Before I even showed up for the shoot I made sure that I expressed my anxiety via email about actually being in front of the camera for once. Marly's response was quick and totally put me at ease about any physical insecurities I was afraid would show up in High-Definition in front of the camera. She also gave me advice about what I should wear (makeup, wardrobe, and accessories) that would look good in front of the camera. I felt better going in but still very nervous. When I got there Marly was very patient with me as I had felt my face would do this weird nervous twitch as soon as the camera came out. Marly suggested we play some of my favorite songs I had downloaded on my phone which really helped me relax. Her encouraging words throughout the shoot helped me with my awkwardness :-) The equipment she used was quite impressive and she certainly knew how to use it. We are likely leaving the area in early 2014 so I wanted to have some professional photos done of…read moremyself with my husband and our greyhound to commemorate our time here. After doing some online research and talking with a few photographers I decided to work with Stacey. We met in Old Town Alexandria one Saturday afternoon in October. I was nervous at first but shortly into our photo session I felt at ease as Stacey is friendly, professional and fun, not to mention amazing at what she does! She was also great with our greyhound and got some adorable shots of him. Stacey has a wonderful eye for light and color and found a lot of unique backgrounds for our photos. Our online gallery was available after about a week and a half and the results were fantastic! Soon after, Stacey scheduled a free consultation with us to view all our photos on the large computer screen that she has and to help us pick out which prints and framing options we wanted to put up in our home. She even helped us decide how best to place the photos on the wall. We received all our prints last week and have gotten our framed prints up on the wall, we couldn't be happier! It's wonderful to get these beautiful shots of our children growing up -- and have some shots with me that I love that aren't selfies! Years ago Stacey took an iconic (among our family and friends) photo of my son sulking off to the left of the Washington monument when my husband and I were were standing to the right smiling while pregnant with our daughter. When I contacted her, she was very responsive and sent me many examples of her portfolio. When we met with her, she was very professional and agreed to do a lengthy, multi-day wedding shooting. Fast forward to the wedding day, Nessa absolutely nailed the photos. She took beautiful candids but also managed to take scores of huge group photos of family and friends where everyone looked great and didn't blink somehow, and she did it in seemingly 1-2 seconds per group. She agreed to travel with the bride and groom to 2 locations during the wedding day (in between the ceremony and reception) and captured the most stunning autumn photos. Even though we didn't prepare for any couple poses, she shared fun ideas to make us seem more natural and it actually worked. She also was great at taking dance floor photos and everything in between. We received our plethora of beautiful photos through email and were so absolutely pleased.
