But, we just thought that the ground was the way it was due to a tree casting shade... uhm no. This hole would collect up to 8 inches of water during the unusually wet spring we had this 2019. Fearing the unintentional water feature would devalue property, be host to a massive mosquito orgy and lead to the death of an already sick looking tree, we had to do something. Upon the recommendation of someone, I contacted Minick. After about 3 or 4 conversations, measurements, complex math equations, and more measurements, I was confident that we had the right place for dirt. We ordered 3.5 tons (that's 7,000 lbs of soil) to fill the giant hole. The dirt was $38 per ton, delivery was another $98. So all in all, not too bad. They delivered on a Saturday, and had a contingency plan if it rained... i.e. set up delivery another day. We prepped the drive way with a tarp... as we would be responsible for trekking it to the backyard, and a driver deposited the dirt. He was very nice and mindful of making sure to not crack the driveway with the truck. So far, we are happy with the dirt. It has done its job. My next project involves some river rock and raised bed gardens. Minick will be my first call.

The delivery driver was awesome, polite and very helpful. Dumped the soil directly on the tarp i had placed down. That's the good, unfortunately the soil was so hot i won't be able to plant for who knows how long, but it wont be this season. Over 50 seedlings with no soil to put them in. Their solution, buy inexpensive potting soil to top off the ammonia rich soil until it completes its composting cycle. More expense. VERY DISAPPOINTED. VERY!

Sure enough I did exactly what he said made my purchase and then followed the road to the back to pick up what I purchased. Everyone there did such a phenomenal job! I am SO glad I decided to go with Morrison's. When Richard and I sat down to meet, I told him that designing and describing designs in my head was not my strong suit lol! However, he was able to see exactly what I was describing and then made it come to life! Richard and all of the staff are always on top of things, they answer emails and messages extremely quickly. She recommended a variety of options based around my budget. The selection is great. As others have mentioned they carry a variety of pots and gifts - so it really is a one stop shop. That being said, all their plants can stay in their planters for six months, so pots are not a necessity right away (according to the employee). Is it a little pricier than your average, Yes. However, I think when you shop at local boutique style shops that should be expected! Additionally, they source all their plants from local nurseries, so they are able to better monitor the health of their plants. In the end, I left super satisfied with 3 plants and 2 pots, and will definitely be back!

Although most places that do the work for you do charge a convenience fee--so no surprise there. Sometimes it's nice to pay a little more and have the plant project be done without running to several different stores (or getting your nails dirty). That's where The Plant Shoppe comes in. They do a good job of have varied price points--$10 & up. Looking for a gift...take a look here! Air plants, succulents, cacti, oh my! I do have a wish list. It includes a MUCH bigger card selection.
