The hospitality was amazing and they offered, what I thought was, a fantastic array of items for "continental breakfast." The entire hotel was very clean. I utilized the fitness room and pool area - I felt like a VIP as I was the ONLY person in these rooms. We never heard any other guests and our pup Roxy LOVED her stay as well. She blamed someone else, and it was almost like we were bothering her to check in. No people skills or hospitality whatsoever. The room we did get was great. We hunkered down for a relaxing weekend and had a fantastic time. When we left, a young man helped me bring my suitcase downstairs and he was super friendly. It would have been a much better experience if he would have been the one to check us in. The worst part,…read morehowever, was them charging me $250 additional for supposed damage done to toilet in the room. They sent me photos and clearly this is rot and not caused by anyone. After several calls, they refuse to give me a refund. They offered to forward my issue to the manager but he is unavailable for several days. If you decide to stay here, I would suggest you take photos of the condition of the room so you have proof that you caused no damage. Should we really have to do that?????

She said it was on the website, but 6 adults missed it and we were there specifically to swim in the pools with the grandkids. The breakfast/community room as also dark and roped off. We asked about that and in a snippy tone she said it would be open in the morning IF there was staff availble to supervise (!?) As we were about to sign the form for check in, Linda said this was private proterty and she could have us evicted and call the sherriff at any time. After hearing that, there was no way we could subject our kids and grandkids to that kind of treatment. We stayed at a hotel down the road and were treated with respect and hospitality, swam in their pool and spent time together in their community room. I'm hoping to get a refund of some kind from the reservation we made, but it's already pending at our bank and Linda absolutely refused when we were there. I'm not holding my breath, since I called customer service right away when we were refused compensation from Linda. Customer service at Best Western just called Linda and came back to us with the same response. Too bad, so sad, you should have read the fine print in the run on sentence about electric vehicle charging not working! No email for confirmation of reservation or trip reminders mentioned, oh, by the way, the pool is closed! My lesson is, we will never, ever stay at a Best Western again and I will share our story when ever we can. They said that I needed to have told them by 3pm the night before or I will get charged tomorrow night. I have been traveling for work for decades and this is the first time I have seen a policy like that. I did not book the hotel, I used my work's travel agency so I could not know that hotel policy. I will certainly provide that feedback to the agency. I explained my situation to the Sparta BW Front Office, but there is no budging from the rep. When I asked if I can escalate it, they said they were the GM. Calling the main Best Western customer relations office yielded them calling the hotel and being told the same thing. They explained that not all Best Westerns are the same and they have never seen that policy as well. See pictures. I'm solo and have short hair. The shower had long hair on the wall. The view out the window is super-dirty and full of debris, both manmade and natural. I would have not have made this an issue typically, since I"m just here to sleep while working, but with this and the horrible customer service - I have to rate this hotel at a 1 star. I typically stay at a Marriot, Hilton, or IHG. I have never had this issue where if I have to change my travel due to unforeseen circumstances and I'm telling them the day before, that I would get charged for the following day. Unfortunately this experience has left me avoiding Best Westerns in the future.

The door of the microwave was broken (I didn't need it so I didn't care), and the motel is old enough that the coffeemaker, etc. were plugged into a power strip. The shower had been converted poorly with one of those drop-in setups, which meant there were small pieces of mortar on the floor of the tub. I had repeated problems with my key card, and the staff was very helpful with that. Room was functional and cheap, with windows that can be opened. Wifi was a bit slow but fine. This is right off the highway, so ask if you can get a room on the side further away if you're planning to turn in early or sleep in late. The first was literally a crack house in Oakland, CA, with no fitted sheet on the stained bed and violent looking people hanging out in the parking lot. When we arrived in the moderately clean hotel room, with an obviously dirty pillow cover, the whole place smelled heavily like disgusting air freshener. My partner is allergic to these kinds of heavy fragrances, so we spent the first half hour of our stay attempting to clear out the smell, only to find that it covered the reeking smell of cigarette smoke in our non-smoking room. We spent a considerable amount of time considering whether it would be worth it to take a shower in the dirty bathroom to clean the filth of the room off in the morning. We decided it wasn't. Throughout the night people were awake and laughing uproariously in steady tones just outside our windo; we can only imagine there was drug-use involved. Of course, we had to keep the window open to prevent from choking on the stench of the room. The featured amenities of fridge, large television, microwave, ironing board, etc. seem only to serve people who are staying for a while, which, based on the people we were surrounded by, is problematic. When we woke up at 6:45 (after waking up all through the night) we got up and left quicker than we've ever left a place. This is despite the fact that we pulled in at 1:30am and got to bed at 2am. The man in the lobby was nice enough, but a nice demeanor is really no excuse for a disgusting motel. Please, unless you really need a deal, don't stay here. Pay the extra $40 and stay at the Super 8. You'll never know the misery you missed and, trust me, it's worth it.

The pool is great! There's two pools. One is for kids and both have a slide. There's a jacuzzi as well! There is a dry sauna that might take a while to heat up so I suggest swim and wait. HOTEL STAFF - you guys might to re-do the the dry sauna walls inside because it's scratched up with graffiti and one stands out because it's a racial slur. Fix it! Overall, a great stay.

Barely got answers or input from the woman at the front she just wanted to throw card keys at me so she could get back to doing nothing. Pure attitude. In a town where a solid job is hard to find, I was shocked that the desk staff was so terrible at her job. The room was the second filthiest I've stayed in and I've stayed in a hostel in east Europe for 8 bucks a night. The carpets are less clean than a movie theatre in a struggling area. Also, dishonest billing staff. I stayed with a small dog (10 pounds) and well after I was out of the state there's over 100 bucks charged to my CC for an additional pet fee. Upon investigation the front desk woman said it was because my dog had destroyed a bed. This is a dog who cannot even chew a baby carrot with much success and she was never alone in the room during the entire stay. I guess someone just wanted and extra hundred off my back because I wasn't around to dispute it in person. Cowardly. Usually, I've had great experiences at BW but this places' management is the problem. AVOID this place and just go up the road to the next town.

Some emails on my LTE hotspot, making breakfast, drinking coffee, and doing a little bit of repair on the inside of the van. The parking area is very well back from the highway so there's absolutely no noise from vehicles going past. Four-wheeler parking is right next to the truck parking so you'll have them idling all night but other than that, this is a quiet and peaceful rest area.
