They only had a small selection of the high socks and not the right size, but settled for a pair of sandals for 1.3€ - what a deal. We've been to several Primarks in the United States but the size of this one is overwhelming. FYI: this was NOT a paid attraction in Amsterdam.

Men/Women/Children's clothing, accessories, makeup, etc. It was like a maze! Needless to say, for that reason I was inside far longer than I anticipated. The products are so different there- definitely not what we are used to here in America. They had the mayonnaise in a tube! A tube! It was so shocking to see it like that. We also had milk but it didn't taste like milk it was so sour and it was thick- so when we tried pouring it- it was all lumpy and a yogurt consistency as it poured out. As far as the ham and cheese it was pretty good and the bread was a baguette which was tasty. The soda was really good and was in a strange shaped bottle- everything was so strange looking. The best thing about this grocery store was the pastries and donuts- they were like 50 cents each and they were bakery fresh items that tasted like they were made on site. I don't know how the store looked but only know about the products and the taste of them due to my sister and her bf going to the store to get the food- but from what they were saying- they said the store was huge! And they had a bunch of sales. They said they paid $23.00 and brought back about 6 bags of food to the hotel. If we were to have 6 bags of groceries here- I'm sure it would've been more than $23. I heard Lidl is coming to Philly soon- which is great news- so I'm hoping they have the same great prices and the same donuts and pastries for cheap that taste so yummy.

There weren't any public washrooms, excluding those outdoor urinals ("pee curls") that only men can really use, and an employee of a nearby shop directed us to the Magna Plaza shopping center. There were washrooms on the second floor of the shopping center, but it cost €1. But when you have to go, you have to go, and I figured since they were charging to use the facilities, it would at least be a clean and comfortable experience -- when you pay for something, there are certain expectations. To get to the entrance of the washrooms, there were two turnstiles. I went to one turnstile, but it was cash only and I didn't have any cash on me, so I went to the second turnstile that accepted credit cards. However, there was a group of fucking tourists, paying by cash, blocking the credit card only turnstile, while they took their sweet time trying to figure out the currency. I finally managed to get into the washroom, and there was no toilet paper! Seriously, if I have to PAY to use the toilet, there better damn well be toilet paper! Thank goodness I always carry napkins and tissues with me and I wasn't taking a shit! I then went to wash my hands, but there was a MALE employee in the WOMEN'S washroom, and he was blocking the sinks and wouldn't let me wash my hands! I was able to find the handicapped washroom and wash my hands in there, but there was no paper towel. This one of the worst public bathroom experiences I have had (that did not include bodily fluids or excrement everywhere). But the selection is close to what you'd find down on Kalverstraat or de Kinkerstraat. Most of the staff appears to be laboring away at that food area near the front window. People do line up to buy that stuff. It does look good! So I guess if and when I'm traveling in a hurry and want something prepared, I'll go there. The Hema person working there smiled at me today when I was shopping, looking at the fresh bread selection. I had my face mask on and even though I smiled back, not sure if she saw it. I came in here desperately seeking warmth and shelter from the snow and wind. Oh yea, I needed gloves too. I found a nice pair of fleece gloves for 7 Euros. Hey, not too bad. They kept me warm the whole time I was in A'stam and now I have them safely stowed away in my luggage, ready for another use and hopefully in back in the land of Hema :-)
