Been using for a few years. Previous owners were great but my understanding was they had to sell for medical reasons. It's not the same with new owners... A few weeks back i took my motorcycle vest in to get a few patches (2"x2" +/-). Previous owner would do them no issue for $5-10 each. The new owners want $20. I took them to an alternate location and paid $8 Today, i picked up my work shirts. I dropped off 2. They were "machine wash only". She told me $4.95 for ma hi e wash and said cost is the same for dry clean. She told me it was because of the size!!! I picked up my shirts she had ($1.95 ea). I asked why they were $1.95 and now $4.95. Her response was "let me get my husband". I left and took them to Astor on 35 and Hazlet Ave. They are $2.25 each Bethany tried to rip me off thinking i wouldn't ask!!! read more

I dropped off 2 throw pillows to be repaired because they were splitting at a seam. Was charged $20 (meanwhile the pillow only cost $19.99 new lol) Picked them up and a day later the sewing on one came apart. I brought it back and the lady gave me a massively hard time. Today I see the second pillow sewing is also coming apart. I brought it back and there's a gentleman there who was so rude!! He refused to fix it. I showed him where it was their thread and repair and he still would not fix. Then to top it off he accused me of running some pillow sewing scheme!! He said I don't know how many of these pillows you have at your house and I'm fixing for free! Meanwhile they know very well their thread and how they repaired it. So upsetting. I can hand sew but I'm a mom who works full time, does the homeschooling, and like everyone I have a lot of stress due to the pandemic. I thought I would splurge and have someone help me and it would be stress free and easy. Boy was I dead wrong! We won't be going back. read more

So I ordered a dress to attend the Latin Grammys in Vegas within 2 days from dress arrival time in the mail. Apparently from the time I ordered my dress to the time it arrived my butt did not fit in the dress. I did not want to purchase another dress because I was in love with my red dress. I yelped alterations by me and called Bethany, from the time I called on a Saturday morning she was positive and said she would have the dress ready by Monday afternoon. Monday at 10am I called Bethany and the dress was ready. The dress fit like a glove, and you could not tell the dress had been taken apart. I've never experienced anything like this in my life so I had to share as a warning. I was so excited when I found this place, because it's local and they quoted me very reasonable prices for alterations. I brought in 4 things to be altered, and the seamstress was very kind. When I went to pick them up, I tried them all on before I paid. I noticed the Anthropologie top I was supposed to have done had never been touched, so I told the man who owns the place (the seamstress wasn't there). For the record, I am an extremely non-confrontational, quiet person. When I told him it hadn't been touched, his argument was basically that the fabric of my shirt (linen) was "too terrible" to sew on. BUT, he was going to charge me for it anyway. I argued back saying he can't charge me for something no one sewed or touched, and he said he was going to keep it until I paid! It was absolutely absurd; I wish I had witnesses. He was so confrontational and insulting with me from the get-go, and I tried telling him very calmly to please be nice, I don't want to argue. But you can't charge me for something no one ever did any services for! He insulted me, then told me he'd charge "only half," and that's when I said he must be insane. I said it doesn't have to be this way, all the other garments look nice and I'd like to be able come back again... But despite my patience, he told me he didn't need me as a customer, he doesn't care, and to get out. I paid for the items they DID sew, and walked out feeling like I got punched or something. The sewing on my other items wasn't the best I've ever seen to be honest, but they were good prices. To be so nice and patient to someone, and to have them be so mean and shady back, was such an awful experience, so I'd never be able to give them my money again. Just wanted to warn you... They (or at least the owner) *REALLY* don't care about their clientele. read more

My sister traveled up from Florida with her wedding dress for her wedding in NJ and took it to BETHANY cleaners to get pressed 2 days before her wedding. They told her ahead of time that they could do this overnight. When we went to pick it up the next day, her dress was still very wrinkled!! We went back into the cleaners (after thoroughly looking at it in our car) and were told there was nothing else they could do. We showed them how it was still all wrinkled on the bottom and the man, very rudely, said that since we paid for it when we dropped it off and accepted it and left his store, that they could not press it any further. We just said we needed it to be pressed again and we could come back later, and he walked away from us!! We wasted a day with her dress at this cleaners and had to find someone else that could do it only a few hours. Very stressful. We ended up taking it to ASTRA cleaners where they pressed the dress in 5 hours and it looked great! read more

I dropped a small table runner and pointed put a few stains be cleaned. When I picked it up the gentlemen pointed out those stains to me and said he could not get them out, "nothing I can do" is what I was told. I had to pay the $20.00, for a job not done. He rudely would not even entertain my suggestion for a small discount. He took the runner from me and said come back when you are ready to take it. Figured I'd never see it again if I didn't take it then and there. Just a rude man. read more

I have been bringing my clothes to Bethany Cleaners for close to ten years now. I am always greeted with a smile whether I am bringing one shirt to be laundered or our living room curtains that needed to be cleaned. This family owned business takes great pride in the quality of their work. I cannot remember ever having a problem with anything they have cleaned for me. Great location, overpriced and very rude owner. I stopped in twice this week to pick up shirts and the owner was not around. I checked Dunkin and another patron looked around the back of the building. Together we waited 10 minutes. I came back later in the day and when I mentioned to the owner that he was not around earlier he said to "feel free to find another dry cleaner". So I will! read more
