing is done or that the environment is unsafe does not reflect what truly happens on campus. The teachers my children have had are qualified, supportive, and dedicated. I have never seen a situation where someone was teaching a subject outside of their training or credentials. And if they did, it means they have multiple endorsements. Unless you are a teacher, how on earth can you make that call about someone's personal endorcements and qualifications. What an odd thing to assume. Class sizes have been appropriate, and classroom environments are comfortable, safe, as well as managed. My 2 children have never been in a room where students were packed in or unable to learn. The comments about financial aid are especially troubling!! Scholarships and tuition assistance exist so that children from all kinds of families can access a Christian education. Speaking poorly about families who receive help is hurtful and suggests a bias that does not belong in a school review. Financial aid does not increase tuition for other parents, and claiming that it does spreads lies and misinformation. If you really want to have a bias, take a free tour. The school is pretty amazing and offers free tours all the time.
